‘Why Can't Men And Women Who Are Divorced Fall In Love Again?’: Adil Hussain

Starting his career as a stand-up comedian in Assam’s legendary Bhaya Mama group, Adil Hussain rose to fame after he learnt theatre from the National School Of Drama. He has left his footprints in both Bollywood as well as regional cinema, and quite well known among foreign actors too. Adil was recently seen in Voot Select's Love In The Times Of Corona that had three parts. Adil’s Tea and A Rose is about two middle-aged individuals who have lost their respective partners and it was their unexpected meeting with each other that changed their lives as they found solace in each other. View this post on Instagram The message in the movie was loud and clear that age doesn’t matter when you are in love. In India, we feel that we still have a hitch as we can’t imagine our parents falling in love after a certain age. On this, Adil told, “Well, I feel that heart is the youngest of the biological cells. I am not talking about the physical heart but the heart that falls in love. It’s not the heart that pumps blood. It’s like Dil toh bachcha hai! I think if children find it embarrassing, it’s the cultural conditioning that we have. It’s understandable but at the same time, children should be okay with it because if they are right to fall in love, why can’t their parents if they have separated or have lost their partners. It would be a crime if we stop them from falling in love once again. Isn’t it a beautiful thing to have company at an older age?”  When asked about the relevance of short movies, “I am extremely proud of VOOT for doing this and it takes a lot of courage to show short movies as it’s not in fashion. I want VOOT to keep continuing this as there are many young filmmakers who want to talk about things are unique and issue that matter and engaging at the same time. I hope people watch these short movies and be vocal about it.”  View this post on Instagram Adil has done a good job in displaying his emotions through his character in Tea And A Rose.

5 Green Flags To Look For In A Relationship To Know If Your Partner Is A Keeper

After reading up extensively about red flags to avoid in a partner, we all have become a pro at detecting a person who’s wrong for us.  Of course, it’s a whole another thing that we completely overlook these warning signs and still date them, only to end up with a broken heart. Happens.  © Yash Raj Films However, it seems like we are clueless about what good things we should look for in a partner to make sure they are right for us (and our mental health).
We often don’t notice these because we are too busy looking for the red flags. The next time you are dating someone you really like, maybe notice the green flags aka the good things they bring in your life to confirm that they are a keeper?    © Dharma Productions We are not saying ignore the red flags. But once you know they aren’t toxic or supremely annoying, maybe keep an eye out for these 5 green flags that guarantee you've got a good one from the lot:
1. They Support You & Stand With You © iStock You know you are with the right person when anything that’s important to you is supported and fully backed by them.
Be it a silly business idea or adopting veganism, you should be able to discuss it with them without hesitation because you know they would support your decision.    2. They Challenge You In A Healthy Way © iStock Your relationship should allow you to grow into a better person emotionally and otherwise.
If they push you to do better in your career and academics, challenge you to evolve as a person and add to your life in a positive way, they are a keeper.   3. When They Are Willing To Let Things Go  © iStock Everyone has flaws and you are bound to have fights when you are dating. The important thing is how your partner handles an argument.
If they are willing to forgive and forget and make efforts to be better at things that bother you, that is a major green flag.  4. They Genuinely Care About You © iStock Not just asking if you ate or not, when your partner shows they care through little things like sending you a loving message when you need it, coming to see you with your favourite food when you are sad and making sure you are healthy and happy, you can be sure you can count on them.
5. They Put You & Your Needs First © iStock There’s nothing better than a partner who’s receptive to your needs and isn’t trying to do things their way all the time.
A person adjusting their schedule according to your needs is a tell-tale sign that they are invested in you and a perfect catch.

Kartik Aaryan To Step Into Allu Arjun’s Shoes For 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' Hindi Remake

Kartik Aaryan has been on a roll as we have been only learning about announcements of his upcoming movies in the recent past. Now, his name has been associated with the Hindi remake of Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. On Thursday, screenwriter Hussain Dalal revealed Kartik will be playing the lead role in the remake. In a conversation with The Times of India, Dalal said, “An actor’s own qualities and personality traits always lend themselves to the screenplay. For instance, Kartik Aaryan as an actor and as a person is different from Allu sir. That has to be factored in while writing the screenplay.” View this post on Instagram He added, “Allu Arjun has a certain swag and Kartik has his own kind of screen presence and style that we have to play with. An adaptation works best when you are clear about who you are adapting the story for, what you plan to say with it, and how.  It might be titled Shehzada and might be directed by Rohit Dhawan. Kartik Aaryan also has Ram Madhvani’s Dhamaka, Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Hansal Mehta’s Captain India in his kitty. View this post on Instagram Talking about Captain India, Kartik said, “Captain India is inspiring and thrilling in equal measure and it gives me great pride and honour to be a part of such a historic chapter of our country. I have immense respect for Hansal Sir’s body of work and this was the perfect opportunity to collaborate with him.”  View this post on Instagram Kartik has been enjoying all the limelight and the support that he got from the people when he was dropped from two major movies.

Is Chicken Tikka Masala A British Or Indian Dish? Foodies Go To War On Twitter With Debate

As a writer, one of the most frustrating things that I experience in my trade is when, sometimes, my content gets plagiarized and used by people as their own.  You see, nothing is more important than giving credit where it’s due, because not doing that doesn’t just mean you’re taking away something that doesn’t belong to you, but also that you’re twisting the origin story, and that can open a whole different can of worms. Like in the case of this particular Tweet, that claims how Mughals brought Biryani to India, while ‘Chicken Tikka Masala’, the famous dish all of us Indians and the world like to gorge on, was actually a British colonial dish.  Have questions already? You're not alone. Read on... Mughals brought Biryani and British brought Chicken Tikka Masala pic.twitter.com/cJqx6FvJvJ — Rahul Roushan (@rahulroushan) July 29, 2021 I’m 25-years-old and it’s been nearly that many years since I’ve been eating this “British colonial dish”, believing it actually originated in India, because well, you know.  However, a quick search on Google might have just proved that I, along with a few hundred thousand Indians who thought the same, were absolutely wrong. Legend has it (and by that I mean several articles on Google) that the famous and mouth-watering dish dates its origin back to the 1970s when a Bangladeshi chef from Glasgow named Ali Ahmed Aslam of the Shish Mahal restaurant accidentally ended up making this masterpiece for a customer who had a stomach ulcer.  © istock He added a touch of tomato soup and a variety of spices to the dry chicken, serving it with a hot and spicy gravy and voila! A dish was born that would, eventually, have hundreds of people fighting over its copyright in the comment section of a Twitter thread.
As people stand divided on Chicken Tikka Masala being called a 'British colonial dish', here are some of the most entertaining tweets made by people who can’t stop debating on the matter and are clearly not going down without a fight.  Many are holding on to the technicality that since India was no longer colonized in the 70s, it doesn’t make it a British dish, while others are hitting back with some cutting edge sass! How Archer Atanu Das & Wife Deepika Kumari Broke South Korean Hearts At The Olympics

When you have the right people supporting you, the number of supporters you have doesn’t really matter. Well, this was true for Indian Archer Atanu Das, who defeated two-time Olympic champion, Oh Jin Hyek of South Korea, to proceed further into the elimination rounds.
© World Archery Given the pandemic and everything, Japan’s Olympic stadiums are virtually without any audience. During their match, Oh Jin Hyek had quite a few people supporting him. Mainly the South Korean support staff and a few other athletes.
© World Archery Atanu Das, on the other hand, had just his wife, Deepika Kumari supporting him. Deepika made headlines when she stormed her way into the quarterfinals, after a number of exhilarating elimination matches. Unfortunately, earlier today, she was knocked out of the running in the Women’s Individual Quarterfinal.
© World Archery Upon defeating Hyek in his recent elimination match, Atanu credited the win to his wife, Deepika, for cheering him on, all by herself from the stands. She was the only supporter, he had. He was quoted, saying, “I was hearing her all the time. She was pushing me: ‘believe in yourself’, ‘you can do it’, ‘just stay calm and handle the situation.’ I am privileged to have my wife in this competition. She is a great support and motivation for me, so I really did my best in the match today.”
© World Archery The two first met at the Tata Academy in Jamshedpur, in 2008, where they were batchmates. However, due to differences in languages and different training routines, they did not cross each other’s path.
© World Archery During the 2016 Rio Olympics & the 2017 World Championships in Mexico City, they started getting closer to each other. It was after India’s disastrous showing at the World Championships in 2017 that they grew even closer, when they supported each other through some rough times, and eventually fell in love.
They had decided to tie the knot after the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. However, because the Olympics were postponed indefinitely, they decided to go ahead with their wedding in June. © Instagram/theatanudas On the professional front, Atanu is having a blast at the Tokyo Olympics and has upset a number of favourites. Deepika, on the other hand, regained her position as the World No.1 in the Women’s Recurve division, just before the Tokyo Olympics.

‘Water, Hospital & Roads’, Lovlina’s Olympic Medal Could Transform Her Village's Fate

Lovlina Borgohain, making her Olympic debut, has assured India of their second medal at the Tokyo Olympics, after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the women’s welterweight category (64-69kg).
The 23-year-old boxer from Assam is just one step away from creating history. One more win and she would become the most successful Indian boxer in Olympic history.  While that would be some achievement, Lovlina wants to go all the way and clinch India’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in boxing.  #IND have been assured of their second medal at #Tokyo2020

I am not thinking about anything right now. Don't want to stop here, want to win gold,” said Lovlina, during a virtual press conference and made her intentions clear about the ultimate target.
Like most Indian athletes competing at Tokyo 2020, Lovlina comes from a very humble background.  She hails from Baro Mukhia, a remote village in Assam’s Golaghat district, which still lacks basic facilities like drinking water, roads and hospitals, as reported by The New Indian Express.  Boxer Lovlina Borgohain has just won her quarter-final welterweight bout and India's guaranteed another medal. Now it's a question of the colour!
And in case you've only seen the billboards in Guwahati, this is what she looks like. pic.twitter.com/1iZVM1O77G — Joy Bhattacharjya (@joybhattacharj) July 30, 2021 After being neglected for years, the villagers have now pinned their hopes on Lovlina, hoping that an Olympic medal would force the authorities to build the basic infrastructure in their village and make their life easy.
Apart from the country's hopes, Lovlina has so much riding on her young shoulders but she has not let this affect her game and completely dominated her bout against a former world champion, who had defeated her four times before Friday’s bout.  © Twitter/Lovlina Borgohain “I enjoyed myself in this bout, played freely. There was no strategy, no plan. I knew her from before, the plan wasn't even needed. In today's bout, the key was that I didn't take any pressure, it would have been counterproductive. I only tried to give my 100 per cent,” said Lovlina, when asked to reflect on her strategy for the quarterfinals bout.

5 TV Shows From Our Childhood That Had No Business Making Us Laugh The Way They Did

Sometimes, it gets difficult to digest that we’re in the year 2021, almost 30 years from the 90s, which the internet has collectively declared as the most nostalgic and memorable time in our collective history.  For obvious reasons that we were all conveniently born then, most of us have the tendency to view our past through rose tinted glasses. There was a time back then, where TV shows could make you laugh without resorting to cheap tricks and dirty tropes. Comedy was simple, but smart too. Managing to keep an entire generation laughing, every day, without fail.  It was a fine line that the Indian TV industry kowtowed well for almost a decade before it eventually became formulaic and regressed.  However, let’s take a look at 5 TV shows from our golden childhood that had no business being as funny as they were:  1.  Zabaan SambhalkeAn Indian remake of the popular show Mind Your Language, Zabaan Sambhalke had Pankaj Kapoor going about his duties as a Hindi language instructor, teaching students hailing from different nationalities.   The comical gaffes and lost-in-translation scenes gave an entire generation of Indian audiences endless laughs.  2. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai An undeniable cult classic, the original run of Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai is often considered one of the finest comedy shows made for the Indian TV screens.  Each character had their unique idiosyncrasies that didn’t feel forced or gimmicky, instead, they found a way to seamlessly trade setups and punchlines among them.  From Rosesh’s neverending poems to Maya and Monisha’s constant bickering, this show had it all without making it feel out of place.  Unfortunately, the second run of the series didn’t enjoy much applause.  3. Tu Tu Main Main First aired in 1994, Tu Tu Main Main packaged the desi saas-bahu relationship with a generous serving of smart and cutting humour.  The fervent to-and-fro between Radha and Devkiben was something that a majority of the Indian TV viewing audience related to. It managed to keep things funny, without seeming forced.  4. Khichdi Khichdi brought about, what I believe, was the golden age for Indian TV.  The show had seemingly cracked the perfect formula to make us laugh, with Praful’s ever so optimistic and self-assured way of responding to every “Prafooool… matlab...” sent his way by Hansa.  The show was aptly named after the classic Indian dish. Simple, clean humour that was easily digested by the masses.  5.  Mr. Bean  At a point in time, Mr. Bean was one of the most frequently viewed TV shows in India.  Rowan Atkinson’s peculiar mannerisms as the titular character won him widespread fanfare across the globe, including India.  The beauty of Mr. Bean lay in the fact that language wasn’t required to understand the humour in the scenes. Our protagonist’s expressions were enough to transcend any form of linguistic boundaries. A classic.  These are some of the shows I grew up with, shows that never failed to get a laugh out of me. And even in 2021, these shows make me laugh harder than anything on my TV screen, presently.

After Porn Scandal, Raj Kundra Now Accused Of Rs 3000 Crore Online Game Fraud By BJP Leader

It would clearly be an understatement to say that the last month has really been a very tough one for disgraced Indian businessman Raj Kundra and his wife Shilpa Shetty.
© Instagram Everywhere across the country and even outside of it, the news of Kundra's alleged hand in the recently-discovered pornography scandal has spread like wildfire.
It is unremarkably the most talked-about news in town and well, doesn't seem to be dying down any soon. Especially, with new crazy twists and turns that are unravelling almost on a daily basis. Now, in a sensational accusation labelled by BJP leader Ram Kadam, Kundra has now been accused of masterminding and orchestrating a Rs 3,000 crore gambling fraud as well as of physically harassing a model and actress, reports state.  © BCCL The BJP leader, while addressing a press conference, said:
“On April 14, 2021, a famous model-cum-actress complained of physical harassment against Raj Kundra at the Juhu Police station. But the application wasn’t moved ahead and there was pressure on the model. The government has to answer who were these people who put pressure on the actress and why no action was taken against Raj Kundra,” said Kadam. The lawmaker then went on to elaborate on the gambling charges, stating that the Mumbai-based Viaan Industries Limited had started an online game by the name of ‘Game of Dot’. The online game then resorted to committing fraud and collecting crores from various distributors across the county before cutting off all communications suddenly. “Kundra used his wife Shilpa Shetty to forward this game and attract distributors. When these people realized that a fraud has been committed, they were beaten up and cases were put against them,” said Kadam. He also added how the company, despite claiming to run a legitimate business, ended up violating all rules and regulations in its aim of cheating the public. “If no action is taken against the culprits, we will approach the Mumbai police commissioner and home minister. We also want to understand how has this government tolerated the injustice and fraud committed on the people of Maharashtra,” said Kadam. Phew! It really feels like Kundra is now entangled in his own web and things are just getting worse and worse for him and for Shilpa as well.

An Open Letter To All The Guys I Have Friendzoned

Dear guy who I friendzoned,
It’s time to address the elephant in the room and come to terms with the fact that being “friendzoned” isn’t a curse after all. If anything, it’s possibly the best thing to happen to you, because when I come as a friend in your life, I bring to the table a lot more than I would have if we ever dated. © Dharma Productions Not only am I the kind of friend who will have your back and give you solid advice on any topic but I will also set you up with a lot of single people I know and make your life better just by being in it.
You see, being friendzoned doesn’t have to mean banishment or come across as consolation of any kind. It’s not a downgrade, but a real upgrade from being just another guy in my life to one who holds real value.  It means having something stronger than a feeling that will only last a couple of weeks before it fizzles out. It means having someone to hold on to, cry with, laugh with, share deep and dark secrets with, make decisions with, gossip with, go date-hunting with, and most importantly - to always count on. Why? Because this way, neither of us has to get hurt. © Dharma Productions I won’t throw the whole ‘It’s not you, it’s me’ thing in your face. Because it really IS you. You are the reason why I wouldn’t want to make things so expendable by dating you when I am certain I don’t have feelings for you. You are also the reason why I would rather choose to keep you in my life for good as opposed to just trying you out like a dress in a store.
Sometimes, it really is that simple - you are just too precious to lose. And for everyone who tells you ‘a girl and a guy can’t be friends’, it’s because they were always too butthurt to look beyond that angle. We don't have to be. © Dharma Productions Yes, I admit, it must’ve hurt. I can say because I’ve been friendzoned too and it sucked. But over time, I’ve realised that life is nuanced and so are relationships. Two people need not necessarily shove their tongues in each other’s mouths or get the official authority to grab ass for them to mean something to each other.
They can mean a lot more by being in their life in a different, more platonic way too. But that would mean you learning how to hold back on those feelings of love and asking me out every couple of months despite knowing my answer. It hurts me more than it hurts you. © Dharma Productions Don’t aspire to be the Ranbir from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil or Kajol from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, because even Karan Johar won’t be able to help you. Not unless someone tragically dies...
You don’t have to impress me, buy me expensive gifts, hate on my current dates, dodge my side-hugs, drunk dial and confess your love, take me out on fancy dates on the off chance that I *might* let you hold my hand on the ride back home (because I won’t) and you certainly don’t have to keep me as your priority.  Most women, including myself, work on butterflies and if they weren’t there for the first ten times we met, they wouldn’t magically come now. © Yash Raj Films. It’s okay, it is time to move on. There are plenty of fish in the sea, and God knows I am an incredible wing-woman.
What I am not is a sadist or a masochist. I don’t enjoy being the one breaking your heart or leading you on. And it is because I care that I wish for you to direct your efforts towards someone who will reciprocate in the same language. After all, mine starts and ends with friendship. © Dharma Productions And the day you stop looking at it as something offered to you out of sympathy, is the day you’ll realise just how multi-faceted, beautiful and legendary this friendship can be.
P.S - I hope there will be no hard feelings (pun intended).

‘Disappointed’ Rahul Dravid’s Honest Opinion After Sanju Samson Flops On Sri Lanka Tour

Sanju Samson’s disappointing run with the bat continued as he fluffed yet another opportunity in the series-deciding third and the final T20I against Sri Lanka.  Besides Dhawan, Samson was the most experienced batter in the Playing XI and was expected to shoulder some responsibility of the inexperienced and depleted batting unit but he failed to impress yet again, getting out for a three-ball duck. The wicketkeeper-batsman from Kerala has always shown great promise but has never been able to deliver on the biggest stage and Thursday’s game was just another example. © Instagarm/Sanju Samson He knew that all the eyes would be on him during the Sri Lanka tour and a series of solid performances could even help him break into India’s T20 World Cup squad but that dream is all but over.
Like many fans, even interim head coach Rahul Dravid believes that looking back, Samson must be disappointed by his performance in the series but urged everyone not to jump ship and be patient with him and other young players. © BCCI "It was not the easiest pitch to bat on. In ODIs, he got a chance and scored 46. He was batting well in the first T20 but the last couple of wickets (pitches) were challenging,” Dravid said during the virtual press conference after India lost the T20I series.
"I guess yeah, if you look back at the series, we will be a little disappointed. Having said that, not only Sanju, but a lot of young guys in this team are talented kids, and we need to be patient with them," he added.  © Twitter/BCCI Before the series, everyone was boasting about how strong India’s bench strength was but when put to test, most players failed to impress.
After India lost almost half of the squad for the last two T20Is, India’s inexperienced batting unit was left completely exposed by Sri Lanka’s quality spinners led by Wanindu Hasaranga, who took home the Player of the Series award. But despite losing the series, Dravid wasn’t disappointed and said that the series would serve as a great learning experience for the youngsters and expected them to learn from their mistakes and come back stronger. #TeamIndia fought hard but Sri Lanka win the T20I series decider by 7 wickets to clinch the series 2-1.

Scorecard https://t.co/E8MEONwPlh #SLVIND pic.twitter.com/EvAdXKH080 — BCCI (@BCCI) July 29, 2021 "I am not disappointed as they are young. They are going to learn and get better only when they are exposed to these kind of conditions and quality of bowling. Sri Lankan team's bowling attack is an international bowling attack,” said Dravid, praising Sri Lankan bowlers for putting Indian batsmen under pressure.
"They would have liked to score a few more runs. They now have an opportunity to reflect that not all wickets are going to be flat. We need to find ways to scrap and score 130, 140 on these wickets," he added.  © Twitter/BCCI Samson has always made headlines with his strong IPL performances but somehow, he hasn’t been able to replicate the same magic in Indian colours.
He has only managed 117 runs from 10 T20I innings, despite playing in the top-order and if he doesn’t get picked in the T20 World Cup squad, he has no one but himself to blame.

Sahil Anand’s 'Paatr' Is A Lot More Than Just A Conversation Around Mental Health

Short films in India have finally come of age and quite a few directors have been asked this question more often than not -- why a short film and not a full-length feature movie? Well, the answer to this is that it allows the director to put his ideology out in front of the audience in a crisp manner which is more challenging than making a full-length feature movie. Thanks to OTT platforms, new directors and writers have finally found their voice and they have a unique way of narrating their stories. As you all appreciated us for recommending you Vidya Balan’s Natkhat last week, today we are recommending you actor Sahil Anand and director Chand Mohammad’s Paatr. In just 14 mins, the director has managed to leave the writer unsettled and this short film hits you right in the gut giving you an adrenaline rush and anxiety at the same time. View this post on Instagram We have time and again heard tales of actors losing their sanity while giving in their blood and sweat to a certain character; this movie focuses on that very aspect of filmmaking. It has happened with Heath Ledger who lost his decisiveness after he consumed himself completely into the role of Joker. Here, we have Sahil Anand’s character Veer Singh who is mentally declining into his role. We are not here to give you any sort of spoilers because it’s for you to watch and analyze the movie. It gave us goosebumps and we understood how an actor sinks his teeth into his character and you see a metamorphosis in his journey. There are times when an actor finds it hard to detach himself from the character. Here, you have Veer who is severely affected by his dark character and is delusional. He is indecisive and has lost grip on himself. View this post on Instagram By far, this is one of the best recent short movies that we have watched. It has been shot aesthetically by Mohit Puri and the background score is by Harsh Upadhyay. The music has surely added punch to the movie. Here’s the movie: In the start, we get to hear this dialogue that sums the entire plot for you - 'Fitoor bhi badi ku** cheez hai, jyada ho toh yeh uchayi pe pohochati hai, aur bahot jyada ho to seedha upar.' In a nutshell, Sahil and Chand have gone that extra mile to make viewers understand that passion has a dark side too and it’s more just a dialogue around mental health. Well, this was my review of this short film and I also got a chance to interact with the actor and the director. Here are the excerpts from my interview with them: Chand Mohammad (Director Of The Movie)The topic in itself is very disturbing. How did you materialize it and how did this idea come to you? The idea came from cinema itself as I have been watching a lot of movies and hearing stories about filmmaking. I just wanted to talk about something very personal to all of us. Also, I want to add that the idea that came from Heath Ledger. How difficult was it for you to shoot in lockdown in just one location? It was literally a nightmare because we had only 3 days for shooting and we did ‘pooja’ on one day and we went on to complete the shoot without even sleeping properly. Also, we had only 5 people on the team so I had to micromanage everything. View this post on Instagram Not many directors have explored the aspect of mental health of actors who find it hard to detach themselves from their characters. Do you think this film will enlighten the audience into understanding the hardship of an actor? We only talk about an actor’s lifestyle and money they get through their art. Nobody really talks about the dark side of filming a dark character for hours and what goes into creating such a character for films. So yes, I am hoping that this movie will initiate a dialogue around how much an actor sacrifices to get the projection just right. You are the writer and the director of the movie. Is it challenging to do everything on your own? Of course, it was challenging as I was shooting this movie in midst of lockdown. It was challenging to find just the right person to pull this off. It took me three months to find the talented people for my movie and I finally managed to get the perfect team on board who understood my vision. I really hope people like our short film. Sahil Anand (Lead Actor Of The Film)You have been battling with mental health issues yourself because this character impacted you way too much. Now that you have played a part in it and it has been released, how are you feeling at this very stage? Yes, I had to battle with my mental health because of this very character and the story. The process of the shoot and workshop went around one weak and during this time, I disconnected myself from everyone and I was only talking to myself. I had completely isolated myself and I hardly slept in those three days when we were finally filming it. Somehow, I got too involved in the character and it was hard for me to detach myself from it. Now that it’s released, I am feeling at the top of the world because I have been getting such an overwhelming response. I feel that I am getting the result of the hard work that I had put in while shooting for it, so I am glad. When the director approached you for the movie, what was your reaction like because you have never done such an intense role? When Chand approached me for the movie, I was nervous but I never felt like giving up the idea of pursuing it. When he narrated the story, I knew that I have to keep the real Sahil at distance and I have to be a new person altogether. I have not done any intense roles before this and I hope I have managed to do justice to this character. View this post on Instagram Also, tell me about the preparation part of it as it was mentally draining? Yes, it was mentally draining because these three or four days, I was continuing to focus on this character. I was thinking about his past and I was wondering what will happen to him in the future. I was so consumed. As I earlier told you that I wasn’t eating or sleeping during the process, it took a lot from me. When the teaser was released, I scrolled down the comments and realized that people called you the Heath Ledger Of India. What do you have to say about it? People started calling me Heath Ledger of India, so it is an honour for me. He is a legend and left an impression that people will remember him for his role in Joker for years to come. I do not have words and I am just hoping that I don’t disappoint people who have given me such a great honour. It’s high time that we all come together to support such gems.

‘Fact Or Useless Hate?’ Fans Compare Mirabai Chanu’s Humility To Ananya Panday’s Debut Award

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu has become India’s favourite athlete ever since bagging the very first Toyko Olympic medal for the country when she earned the silver in the 49 kg division with a total lift of 202 kg. The accomplishment made her the first Indian weightlifter to win silver at the Olympics and the second Indian weightlifter after Karnam Malleswari to win an Olympic medal. Ever since her journey back home, anything and everything Mirabai is doing, has been in the news. Her humility and the fact that she relished Indian food while sitting on the floor in a tiny, unkempt room with blank walls and a cemented surface, have made her more of an inspiration to the Indian youth. That smile when you finally eat ghar ka khana after 2 years. pic.twitter.com/SrjNqCXZsm — Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (@mirabai_chanu) July 29, 2021 Unfortunately, when a celebrity reaches a certain stage, comparisons become a common means for fans to express their affection or hate for them and that’s exactly what happened in the case of Mirabai as well. On the receiving side of such collations, Mirabai was lauded by a certain section of her fanbase for her humbleness and down-to-earth nature. However, the person on the shape end of such comparisons turned out to be the 22-year old actor Ananya Panday, who received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for the work she did in Student of the Year 2. View this post on Instagram Being the daughter of actor Chunky Panday, Ananya’s career, albeit with just three released films, has already been in question for nepotism and her accomplishment has been branded as “bought” and not “earned”. Additionally, the pictures of Ananya sleeping with her award were used to portray arrogance while drawing parallels between the athlete and the actor. That is true.!! pic.twitter.com/MVVoJVNUe2 — Office Of Mishraji (@RahulMi46867098) July 29, 2021 Surprisingly, many even agreed with the comparison and found logic in belittling one’s achievements to acknowledge those of the others: ..and the irony is that, star kids, movie stars get more limelight and followers in our country. — Sabrina Lyngdoh (@Sabrene) July 30, 2021 Well said — Manish Manou (@manish_dhapte06) July 29, 2021 True — ShiningStar (@star1nidhi2cute) July 29, 2021 Don't compare glory of hardwork with nepo shit — ANKIT (@republican_kit) July 29, 2021 Thankfully, many also decided to stick with reason and opposed such comparisons, talking about how it is not always important to demean someone only to show the worth of another person. The two belong to completely different fields of professions and should be respected for whatever they’ve achieved: You can celebrate one's achievements without belittling others. — Ashish kumar (@Ashishk26778960) July 29, 2021 Bhai Jo bhi hai plz don't pull a woman down to celebrate another's success. 'Iron Man Was Mission Impossible', Tom Cruise On Why He Said No To Playing Tony Stark

Some people are just born to do one thing in life and there aren't many who can be better than them at it.
Sachin Tendulkar was born to play cricket! © Reuters Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were born to play football!
© Reuters And well, when it comes to movies, Hollywood superstar Robert Downey Jr. was born to play the role of Marvel's Iron Man.
© Marvel Studios It's just that simple, isn't it?
We cannot imagine anyone else playing it better than him. However, this was not what the Marvel bosses had in mind when they were casting for the role of the playboy billionaire genius, that was Tony Stark. Yes, apparently, Marvel Studios wanted Iron Man to be played by none other than Hollywood's superstar daredevil and Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise.   © Paramount Pictures Now, while the role obviously went over to Downey, Marvel thought that Cruise was the more bankable star back in the 2000s, especially due to Downey's personal life problems.
It was said that Marvel went on to approach Cruise for the part to kickstart the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, the Mission Impossible actor declined the offer as he thought 'it would not work'. The role then went over to Downey, with the rest being history. However, Cruise has now opened up on exactly what went down during the casting process, and why he exactly said no to the role. “It’s not happening. Not with me, no … They came to me at a certain point and, when I do something, I wanna do it right. If I commit to something, it has to be done in a way that I know it’s gonna be something special. And as it was lining up, it just didn’t feel to me like it was gonna work. I need to be able to make decisions and make the film as great as it can be, and it just didn’t go down that road that way.” Cruise said. The Top Gun actor also went onto add that even he thought that Robert Downey Jr. was great for the role and like all the fans, he could not have imagined anyone else play the role any better. Let's admit it! © Marvel Studios We love Tom Cruise and know that he really deserves to play a superhero, but in this case, we can only say thanks to him, because we cannot even begin to think of Iron Man without Robert Downey Jr. having anything to do with it.

India’s Top Cybersecurity Agency Says iPhone, iPad Users Must Update Operating Software

India’s top government cybersecurity agency has warned of a vulnerability in older versions of iOS and iPadOS and has asked users in the country to immediately update to the latest version. The Government cybersecurity agency says users must update to OS 14.7.1 and iPadOS 14.7.1 to avoid any threats and attacks by hackers.  An advisory issued by the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) on Wednesday said, “A Vulnerability has been reported in Apple iOS and iPadOS which could be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code and gain elevated privileges on a targeted system.” © unsplash The note was given a high severity rating which means that it shouldn’t be taken lightly. The agency said that successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities will allow attackers with kernel privileges and give them the ability to execute arbitrary code on a targeted system.
“A remote attacker could exploit some of the vulnerabilities such as memory corruption etc,” said the advisory that labelled the threat to be “high". It also said that “this vulnerability is currently being exploited” and users are advised to “apply patches urgently.” The agency also issued a warning for the encrypted messaging platform Signal saying that a vulnerability has been discovered in the application for Android. This can result in sending random images along with the ones that users intend to send. The agency has asked Signal users on Android to update to the 5.17.3 version from the Google Play Store. © unsplash IT and telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the CERT-In has issued alerts to over 700 organisations across several sectors to activate cyber-threat prevention programs.
Apple issued a recent update that suggests the fix was for an exploit used by NSO for zero-click attacks. The method has been used to target iPhones owned by dissidents, activists, human rights lawyers, and opposition politicians all over the world including India.  If you want to know about the Pegasus spyware was used to spy on Indian journalists, ministers judges and others, you can read our detailed report here.

Woman Crashes BF’s Wedding To Marry Him & We Are Like 'Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti'

In another bizarre incident, a Hindu woman from Delhi recently crashed her live-in boyfriend’s nikah in UP’s Binjor along with police and drove back to Delhi to marry him. The incident came to light after 22-year-old Santosh Kumar’s partner, Ajmal Ahmad (25) went back home to UP, and was caught marrying another woman.
Santosh and Ajmal had met each other at a salon in Delhi and started getting close to each other. They then decided to move into a house in Sarai Kale Khan together. After Ajmal’s visit to his hometown, Santosh wanted Manadawar police’s aid to stop him from getting married to another woman and bring him back. © Unsplash Santosh then got together with a group of cops after filing a complaint. The cops then accompanied her to their nikah and Ajmal was taken to the police station, where the incident was later investigated.
In the FIR, Santosh had mentioned that she has been in a relationship with Ajmal for the past one year and wanted to marry him in Delhi. According to TOI, a group of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) members intercepted the matter and tried to explain to Santosh that she was being ‘coerced’ into marriage by a Muslim man. Santosh then explained that she is marrying Ajmal with her own consent and the inter-faith marriage is not against her wants/will. © Unsplash Recently, a groom was seen working at his mandap on his wedding day. A video has now gone viral on the internet where a groom can be seen taking things a little too far where he was sitting with his laptop at the mandap at his wedding. He was seen working, while the guests sat around him.

‘Watch Before Commenting’, Ashwin Contradicts Gavaskar’s Vague Remarks About ‘The Hundred’

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is known for his variations on the field, is equally vocal about anything happening in the world of cricket and right now, the one thing that is hogging all the limelight is ‘The Hundred’. Whenever someone tries to tinker with the traditional format, there is always plenty of chatter around it and the same holds true for the new eight-team tournament, which has left both fans and experts divided. View this post on Instagram Having watched a couple of games on TV, former Indian batting great Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t too impressed with the tournament because he felt that the cricket was “ordinary” and the broadcast was full of “basic mistakes”.  Ashwin, on the other hand, welcomed the innovation and slammed those who are criticising the tournament without even going to the stadium themselves, taking an indirect dig at Gavaskar who made his mind after following the games on TV.  © Instagram/Ravichandran Ashwin “Those who did not understand this format commented vaguely about frequent changes in rules and formats. To many, innovation is not encouraged and is often misunderstood. When someone films a movie, we should watch it in the theatre and then criticise it. Making irrelevant comments even before going to the theatre does not work. We should appreciate the attempt and give credit to it,” Ashwin said in a video posted on his YouTube channel.
Currently in England with India’s Test squad, Ashwin watched a women’s game between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals. Impressed by the quality of female cricketers, Ashwin was confident that the future of women’s cricket was bright and we would get to see a full-fledged women’s IPL very soon.  © AP “I watched a women’s game between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals. Though names were different, the game was outstanding, and women’s cricket is here to stay. I’d be glad if women’s IPL is all set to happen,” said the off-spinner.
Gavaskar’s Comments © Reuters “Having seen it on TV, the only word that comes to mind is insipid. The cricket is ordinary and the coverage average with basic mistakes in player information which, if made in the sub-continent, would have been mocked at especially by former England players, not to speak of the headlines that the tabloids would have generated,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Mid-Day.
“The former players are raving about the crowds but here too as yet the fierce loyalty of the franchise fans is not seen. Maybe, the experience at the ground is different but as far as first impressions go, it's not been a great one,” said the batting great. View this post on Instagram Innovation is key to success and this holds true even for the game of cricket.   When T20 cricket was first introduced, similar apprehensions were made as many thought it would kill Test cricket and even affect the 50-over game but nothing of that sort has happened so far. In fact, the arrival of various T20 leagues across the globe have only made cricket more popular, bringing in more crowds to the stadiums.  So, as Ashwin said, we should appreciate the innovation and give it at least some time and experience it first-hand before passing on any judgements.

B Praak Recreates (Ruins) Epic Song ‘Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana’ & 90s Kids Are Super Mad

Bollywood is not just a film industry. It’s an emotion for the desis and we don’t let anyone mess with the music and movies, especially the cult classics that we (90s kids) are seriously attached to.  We would die before we’d let anyone so much as think of remaking Andaz Apna Apna with newly-launched star kids. © Vinay Pictures The same goes with the songs that we feel close to. And, Bollywood has a serious problem of remixing, recreating, basically ruining the classic songs we love so much.
Although some do turn out better than the original (case in point ‘Tamma Tamma Again’ and ‘Laila Main Laila’), most are just trash and take the essence out of the song.  © Dharma Productions B Praak has been on the receiving end of a lot of flak from 90-born janta because he just recreated two classic songs from the golden era and didn’t do justice to them.
© Instagram/B Praak First, it was the legendary Jagjit Singh’s ‘Koi Fariyad’ and now, it is every aashiq’s anthem, ‘Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana’ from the movie Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein.
© Pooja Entertainment The soulful song is originally sung by KK and features Madhavan who’s expressions are everything in the music video. It’s such a simple and melodious song, why would anyone want to recreate it?
© Pooja Entertainment Here it is if you want to listen to B Praak’s rendition of it.
People are not amused and we don’t blame them. Here is how the desis reacted to the rendition: How to ruin a classic?
I will have to go back and listen to original one at least 5 times to undo what i just have witnessed. — Shubham Shandilya (@ShubhamShandil1) July 27, 2021This guy is still better — Not Libtard (@NotLibtardd) July 29, 2021Why ????????

Transforming a melody by the legel KK to a cacophony is blasphemy.

This guy should be put in a sound proof room and forced to listen to this noise in repeat loop. — Vig (@vignayak) July 27, 2021This guy is still better — Not Libtard (@NotLibtardd) July 29, 2021Plz stop recreating the legendary songs.....it's a request for the sake of humanity.... pic.twitter.com/tHm35jzmgh — Iamgroot (@Sinchan4u) July 28, 2021yess no wonder @BPraak is good at his own created art..! but the song with soft yet emotional is ruined..!! sorry to say a masterpiece is created once .. twice its just a piece — jass (@jassanjhkaurluv) July 28, 2021Stop screwing with good songs

If you really have talent, then take a flop song and remake it into a hit song.. — ً (@col_hindsight) July 28, 2021B Praak is a talented artist, no doubt and has given a number of good songs including ‘Filhaal’ and ‘Teri Mitti’. But we think the music industry should stick to the original songs and leave the classic alone. Don’t touch the 90s songs, at least.  © Instagram/B Praak Or maybe as one user suggested, take a hated, annoying song and turn it into a hit remix. You could start with ‘Tandoori Nights’ or B Praak's very own ‘Baarish Ki Jaye’. The list is endless.

Toyko Olympics 2020 ended in a disappointing fashion for Mary Kom in the Round of 16 after she was defeated by Colombia’s Ingrit Valencia in a close bout as the scorecard read 2-3 against the Indian legend in a split decision by the judges. There comes a time for every legendary athlete to accept defeat after having an incredible career full of achievements, awards, and other accolades that set them apart from the rest of the herd. Mary Kom, already an Olympics bronze medallist, knew that she was now standing at such a stage when the referee rose Valencia’s hand and a tiny teardrop rolled down her cheek. © Twitter/Awanish Sharan The heartbreaking picture of the Indian flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics has reached out to millions and millions of her fans in the country, who are trying their best to make their appreciations reach out of the boxing legend through social media messages and words of encouragement.
Coincidentally, India suffered a similar defeat in a sport a lot different than any other Olympic game and over six years ago, when the Indian cricket team was beaten by the Australian side in the 2015 World Cup semi-final and the then-skipper MS Dhoni was seen holding back his tears during the post-match presentation. ‘Mutual Respect’ Shikhar Dhawan’s Speech Captures Sri Lanka Team’s Interest After T20I Series

The Indian cricket team got completely dominated by the hosting Sri Lankan side in the third and final T20I match, thereby losing the series 1-2. With none of the batters of the Men in Blue able to score more than 23 runs, the entire squad was wrapped up for 81 runs, and the Lions, Dhananjaya de Silva, were able to chase the menial total in just 14.3 overs. A lot of things went wrong for skipper Shikhar Dhawan during this series. First, team all-rounder, Krunal Pandya tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and had to sit out for two out of three matches. Then, as a safety precaution, eight of his teammates, who were suspected to be close to Pandya while he had the virus, were also made to miss out. View this post on Instagram As a result, names like Prithvi Shaw, Surkyakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Ishan Kishan sat in their hotel rooms as Dhawan was burdened with the task of playing back to back T20Is with a bunch of cricketers with little to no international experience. Still, the 35-year old took up the challenge and tried his best as a captain, although a golden duck in the third and deciding match of the series, didn’t help his case much. View this post on Instagram Having said that, there is no denying the fact that Dhawan managed to turn a lot of heads with his leadership and team management skills, especially during the ODI series when he had a full bench strength and knew how and where to deploy the cricketers at his disposal. He also earned the respect of the opposing side and surrounded him after the T20I series was over just to listen to whatever the southpaw had to say to them out of the years and years of experience, regard and sheer sportsmanship. #ShikharDhawan is absolutely awesome!

Imagine #Twitter, if this was #RahulDravid#SLvsIND #Respect

Video: @SDhawan25 pic.twitter.com/vnfsygJP7d — Suvajit Mustafi (@RibsGully) July 29, 2021 Regardless of how depleted the Indian cricket team was, a win is a win and the Sri Lankan squad played the three matches with the grit and passion to not just book the series in their name but also gain the respect of the fans of the Indian cricket team, which is rather difficult and a rare thing to achieve.

Here’s The Surprising Reason Why Apple Hates iPhone Rumours & It Makes Total Sense

It’s no secret that Apple doesn’t like it when leakers spill all the details of an upcoming iPhone months before the launch. In order to stop the rumours, Apple sent an order to a Chinese Citizen to stop spreading rumours about all upcoming Apple products.  In that letter, Apple says why exactly it doesn’t like people spreading leaks and rumours of the upcoming iPhones. The letter says that Apple wants to surprise its customers with new products but it can’t do that when everything gets spoilt by rumours. However, that’s not the surprising reason why Apple hates rumours.  iPhone Rumours Hurt Case Makers  © Unsplash/thai-nguyen There are hundreds if not thousands of companies that make cases and accessories for the iPhone. Many start working on future designs bases on leaks and rumours which can lead to them making cases in the wrong sizes. The reason why case makers tend to do this is that they hope to launch cases on the same day as Apple releases its next handset. This is why they often rely on early leaks and rumours to get the pre-production started.

It says that, because of iPhone rumours that turn out incorrect, “third-party accessory manufacturers may develop and sell mobile phone cases and other accessories that are not actually compatible with the unreleased products.”
This obviously incurs losses to companies who jump the gun and start manufacturing cases that aren’t really compatible with Apple’s latest iPhones.  Apple Likes To Be Mysterious  © Unsplash/carles-rabada However, the primary reason why Apple is trying to shut down leaks and rumours is that Apple wants to introduce the new iPhone to the world itself.
The letter it sent to the Chinese Citizen says, “Apple has made every effort to take strict measures to maintain confidentiality for any information about Apple’s products before their official release to ensure that every time Apple releases a new product, it can surprise the public,” according to Vice. “The secret of Apple’s latest technological innovation is an important part of the company DNA.”

‘It’s Clear Cheating’, Mary Kom Blames Poor Judgment For Tokyo Olympics’ Heartbreaking Loss

Indian boxing legend MC Mary Kom’s bid to win her second Olympic medal came to an end after she was knocked out in the pre-quarterfinals after losing 2-3 to Colombia's Ingrit Valencia in the women's Flyweight (51 kg) event. Her loss sent shockwaves across the country. Not just the fans, even Mary Kom was in utter disbelief that she lost the bout despite winning two of the three rounds. © Twitter After the match, Mary Kom was pretty confident that she had done enough to advance to the next round but was left disappointed with the poor judgement by the International Olympic Committee's Boxing Task Force.
“Well after the end of the first round my coach told me that you have lost 4-1. Then I was surprised as I did not get any punches on my face, in my body, then how come can she get 4 and I get 1? In the second round again we were winning by 3-2, again we won the third round by 3-2. See, what I mean to say is the first round did not come in favour of me, it went to her (Ingrit Valencia),” Mary Kom was quoted as saying by Republicworld.com . "Some sports have legends, some have Mary Kom."

The legendary boxer from #IND gave it her all and then bowed out with a smile on her face

I am telling you many people would have watched my match, I didn't even react that I lost. I reacted as I won. I thought I must be winning the match. So I don't know what's happening, exactly, I do not understand as two rounds were already mine and then the final decision went in her favour."
Disappointed with the loss, the Manipuri boxer alleged the Task Force of “cheating” and ruining her 3-4 years of hard work. If I explain also, I don't know whosoever have seen the match what they will think or feel. But in my opinion, I was winning. I feel so bad, it's very heartbreaking. All my effort, all my struggle, all my hard work for the last 3-4 years - it's gone in seconds," she added.  Former Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju was also surprised with the judgement and consoled the boxer by saying she was the clear winner for the billions of Indian supporters.   For all of us @MangteC was the clear winner but Judges have their own calculations https://t.co/bDxjHFK9MZ pic.twitter.com/gVgSEugq4Q — Kiren Rijiju (@KirenRijiju) July 29, 2021 Not just the poor judgement, Mary Kom took to Twitter to also allege that she was forced to change her ring dress just a minute before her bout. Surprising..can anyone explain what will be a ring dress. I was ask to change my ring dress just a minute before my pre qtr bout can anyone explain. @PMOIndia @ianuragthakur @KirenRijiju @iocmedia @Olympics pic.twitter.com/b3nwPXSdl1 — M C Mary Kom OLY (@MangteC) July 30, 2021 In any other event, the boxers have the option of challenging the judges’ decision but unfortunately that is not the case at Tokyo Olympics, otherwise, Mary Kom would have definitely done that. According to rules, boxers beyond 40 years of age aren’t allowed to take part in amateur boxing events, which means we might never see her in the Olympics again but whatever she has achieved in her glorious boxing career, stretching almost two decades, makes her one of the greatest Indian boxers of all time and she will always be a legend. You are a legend @MangteC didi. We all are proud of you. pic.twitter.com/Qq2crSponN — Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (@mirabai_chanu) July 29, 2021 Mary Kom’s Tokyo Olympics journey might have ended on a rather disappointing note but the 38-year-old boxer will continue to be an inspiration for every Indian fan.   She might have lost the bout but the way she fought after losing the opening round won our hearts.
