  1. this out of people.Which is fine and part of their personality. But there are still people who have to try to keep him upright against motivated foes.Via Mary Kay Cabot of the Darren Fells Jersey , Browns guard Joel Bitonio said he knows he has to prepare for extra effort at times.“It’s one of those things that people, they see Baker’s name, they see him the media, they see some of his quotes and things of that nature, and they want a piece of him,’’ Bitonio said. “And it’s one of those things that we’re going to expect and we’re ready for.“If that’s the way they motivate themselves to play, I just don’t know how someone can play harder. From my perspective, I don’t know how I could go out on the field and be like, ‘This Baker Mayfield guy did something, so I’m going to play harder today.’”Monday’s loss to the 49ers provided a coupe of examples, from Nick Bosa planting an imaginary flag after a sack, as payback from a two-year-old college snub. Then came the Richard Sherman handshake-gate, in which a perceived slight became a massive story for a day.“I feel like you’re already at a point as a professional where you’re playing your hardest, at least I hope so,’’ Bitonio said. “But maybe some guys aren’t at that level. Maybe some guys need it for motivation or to inspire them to do that, but as a professional, I feel like you should be motivated to go out and play. But obviously some guys are using it because we’ve heard it multiple times where teams are saying, ‘Yeah, we want to be motivated by this.’ And that’s what they’re using, so we’ve got to step up to the plate ourselves.”Mayfield’s on his side, so Bitonio doesn’t mind. But the fact other guys are bringing their best because of Mayfield’s big personality makes his job harder sometimes, as well. Until the NFL shortens its preseason, there will be one goal in late July and early August.Stay healthy.Unfortunately, nearly every team sustains significant injuries T. J. Carrie Color Rush Jersey , some of which can be devastating for the regular season. Coaches and general managers will curse under their breath when they lose a key regular, then claim the “next man up” policy will take care of the problem.Sometimes, they are right. Often, the swearing becomes more intense and louder. As teams settle in at sweltering training camps this week, playbooks are distributed (digitally, of course), rookies and other youngsters try to catch the eye of decision makers, and fans wonder what their teams will look like in early September. And beyond.Except, perhaps, in New England. Some things to keep an eye on until the Packers and Bears kick off on Sept. 5 to open the league’s 100th season.BRADY, YES; GRONK, NOWe’re not likely to see much of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady until opening day. We won’t see any of his buddy and standout tight end, Rob Gronkowski, whose battered body caused him to retire. It’s a big blow for the soon-to-be 42-year-old Brady, who somehow manages to overcome such obstacles.“Yeah, it’s the first time in a long time and he was such a great player for our team,” Brady says of Gronk. “I think like any season, things are different and we’re going to have to adjust differently and teams are going to play us differently without him. We’ve seen it even when he’s been on the team.“That’s got to be a position of strength even if it’s not one player but multiple players doing different roles. There were times in my career before that where we had similar approaches. No one’s going to make any excuses for our offense, we’re going to do everything we can to be the best we can be, score every time we touch the ball, and the tight end position’s a big part of our offense and those guys are going to have to do a great job for us.”Those guys include veteran Ben Watson, who also was ready for retirement before opting to come back to New England. But Gronk’s absence is the most critical difference for last season’s champions.COACHING CAROUSELWhen the spinning stopped, new head coaches landed in Tampa, Miami , Green Bay, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Arizona, Denver, and New Jersey.Bruce Arians, Buccaneers — One of two hires with previous head coaching experience (Adam Gase is the other), Arians is charged with developing the talent and instilling maturity in Jameis Winston. The quarterback never has lived up to his top overall draft pick status, but if anyone can push Winston toward elite status, it is QB whisperer Arians.Brian Flores, Dolphins — For a while, it looked as if Miami was ready to tank this season as it reorganizes from top to bottom. But this is not the worst roster in the league. Still, Flores has to prove a Belichick protege can succeed as a head coach.Matt LaFleur, Packers — Aaron Rodgers isn’t the easiest superstar passer to work with, so keep an eye on the transition in Cheesehead Land. The offense should be pretty good if A-Rod is healthy, so the biggest chore is upgrading a previously unreliable defense.Zac Taylor, Bengals — Good luck, Zac. The Bengals have the weakest talent group in the AFC North, with even their stars such as A.J. Green and Geno Atkins carrying big question marks. Of course, if Taylor ever wins one postseason game, he will have outdone Marvin Lewis.Freddie Kitchens, Browns — The idea here is that Kitchens, QB Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will blend their skills and personalities to create a dynamic offense. And, yes Browns Customized Color Rush Jerseys , a winner on the shores of Lake Erie. Of all the new hires, Kitchens might be under the most pressure considering the ramped-up expectations in Cleveland — and the potential for major disruptions.Kliff Kingsbury, Cardinals — Perhaps the strangest hire of this group because Kingsbury had a mediocre record at Texas Tech and was fired. But he specializes in the kind of offense top draftee Kyler Murray favors, and he is innovative. Kingsbury also is stuck with a weak roster.Vic Fangio, Broncos — A career assistant who has built strong defenses for years — including in Chicago last season — Fangio is the latest sideline boss hired by John Elway. He has some studs on D with Von Miller, Chris Harris Jr. and Bradley Chubb, so improvement is possible. Can the offense, with Joe Flacco behind center, do the same?Adam Gase, Jets — Developing Sam Darnold into the franchise QB the Jets believe he will become is Gase’s responsibility. While there’s been substantial turmoil in New York’s front office, the roster has been upgraded with the likes of RB Le’Veon Bell and LB C.J. Mosley. That gives Gase a chance to do what predecessor Todd Bowles could not: make the playoffs.WHO ARE THOSE GUYS?New addresses for veterans now with the Jets, Browns, Raiders, Broncos and Jaguars on offense could have huge impacts. Defensively, the Cowboys, Chiefs, Cardinals, Rams and Redskins made major moves.Le’Veon Bell, Jets — Bell will get plenty of work as a runner and receiver, and is critical to turning Darnold into a dangerous quarterback — and the Jets into a contender.Odell Beckham Jr., Browns — If the histrionics and selfish attitude disappear, Beckham could link with Mayfield for the best pass-catch combination in football.Antonio Brown, Raiders — If the histrionics and selfish attitude disappear, Brown might make Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock look very wise with this trade.Joe Flacco Cleveland Browns T-Shirts , Broncos — Flacco got hurt and lost his job to Lamar Jackson last year; he would have lost it eventually anyway. So Flacco gets a freshstart in the Rockies, but his receiving group is very questionable.Nick Foles, Jaguars — The most intriguing move of the offseason. Foles was perfect for Philadelphia’s offense, and the Jaguars want to be more of a running team. There is something special about Foles, though, so don’t doubt him.Earl Thomas, Ravens — Jerry Jones coveted this premier safety for years and didn’t get him for Cowboys. Baltimore gets a somewhat battered player who should become a leader in the secondary and locker room, and will never give less than his all.Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu, Chiefs — Had the Chiefs boasted any sort of defense in ’18, they probably would be NFL champions. Now, they can boast a little bit, with Clark supplying a pass rush and Mathieu playmaking everywhere.Terrell Suggs, Cardinals — This is likely Suggs’ last stop in a Hall of Fame-caliber career. He might get a lot of sacks, but the end game is the Cardinals won’t contend even if he does dominate blockers.Eric Weddle, Rams — Savvy and versatile, though a bit beyond his prime, Weddle joins an already stout defense that lost an important cog in safety Lamarcus Joyner.Landon Collins, Redskins — It was bad enough the Giants allowed their best defender to leave in free agency. Then he goes to a division rival, where he immediately is a huge upgrade. Collins should be very active in Washington — especially when the Giants are the opponent.

The NFL playoffs begin today as four of the 12 remaining teams begin the postseason march towards Super Bowl LIV. The quest begins with both AFC Wild Card games today Rashan Gary Jersey , as the matchups in thst conference for Divisional weekend will be determined. First up, the Houston Texans host the Buffalo Bills in a common sight for Houston: playing in the weekend's first game on Saturday afternoon. After that, however, NFL fans are in for an unusual sight. The New England Patriots have received a first round bye in each of the past nine seasons, but this year they will play on the opening weekend for the first time since 2009.Will New England advance to face the Chiefs in a rematch of last year's AFC Championship? Or will the Titans pull an upset and send New England home early this year? Tune in today to find out. GAME 1: Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans NRG Stadium, Houston, TX3:35 PM CT (4:35 ET) ABC/ESPNPoint spread: Texans -2.5GAME 2: Tennessee Titans at New England PatriotsGillette Stadium Vince Biegel Color Rush Jersey , Foxboro, MA8:15 PM ETCBSPoint spread: Patriots -5 For the past several years, Mike Daniels has been a mainstay on the Green Bay Packers’ defensive line. Daniels finally earned his first Pro Bowl appearance a year ago — which was long overdue — and up until 2018 he had missed just four games in his six-year NFL career.Unfortunately, it appears that Daniels will miss more than that number of games in 2018 alone. A foot injury that Daniels suffered last Thursday night in Seattle put his immediate availability in question for the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings, but it could keep him out well longer than that. In fact, there’s a chance that Daniels may not return at all over the final six weeks of the regular season.Speaking to reporters on Friday, Daniels revealed a bit more about the injury , which had him visibly frustrated. “I’ve never had a serious injury before outside of getting surgery in college,” Daniels said. He added regarding a potential return that “everything’s up to what the doctors say and I don’t have an exact timetable.”However, when asked specifically about whether he felt he could get back on the field this season, Daniels sounded like someone who was hopeful but not optimistic: “I always keep the hope alive; you never know what can happen,” he said. “You just never know, so I can’t make any predictions. I’m just taking it day after day and taking my rehab very seriously.”Head coach Mike McCarthy already confirmed that Daniels would likely be out for a few weeks, but had not given any indication that he might be shut down for the season. Still Quinten Rollins Jersey , the Packers have little depth on the defensive line, particularly with Muhammad Wilkerson already suffering a season-ending injury earlier this year. Kenny Clark is the only healthy week-one starter remaining, as Dean Lowry has filled in for Wilkerson while Montravius Adams is expected to be the primary replacement for Daniels. The Packers are still expected to add a lineman to the active roster sometime before Sunday’s game, but they would need to open up a roster spot to do so. Placing Daniels on injured reserve would be a worst-case scenario, but if the medical staff feels bearish on his chances of playing again in 2018, that could very well be a possibility.
  3. Mahomes and Texans counterpart Deshaun Watson goes back well beyond the 2017 draft Darius Leonard Color Rush Jersey , when along with Mitchell Trubisky they were considered among the best prospects at their position. It goes back to their college days, when Mahomes was orchestrating the "Air Raid" offense at Texas Tech and Watson was trying to navigate Clemson to a national championship."I think we were going into our junior year," Mahomes recalled, "and we went to a QB camp out in California. I talked to him, back and forth, about how he did his stuff at Clemson, how I did my stuff at Texas Tech. He's a great player. We kind of hit it off."They stayed in touch during the draft process, too."We took a lot of the same visits," Mahomes said, "and we went to the same places , and we would talk to each other about what we went through. But we didn't necessarily knew where we would go."Nobody did.Trubisky wound up going second overall to Chicago. And when nobody grabbed a quarterback in the next eight picks, the Chiefs traded up to No. 10 and chose Mahomes over Watson as the heir apparent to Alex Smith. Watson wound up going two picks later to the Texans. All three quarterbacks have flourished to some extent. On Sunday, two of them will get to square off when Mahomes leads the Chiefs (4-1) against Watson and the Texans (3-2) at Arrowhead Stadium."He's been doing a heck of a job putting the Chiefs in contention each and every game, and putting up a lot of great numbers," Watson said, "because that's what he's been doing his whole career, and just being that leader — he's doing a heck of a job for that organization."Yes, it was Mahomes who rewrote the record books during his MVP season a year ago, and he is off to another blazing start this season. But it is Watson who comes into the AFC showdown with the hot hand, having thrown for 426 yards and five touchdowns while running for 47 yards last week against Atlanta."He's a heck of a player. We had him in here before the draft Clayton Geathers Jersey ," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. "We thought the world of him. I know he was a heck of a player in college and he carried it over and he's playing really good football. I don't know exactly what they're asking and not asking him to do, but whatever they're asking him to do, he's doing it well."The matchup Sunday is more than just Mahomes vs. Watson, though. Here are some other story lines:INJURY BUGThe Chiefs hope to get wide receiver Tyreek Hill on the field for the first time since breaking his collarbone Week 1 in Jacksonville. But they are poised to play without several key players, such as wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring), defensive tackle Chris Jones (groin) and left guard Andrew Wylie (ankle).INJURY BUG, PART IITexans wide receiver Kenny Still is still recovering from a hamstring injury, though it appears his bothersome ankle is finally better. Elsewhere, interior offensive lineman Greg Mancz has been out with a concussion and running back Taiwan Jones has been slowed by a hip injury.MANO-A-MANOThe Colts slowed down the Chiefs by playing a bunch of man-to-man defense, and the Texans are likely to follow the same blueprint. But the Chiefs also have spent the week trying to fix their issues from last week Nate Hairston Color Rush Jersey , resulting in an intriguing offense-defense chess match Sunday."They obviously played a great game," Texans defensive end J.J. Watt said of the Colts. "They went in there and stuck to their game plan and executed very well and came out with the win."BEWARE THE HONEY BADGERTyrann Mathieu picked off his first pass as a member of the Chiefs last week, and he'd like nothing more than to get his second against the Texans. Mathieu had a big year with Houston last season, and the club wanted to keep him around, only to see the Chiefs win the bidding in free agency.12 ANGRY MENOne of the most effective personnel groups for Houston this season has been "12 personnel," which means a set with one running back and two tight ends. But why has it worked so well?"It's a good question," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "It has a lot to do with what you're going to see defensively. We've got a lot of different combinations of personnel groupings we can use and we try to study and we try to think about, defensively, how they're going to attack it. 'What personnel are they going to use? What's going to be their scheme, and how does that fit what we want to do?' ... And sometimes it works. Hopefully it works more than it doesn't." If there’s any testament to how smart Chris Ballard is , it’s the acquisition of guard Quenton Nelson. The Colts drafted Nelson in the first round of the 2018 draft and he came out swinging..." Colts NewsA Birthday Tribute to Quenton Nelson New,20commentsEDTIf there’s any testament to how smart Chris Ballard is, it’s the acquisition of guard Quenton Nelson. The Colts drafted Nelson in the first round of the 2018 draft and he came out swinging immediately. Andrew Luck was one of the most protected quarterbacks in the league in 2018, thanks to the firing squad known as Indy’s offensive line. An absolute monster in pass protection, Nelson led the team in pass-blocking grade and allowed just 23 pressures on 730 pass-blocking snaps. “There’s so many things to love about him,” head coach Frank Reich told Good Morning Football’s Peter Schrager. “He’s always striving to get better. It’s contagious in our locker room. If you wanna see how to finish blocks, just watch him play.” Nelson’s rookie campaign left Colts fans with a lot of hope for the future. He became the first guard to be awarded Rookie of the Month in October. Pro Football Focus nominated him as a top tier offensive lineman. He appeared in the Pro Bowl AND went First-Team-All-Pro. This guy is the real deal. In spirit of Nelson’s birthday today, I’ve rounded up five of his best moments in 2018. 5. Nelson vs. Cincinnati’s Geno Atkins 4. Nelson vs. Washington’s Pernell McPhee 3. Nelson vs. Tennessee’s Kevin Byard 2. Nelson vs. Jacksonville’s Barry Church 1.Nelson v. Houston’s Jadeveon Clowney Honorable mention: Quenton Nelson as Cardi B Happy birthday, Big Q. C. J. Prosise Color Rush Jersey

RENTON C. J. Prosise Color Rush Jersey , Wash. (AP) — In the grand scheme of things, serving as the backup to Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is mostly meaningless.A year ago, Wilson took every snap in the regular season and the playoffs. In 2017, backup Austin Davis took five snaps. In 2016, Trevone Boykin took 53 snaps, the most of any QB to have served as Wilson’s backup in Seattle. But it’s still an important position and one the Seahawks will begin to get a better feel for when they open the preseason hosting Denver on Thursday night. The competition between Geno Smith and Paxton Lynch has provided flashes of promise as well as a few cringe-worthy moments.“They understand it’s going to be a tough competition. That goes a long way,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. “Ultimately, it’s going to come down to who can move the team and who can score points for us in the preseason.”Smith would appear to be the leader just based on his experience. Smith spent last season as a backup with the Los Angeles Chargers after the majority of his career was spent in New York with the Jets and Giants. He’s five seasons removed from being a full-time starter with the Jets, but he has played in 40 career games — eight times more than Lynch.“I got a lot of confidence in myself. I know that I can do a lot of things on the field,” Smith said. “I believe that I am a starter, I just need another opportunity.”Lynch was a disappointment in Denver after being taken in the first round of the 2016 draft. He was released before the start of the 2018 season. He’s started just four games in his career, with the Broncos winning only one. Seattle has been intrigued by Lynch’s combination of size and running ability, but his passing has been inconsistent.“I was sitting on the couch watching games last year, so just having the opportunity to be out here playing with a team and having teammates again and having guys and going to work every day has brightened me up and picked up my spirits a lot,” Lynch said.Considering the expectations that surround a first-round selection, spending last season out of football was humbling for Lynch. If he doesn’t win the backup job, Lynch could be a practice squad candidate.“It’s hard doing something you love for so long and getting used to it season in, season out and then it kind of gets taken away from you,” Lynch said. “But it gave me a really good opportunity to sit back and evaluate myself as a person and what I’ve done to this point, try to be grateful for the things that I had accomplished up to this point and I also took a lot of time to get better.”Seattle’s mock game Saturday was a prime example of the mix of good and bad seen from both quarterbacks. Lynch didn’t have any highlight plays, but completed 7 of 11 passes. Smith made some questionable throws — including a pass that bounced off the crossbar and was “intercepted” by Poona Ford and returned for a touchdown that didn’t count — but he also led a touchdown drive on the final series of the scrimmage. The serious evaluation begins Thursday and is likely to go through the final week of the preseason.NOTES: LB Bobby Wagner underwent an undisclosed procedure on his knee that will keep him out a couple of weeks, coach Pete Carroll said Monday. “He has had the procedure before, it’s not his first time,” Carroll said. “The reason I’m not telling you what it is is because I don’t know what it is. I would tell you if I knew.” Wagner participated in the Seahawks’ scrimmage over the weekend. … Seattle is still trying to determine whether TE Ed Dickson needs surgery on his knee. Carroll said if Dickson does need surgery, it would likely be a six-week recovery. … WR DK Metcalf may play Thursday after missing Seattle’s scrimmage with an oblique injury. Earl Thomas is active for the Seattle Seahawks despite missing a couple of days of practice this week for personal reasons that only added fuel to speculation about his future with the team.Center Justin Britt was also active despite suffering a shoulder injury late in last week’s loss to Chicago. But he may only be used in an emergency situation with Ethan Pocic also out.Dallas will be without starting center Travis Frederick, who had already been ruled out due to illness.Receiver Travis Benjamin is missing his second straight game with a right foot injury as the Los Angeles Chargers visit the Los Angeles Rams. Defensive end Joey Bosa is missing his third game this season with a foot injury.Rams kicker Sam Ficken replaces All-Pro Greg Zuerlein. Rookie WR KhaDarel Hodge is active for the Rams, potentially making his NFL debut.Arizona tight end Jermaine Gresham (Achilles) and defensive end Markus Golden (knee) are active for first time this season. Both are coming off significant surgeries. Starting right tackle Andre Smith (elbow) is out for second straight game.Inactives for Sunday’s games:DALLAS-SEATTLECowboys: QB Mike White, WR Brice Butler, LB Chris Covington, C Travis Frederick, G Xavier Su’a-Filo, TE Dalton Schultz, DT Maliek CollinsSeahawks: WR Doug Baldwin, RB C.J. White Chris Ivory Jerseys

After their disappointing loss to the Green Bay Packers White Chris Ivory Jerseys , the Buffalo Bills look to right the ship at home against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans, under new head coach Mike Vrabel, are off to a great start in 2018. They are 3-1 with big division wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans. Here are three crucial items to watch for as the Bills look to defend their dirt. Will the Bills be able to score? After the shutout in Green Bay, the Bills now rank 31st in the NFL in scoring. On the other sideline, the Titans have allowed the 7th fewest points in the league. It appears that former New England Patriots player and coach, and rookie Titans head coach Chris Ivory Jerseys 2019 , Mike Vrabel has his defense humming. Can the offensive line get it together? The Bills’ offensive line is ranked 32nd in the league after their week four debacle. The coaches have only made one change to the line this season. They replaced Ryan Groy with Russell Bodine as the starting center in the lead up to the game against the Minnesota Vikings. Will they make any more changes after a brutal game in Green Bay?Injuries in the secondaryThe Bills’ best defensive player, Micah Hyde, left the Packers game in the first quarter and did not return. Hyde and his backup, Rafael Bush, did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Buffalo brought in free agent CB Dontae Johnson to fill the void that may be left by one or both safeties. With the NFL trade deadline quickly approaching, there continues to be conversation around the Buffalo Bills and the team’s interest in acquiring a wide receiver. In the latest edition of Breaking Buffalo Rumblings White Jeremy Kerley Jerseys , the discussion centers around the recent article fromAlbert Breer of The MMQB, which states the Bills were interested in acquiring Emmanuel Sanders. The second half of the podcast takes a closer look at the Bills’ remaining schedule, with some predictions for the ten games left to play this season. 6. They added two players Youth Mark Bavaro Jerseys , signing free agent kicker Joey Slye and claiming receiver Da’Mari Scott off waivers from the Bills. The Giants also cut defensive back Tony Lippett and received a commissioner’s exemption for defensive back Kamrin Moore. The team suspended Moore team last week after his alleged involvement in a domestic violence incident.Slye, a rookie from Virginia Tech, spent a week with the Giants in May.Scott (pictured) played three games for the Bills last season but did not have a reception. He entered the NFL as a rookie free agent, signing with the Browns last spring.Scott was on the Browns’ practice squad and then the active roster before his release Dec. 1. He was signed to the Bills’ practice squad four days later before Buffalo promoted him to the active roster on Dec. 8.The Giants signed Lippett on Oct. 25 Mark Bavaro Jerseys Stitched , 2018, and he played three games for the team. The Bears spent the entire offseason obsessing about a missed 43-yard field goal in January. But they told quarterback Mitchell Trubisky not to talk about something that happened last week.Via Rich Campbell of the , the Bears quarterback said: “I was told not to talk about the last game.”Specifically, Trubisky had been asked to go through a failed run-pass option against the Packers last week Color Rush Darius Slayton Jersey , and he turned to a team spokesman next to him and replied: “No.”Asked who told him not to discuss the loss to the Packers, he mentioned the spokesman “amongst other people.”Apparently, this is part of a Bears strategy to prevent Trubisky from getting stuck on negative outcomes and proceeding to the next thing.“Offensively, you identify the problem Youth Darius Slayton Jersey , you fix it and you move on,” coach Matt Nagy said. “You don’t dwell on it. I don’t deal with that well, so I’m not going to sit here and be negative. I’m not going to dwell on it; I’m going to use it.”Trubisky seemed to have received the talking point.“All the mistakes we made, they’re all fixable Womens Darius Slayton Jersey ,” he said. “So we’re going to come in here with solutions, come in with a positive work attitude and go to work. And make sure we’re bouncing around at practice today, fixing our mistakes and moving on to the next game.”While keeping the confidence of your quarterback up is a reasonable goal, telling an adult what he can and cannot talk about is a strange tactic. Or maybe Trubisky was just observing the Augusta silence.
  7. Recently retired Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long has won his second consecutive “Good Guy Award” from the Professional Football Writers of America.Long is the 15th winner of the award and the first player to earn it in consecutive years. He announced his retirement last month Color Rush Chase Winovich Jersey , ending an 11-year NFL playing career that included winning two Super Bowl titles and the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. He established the Chris Long Foundation in 2015 to impact communities nationally and internationally through programs focusing on clean water, military appreciation and youth education. In 2017, Long donated his entire salary to support education in cities where he has played: St. Louis, Boston and Philadelphia. The award is given to an NFL player for his qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their jobs. The award has been presented annually by the PFWA since 2005.“We appreciated Chris’ thoughtfulness and accessibility during his final year in the NFL,” said Zach Berman Youth Chase Winovich Jersey , the president of the Philadelphia chapter of the PFWA who covers the Eagles for the Philadelphia Inquirer.Other nominees included Bears cornerback Prince Amukamara, Patriots safety Devin McCourty, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, 49ers tackle Joe Staley and former Ravens safety Eric Weddle, who’s now with the Rams. The world champion New England Patriots will have some busy weeks ahead: 24 of the players on the team’s 2018 pay roll — either on the active roster or a reserve list — will enter free agency in about a month Womens Chase Winovich Jersey , with 18 of them set to hit the unrestricted market. One of the position groups that could see significant turnover soon is the defensive line: players like Trey Flowers, Malcom Brown and Danny Shelton all will see their contracts expire soon. And even though there is certainly a chance that all or at least some of them return or get extended before that happens, New England might look drastically different in the defensive trenches next season. It is therefore no surprise that the Patriots adding to their line with the 32nd overall selection in this year’s draft is a popular projection among analysts. One of them — Pro Football Focus’ Michael Renner — did just that in his latest mock:A high-upside interior defender to potentially replace the likes of Brown and Shelton, Dexter Lawrence certainly is an intriguing prospect to watch in the late first round: he possesses the athletic skill set and size to become a difference maker at the next level but has not always lived up to his talents at Clemson. That being said, the junior defender has still been productive as a run stuffer and pass rusher as the numbers compiled by PFF illustrate:Photo: Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports / Graphic: Pro Football Focus“Lawrence’s play strength Authentic Chase Winovich Jersey , size and processing skills make him an ideal fit as a 4-3 shade or nose tackle in a 3-4 alignment,” Joe Marino — an analyst for the Draft Network — says about the junior defensive lineman. “While he plays with a hot motor and outstanding effort throughout each rep, Lawrence doesn’t have the juice, flexibility or hand technique to be a consistent pass rusher in the NFL.”“He is capable of pushing the pocket and does well to get his hands in throwing lanes. Lawrence should be an early starter, providing strong contributions on early downs and a consistent winner at the point of attack. He can help a defense become more stout Chase Winovich Jersey Boys ,” Marino continues. Picking the 21-year old would certainly help the Patriots replace either one or both of Brown and Shelton as rotational players alongside returning interior defenders Lawrence Guy and Adam Butler. All in all, the versatile 6’4, 340 lbs defender appears to be a sound selection at the end of the first round: one that might address a need while also bringing an NFL-ready player to New England. In that sense, Dexter Lawrence would become the team’s next Malcom Brown — and possibly prove to be an upgrade over the 32nd overall selection of the 2015 draft.
  8. making incomprehensible decisions while running his football team. The latest incomprehensible decision came yesterday as he guaranteed Adam Gase’s job security into the 2020 season. Remember C.J. Mosley Jerseys Stitched , nobody has any idea how the final seven games of the season will go. This erratic leadership style has helped to keep the Jets at the bottom of the league during his tenure. On today’s podcast I discuss this latest development. Then things move into our weekly mailbag. Thanks once again to those who submitted questions. If yours went unanswered on this week’s show, feel free to send it in again next week.In this mailbag we address whether Johnson could change his mind, whether the Jets should have claimed Vernon Hargreaves, whether the Jets should look to trade down no matter what, whether Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield has been more disappointing this season, and more. Thanks for listening. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Obum Gwacham wanted to catch footballs from the time he started playing the sport. Now, the New York Jets linebacker is chasing after the guys who are throwing them.“You can also catch the ball on defense, too,” Gwacham said with a big smile. “So if I’m able to do that, I would not be mad at all.”Gwacham — oh-BOOM GWAH-chum — enters the team’s final preseason game Thursday night at Philadelphia hoping to make an impression on Todd Bowles. He’s among several sitting squarely on the roster bubble, but has flashed the type of speed and athleticism that make him an intriguing player.“They want to see an outside linebacker that can power rush Youth Le’Veon Bell Jersey , that can speed rush and can do all those things,” Gwacham said. “They know that I can do that.”The 27-year-old Gwacham has two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit, along with a special teams tackle in the preseason. He’s facing tough competition at the outside linebacker position, with Brandon Copeland, Frankie Luvu, Dylan Donahue, Lorenzo Mauldin and David Bass all jockeying for spots behind projected starters Jordan Jenkins and Josh Martin.Gwacham is also still learning the nuances of playing defense after spending most of his college career at Oregon State as a wide receiver. He didn’t play defense regularly until his senior season.“I’ve been trying to work on getting tackles’ hands off me as soon as I can, so I can turn that edge faster and get to the quarterback,” he said. “I just want to get around the edge as fast as I can.”Gwacham is certainly used to finding different paths to achieve his goals. He was born in Onitsha, Nigeria, and spent his early years in a high-rise in Lagos, where his mother Caroline owned a jewelry store. She and her husband Edwin raised five children — two boys Le’Veon Bell Jersey Stitched , including Obum, and three girls — while trying to provide them a solid life.“I remember school, and I had to be trilingual,” Gwacham recalled. “I had to know English, French and Igbo. My sister is planning to get married in Nigeria next year. She sent out some pictures of our old house and a lot of memories came back. I remember our auntie cooking for us when my mom was working and I remember us acting a fool in the house when I was younger.”Gwacham — whose name means “Son of God” — was just 7 when his family packed up and headed to the United States with hopes for a brighter future. They had won a visa lottery, which allowed them to emigrate to the U.S. The family lived with relatives in southern California before settling in their own place in Chino Hills. Sports became a bonding activity.Gwacham played soccer and learned about football, basketball and track from his older cousins and siblings. By the time he got to high school, he was already an outstanding athlete. And, his mom finally allowed him to play football.“I felt as though I was a little different from the other kids,” Gwacham said. “I was a little bit taller, a little bit faster than them.”He played wide receiver and cornerback at Ayala High School. The 6-foot-5 Gwacham also excelled in track, where he ranked among California’s best athletes in the high jump Infant Blake Cashman Jersey , triple jump and long jump. That’s how he first drew the attention of Joe Seumalo, then the defensive line coach at Oregon State.“The thing that always intrigued me about Obum was his 6-foot-10 high jump,” said Seumalo, now the D-line coach at San Jose State. “I knew that validated the fact that he was explosive, a very freakish athlete. When we recruited him, I was able to get on the table and convince people that, yeah, this kid is raw, but he was 6-5, 220.”Gwacham visited Oregon State’s campus in Corvallis and fell in love with the school. He joined the football and track teams, and continued to impress with his athleticism in both sports.“I was probably the heaviest high jumper because at the time, I was about 225 Blake Cashman Jersey Draft , 230, and going up against guys who were 160, 170 or so,” said a smiling Gwacham, now listed at 246.In football, Gwacham insisted on playing wide receiver, despite Seumalo urging the youngster to play defense. He was buried on the depth chart, though, behind the likes of Brandin Cooks and Richard Mullaney and saw little action. Gwacham played frequently on special teams, though.Entering his senior season in 2014, he finally agreed to take Seumalo’s advice and switched to defensive end.“I told him, ‘Boom Blake Cashman NFL Jersey , I just need you to run. I need you to run by or through somebody. And, you just need to go,'” Seumalo said. “And, that’s what he did.”Gwacham finished tied for third on the team with four sacks and had 27 tackles as a top backup. It was also enough to get him an invitation to the NFL combine. He was drafted in the sixth round by Seattle in 2015, and claimed by New Orleans off waivers later that season. Gwacham had 2½ sacks for the Saints in nine games as a rookie, but was hurt most of the 2016 season. He was among New Orleans’ final cuts last September and was signed to Arizona’s practice squad, from where he was plucked by the Jets last October.Gwacham had two tackles on defense and two on special teams in five games with New York. Now, he hopes to stick by catching quarterbacks.“Once you’re in the NFL, you’ve got to find a way to stand out from everyone else,” Gwacham said. “It helps to be a little bit explosive. If I’m able to get a good turn off the edge and I feel the quarterback about to throw, I can try to anticipate and jump and swat the ball. Whatever I can do.”

Diggs and Thielen had eight receptions apiece.“It just kind of shows his character, shows what kind of player he is, to be able to just not really care what people talk about him, not really care about what happened last week,” Thielen said of Cousins, adding: “The throws he was making, his full game was really impressive. That’s what you expect out of him.”Sheldon Richardson had two sacks to lead the defense’s game-long stifling of Aaron Rodgers, and the Vikings (6-4-1) pushed the Packers (4-6-1) further back in the NFC wild card race. The Vikings won a night game for the first time this season after losing to the top three teams in the NFC: to the Rams in Los Angeles, at home to the New Orleans Saints and at Chicago in a two-interception game by Cousins against the first-place Bears. The Vikings entered the weekend with the fourth-most turnovers in the NFL, and Cousins has been charged with 13 of the 16 giveaways. Coach Mike Zimmer was so impressed by the way Cousins played against the Packers that he gave him the game ball in the locker room afterward .“Last week left a bad taste in our mouths,” Cousins said, “and the chance to come back on Sunday night football against a division rival at home was a great opportunity Minnesota Vikings Jerseys 2019 , and I’m glad we made the most of it.”Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Davante Adams and Aaron Jones scored on a short run for a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the Packers fell to 0-6 on the road this season and 1-5-1 against the Vikings in their last seven meetings. Their final seven possessions produced only one field goal, with five punts and one turnover on downs.“We’ve all got to play better, myself included,” Rodgers said. “Started off the game nice. We had a couple good drives. We’re rolling there. We hit our unfortunate typical lull and didn’t get it going again.”With Randall Cobb out (hamstring) for a sixth game this season and rookies Equanimeous St. Brown (elbow) and Trevor Davis (hamstring) forced out in the second half, Rodgers didn’t have much to work with down the field. Left guard Lane Taylor (quadriceps) departed in the first half and left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) was sidelined in the second half, leaving the protection shaky at best. Rodgers finished 17 for 28 for 198 yards, without a turnover. The Packers failed to move the chains on eight of 10 third downs. Jones was stuffed on fourth-and-inches by Harrison Smith, Danielle Hunter and Eric Kendricks midway through the third quarter, giving the Vikings the ball at the Green Bay 44. That set up a 37-yard field goal by Dan Bailey for Minnesota’s first lead of the game.“We’re definitely not in the position, record-wise, we thought we would be in coming into the year or even after this game. We thought we could get the victory. But unfortunately we ran out of gas,” Packers linebacker Clay Matthews said. “We’re beat up, no doubt about that. But give them credit: They put in a full four quarters.”SLOW STARTThe Vikings outgained the Packers 280-139 in total yardage in the first half, but they had to settle for a tie at the break. About to go for it on fourth-and-inches on the opening drive following a timeout to strategize, they were penalized for 12 men on the field and had to punt.Diggs collided with Thielen when Jaire Alexander crashed their pick play on the second possession, and after Diggs tried to circle back the other way with an ill-fated salvage attempt he lost 10 yards on that reception to lead to another punt.Bailey’s wide left 48-yard try wasted another highlight-reel catch by Thielen in between Alexander and Josh Jones that went for 33 yards. Later in the second quarter, after some mismanagement of the clock, the Vikings had to hustle to set up a 51-yard kick for Bailey. That one was good Minnesota Vikings Jerseys 2019 , but Rashod Hill was called for a false start. The 56-yarder sliced right, the fifth straight missed field goal against the Packers after rookie Daniel Carlson went 0 for 3 in Green Bay and was cut the next day.PACKED AND HAPPY HOUSEThe announced attendance of 66,872 was the largest for the Vikings in three years at U.S. Bank Stadium. A handful of Minnesota players were introduced in the first quarter with Paul Bunyan’s Axe, the trophy the Gophers repossessed from the rival Badgers in Wisconsin on Saturday to end a 14-game losing streak. Randy Moss kept the crowd fired up in a halftime ceremony to receive his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.INJURY REPORTPackers: In addition to the carnage on offense, SS Kentrell Brice aggravated an ankle injury in the first quarter and was knocked out of action in the third quarter with a possible concussion. EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — With a roster built for the Super Bowl, the Minnesota Vikings were in no position to practice patience with a struggling kicker.Rather than hoping Daniel Carlson could refocus after missing all three of his field goal attempts in the tie game at Green Bay, the Vikings waived the rookie on Monday and punted on the fifth-round draft pick they used on him five months ago.Two of Carlson’s misses came in overtime on Sunday, forcing the Vikings to settle for a 29-29 draw with the rival Packers. When asked by a reporter how the decision was reached, coach Mike Zimmer said, “Did you see the game?”Carlson missed from 48 yards in the second quarter and 49 yards in the extra period, before his 35-yard try on the game’s final play also went wide right.“Yeah, it was pretty easy,” Zimmer said. The Vikings didn’t immediately add a replacement for Carlson, but Zimmer confirmed that free agent Dan Bailey was making his way to Minnesota for a physical exam. That made it all but certain the Vikings will sign Bailey, the second-most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history. The 30-year-old was released by the Dallas Cowboys right before the regular season began in a cost-saving move following his injury-influenced regression in 2017.Bailey hurt his groin in the sixth game of the season at San Francisco and missed the next four weeks. Upon his return, he missed five of 13 field goal attempts and also had the first two failed extra points of his seven-year NFL career. With a field goal rate greater than 88 percent, Bailey is behind only Baltimore’s Justin Tucker for the best percentage in league history.Carlson was awarded the job when the Vikings let Kai Forbath go on Aug. 20, and Carlson pulled two field-goal tries wide left in an exhibition game four days later. In the season opener against the 49ers on Sept. 9 Olisaemeka Udoh Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , Carlson converted his only field goal attempt, from 48 yards, plus three extra points. Then came the debacle at Lambeau Field , after which Carlson acknowledged he’d lost some faith in his ability upon lining up for his last try.“It’s disappointing for me personally. The team fought so hard. We expect to win that, and I expect to make those kicks to win the game for the team,” Carlson said. “That last one was probably more just confidence after missing twice early. That is frustrating. That shorter one I should never miss like that.”Since Zimmer took the job in 2014, the Vikings have had plenty of these problems. Blair Walsh never fully recovered from his 27-yard miss in the subzero cold of the playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks after the 2015 season.Walsh was let go midway through the 2016 season in favor of Forbath, whose biggest trouble was extra points. Forbath performed relatively well in 2017 as the Vikings advanced to the NFC championship game, but general manager Rick Spielman sought an upgrade with Carlson, who left Auburn as the all-time leading scorer in Southeastern Conference history.Carlson sent 9 of 10 kickoffs for touchbacks, and the other one was a squib returned for 8 yards to Green Bay’s 31. But all the leg strength in the world won’t make up for any setbacks on the mental side of this pressure-packed job.“That’s life. I don’t know. It’s hard to figure out,” Zimmer said. “You think you’ve got a guy for a while, and then he goes out and misses three in a big game. But things happen I guess.”The Vikings traded two sixth-round picks to the New York Jets for the opportunity to move up in the fifth round for Carlson.“That’s water off a duck’s back,” Zimmer said. “We’ll get some more sixth-rounders next year. I’m not worried about that.”The Vikings signed wide receiver Aldrick Robinson, a seventh-year veteran who was most recently with San Francisco and played with quarterback Kirk Cousins in Washington in 2012 and 2013.“He really liked him. He’s a fast guy,” Zimmer said.

GREEN BAY Color Rush Dexter Williams Jersey , Wis. — The Green Bay Packers have fired coach Mike McCarthy and made offensive coordinator Joe Philbin the interim head coach. The move announced by team president Mark Murphy came after a stunning 20-17 loss on Sunday to the Arizona Cardinals, dropping Green Bay to 4-7-1.More Packers coverageBucks’ Wes Matthews loves Wisconsin, is a Vikings fanPreview: Packers look to slow Vikings’ revitalized run gameTop Tweets: Yelich thanks fans for support after season-ending injuryAmos sparks rebuilt Packers defense in debutPackers to be tested again by familiar foe in Zimmer, VikingsMurphy, in a statement, said the 2018 season “has not lived up to the expectations and standards of the Green Bay Packers. As a result, I made the difficult decision to relieve Mike McCarthy of his role as head coach, effective immediately.”Murphy said the process of hiring the next head coach would begin immediately.McCarthy was in his 13th season as coach. The Packers won the Super Bowl under McCarthy in the 2010 season. He finishes with a record of 125-77-2.“Mike has been a terrific head coach and leader of the Packers for 13 seasons, during which time we experienced a great deal of success on and off the field Tramon Williams Jersey ,” Murphy said. But this is a third straight year in which Green Bay has had extended struggles. In 2016, the Packers started 4-6, then won eight straight games to get to the NFC title game, losing to the Atlanta Falcons. Green Bay finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs in 2017, when Aaron Rodgers missed extensive time with a broken collarbone.McCarthy shook up his coaching staff, including bringing Philbin back as offensive coordinator and hiring Mike Pettine to replace Dom Capers as defensive coordinator. Different problems emerged. This year, Rodgers hurt his left knee in the season opener, though he is feeling better now. Receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison have missed time with injuries. The same issues kept popping up for the offense, most glaringly Cheap Dexter Williams Jersey , empty third downs and a lack of explosive plays.Rodgers was asked after the game — but before McCarthy’s firing was announced — how much blame offensive players should get if the Packers made a coaching change after the season.“Yeah, a lot probably. We haven’t played very well,” Rodgers said. “We all take part in the disappointments and the failures that we’ve had this season. We’ve had a number of opportunities. It’s not like we’re getting blown out in a bunch of games. We’re in games.”Cobb’s return on Sunday didn’t help, with the Packers just 3 of 14 on third downs.“I hate to repeat myself, but it’s applicable. … We’re not executing the right way,” Rodgers said.“It’s poor throws, not on the same page with receivers, wrong depth, protection Dexter Williams Jersey Womens ,” he added. “We all have a part in that and we’ve all picked our time to mess up a third down.”The opening play of the fourth quarter was a perfect example of Green Bay’s offensive struggles. Rodgers found Cobb for a 36-yard completion on third-and-11, but the play was wiped out by a holding penalty on right tackle Jason Spriggs.Rodgers said his focus was getting his teammates to “play with that pride” and focus on the next four games.“Yeah, I mean I’m not even thinking about that right now,” Rodgers said when asked if he would have any role after the season with general manager Brian Gutekunst or Murphy about what direction they should go with the coaching staff. The offensive players, Rodgers said, bear blame for whatever happens in the future.“Yeah, a lot probably,” he said. “We haven’t played very well.”Khalil Mack trade: Bears agree to trade for Raiders' star DE, per report For much of the preseason Dexter Williams Green Bay Packers Jersey , the Green Bay Packers have been seen as front runners to land star defensive end Khalil Mack. The fifth year star and 2016 defensive player of the year wants a new deal, and the Oakland Raiders have been resistant to giving it to him. Instead, they have determined that the best plan for their franchise is to trade him away. And as of Saturday morning, it appears that Mack is indeed headed to the NFC North, but not to the Packers. Instead, ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that the Bears have an agreement in place to acquire Mack. The Bears appeared to be on an upward trajectory this year, thanks in part to a largely new coaching staff including head coach Matt Nagy. The team also made some significant moves in free agency, particularly on offense. However, the team retained defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and drafted linebacker Roquan Smith for the middle of the D. Adding Mack would give the Bears a huge upgrade in their pass rush Dexter Williams Jersey 2019 , as third year linebacker Leonard Floyd has yet to fully break out.Compensation for the Raiders has not yet been reported, but the word is that they are still seeking two first round draft picks. The Packers are the only team to hold two picks in the first round in 2019, but a package of a potentially higher pick in each of the next two years may have been more appealing.UPDATE: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has reported that the Bears are indeed sending two first round draft picks to Oakland. However, there may be a player going to the Raiders as well. The Packers reportedly made an appealing offer to the Raiders, however. According to NFL Network’s Benjamin Allbright, they were very much in the mix: It is entirely possible that the Raiders simply preferred the Bears’ trade package to the one offered by Packers GM Brian Gutekunst. In that case, Gutekunst can hardly be faulted — clearly he was trying to acquire a game-changing player and was in serious consideration.

  12. What a fantastic win and great way to start your week! Your Minnesota Vikings had their best offensive performance of the season defeating the Detroit Lions 42-30. Ted , Drew and Dave got together to discuss it right after the game. Kevin Stefanski called a brilliant game against Matt Patricia’s squad, Even though the first half was a back and forth affair, Kirk Cousins “willed” [as Ted put it] the Vikings to a win setting the Vikes now at 5-2 for the season and in a solid second place in the division. This being the last division road game, and with all three home games left on the schedule, things are looking better for their prospects to get to the playoffs Womens Chris Doleman Jersey , something Vikings fans all want. Cousins was again outstanding for the third game in a row, throwing for 337 yard and 4TDs. Those touchdowns were spread around to Adam Thielen [on a superb catch in the back of the endzone], Kyle Rudolph, Bisi Johnson and C.J. Ham. Stefon Diggs had the biggest yards day with 142 receiving to add to that too. But the offense wasn’t all passes either, with Dalvin Cook having 142 yards and 2 TDs of his own on the ground and the team 166. The game calling was almost a perfect split between the run and pass working to near perfection against the Lions defense. The offensive line was a huge part of that keeping folks clean most of the time. Matt Stafford had way too many yards [364] and made the game close for the first 3 quarters. The Vikings defense Adrian Peterson Jersey , and Xavier Rhodes in particular, allowed Marvin Jones to have his first 4 TD reception game of his career. On a day when the the defense wasn’t their normal stingy self, it didn’t matter because the offense made up for it. That is a nice thing to see and one that is unusual for a Mike Zimmer team to date. It is quite refreshing and bodes well for the future. All smiles and tons of laughs ahead on this short week as the team gets ready for the Washington Redskins at US Bank Stadium Thursday night. But as the page turns from the preseason to the regular season Sony Michel Jerseys Stitched , head coach Bill Belichick says the team is still trying to figure out exactly what they have in the veteran receiver. In an interview on WEEI, Belichick said Thomas is still a rather unknown quantity for the Patriots at this stage.“That’s a tough question because we’re going on limited information,” he said. “We only activated him for practice right at the end of training camp. Of course, he played in the Giants game. We have to go on what we can go on. I’d say the improvement that he’s shown, and the work ethic, and what he’s been able to do has been good. It’s been to the point where we feel like he’ll be able to make a solid contribution for us this year. The question is ‘where will it go?’ I don’t know if any of us have the answer to that. But at least I know that he’ll work hard, he’s tough and he’s a dependable player who will put everything he has into it. So we’ll see what happens.”Thomas began camp on the physically unable to perform list due to his continued rehab from the Achilles tear he sustained in Houston last season with the Texans.
