  1. Jr. from Browns offseason workouts Jamie Collins Jersey , little attention has been paid to the absence of receiver Jarvis Landry.Details have been scarce regarding Landry’s status. Apparently, he has an injury. With no obligation to disclose information regarding injuries in the offseason, the Browns haven’t said much about Landry’s specific status. On Thursday, coach Freddie Kitchens made it clear that Landry isn’t likely to participate in the team’s upcoming mandatory minicamp.“I do not know that right now,” Kitchens initially said regarding the possibility of Landry taking part. “Probably not.”Asked whether Landry has had any type of medical procedure, Kitchens said, “No Christian Kirksey Color Rush Jersey , it is just more precautionary than anything.”Landry appeared at the opening of Cleveland’s offseason program, at a press conference with quarterback Baker Mayfield and Beckham, a close friend and college teammate of Landry’s. Beckham has been back for only one day since then; Landry quite possibly hasn’t been back at all. Tyrod Taylor has started 46 career games, all in the past four years. But Chargers starting quarterback Philip Rivers has the longest active streak of consecutive starts for a quarterback at 208, tying him for third in NFL history with Peyton Manning. So barring the unexpected, Taylor will not start a game this season.Taylor, though , is approaching this season like he would any other season. He is busy learning the offense after signing with the Chargers as a free agent. “He brings a ton of knowledge to the game,” Taylor said of Rivers, via Chris Hayre of the team website. “He’s played at a very high level basically his entire career. So I’m still learning from him each and every day in the classroom and little things on the field as well.”The additions of Taylor in free agency and Easton Stick in the draft have changed the Chargers’ quarterbacks room. They join Rivers and fourth-year veteran Cardale Jones.“It definitely takes me, Philip – all the veteran guys – to shed any type of light that we have or any type [of experience we’ve had] to the younger players to get us to where we ultimately want to go, which is to win a Super Bowl,” Taylor said.

GREEN BAY Green Bay Packers T-Shirts , Wis. (AP) — Whether it was running through safety Darryl Roberts to start the game or breaking Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams‘ tackle attempt to score a touchdown, Green Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams had the best game of his career in Sunday’s victory at the Jets.Williams carried 15 times for 95 yards and one touchdown, added six receptions for 61 yards. In total, Williams accumulated a career-best 156 yards from scrimmage to help Green Bay earn its first road win of the season, 44-38 in overtime.“I’m just grateful. Grateful,” he said after the game. “I just feel like my hard work and everything is paying off. Just coming out in the game showing the results of all my hard work and everything I’ve been going through. I want to come out here to show my team that I’m ready and working hard every time: the week practices, everything, walk-throughs, doing whatever I can to make sure I’m ready for them in this game.”If that hard work continues to pay off, the Packers might have a good problem next year at running back. Williams, a fourth-round pick last year, opened the season as the team’s No. 1 back, only to be supplanted at midseason by Aaron Jones, a fifth-round pick in 2017. Jones led the NFL in yards per carry before suffering a knee injury in the first quarter last week at Chicago that ended his season. With no other proven options on the roster, Williams played 86 of 91 offensive snaps against the Jets. He responded with the most explosive game of his career. In the first 14 games of this season, Williams didn’t have a single run of 12-plus yards. Jones, meanwhile , had 15 carries of 12-plus yards despite serving a two-game suspension to start the season. In the last two games, however, Williams has four such carries, including runs of 13, 15 and 19 yards against the Jets.“I like both of those players,” interim coach Joe Philbin said on Monday. “I like the way they practice, I like the way they prepare. I think they’re good teammates. I think they’re good in the locker room and they have a good skill set. They can run (and) they can catch the ball.”While Jones is one of the more explosive runners in the league, Williams brings the well-rounded skills. The Jets blitzed relentlessly on Sunday but, other than giving up one sack, Williams was sturdy in providing time to help Aaron Rodgers throw for 442 yards.“There’s a couple where there’s a bunch of green grass,” Philbin said. “They ran some twists and brought guys the other way, they’re coming up the A-gap, and he’s got a lot of space to defend just by the nature of the protection. I thought overall he did a good job there. I like the fact he’s got versatility. You don’t have to take him out of the game if you want to do something specific. He had a nice game.”The Packers will close the season at home against Detroit on Sunday. With undrafted rookie Lavon Coleman, promoted from the practice squad on Saturday, and Kapri Bibbs, added off waivers last week, being the other options on the roster Green Bay Packers Hoodie , expect Williams to be heavily involved in the game plan again.“Same mindset I have all the time, no matter if I’m starting or not starting,” he said. “I’m just going in there doing my job, working hard … trying to punish defenders and see what they about and just give my team juice, just let them know I’m here to help. Block, run, do whatever I can for us to get a ‘W.'”NOTES: The players will be off for Christmas while the coaches were to be off Christmas Eve night and Christmas morning before convening around noon Tuesday to work on the game plan for Detroit. . Why are the Packers playing to win these games at the risk of injuries to key players or worsening their draft positioning? “These are football players. That’s what they’re paid to do,” Philbin said. “They’re paid to represent this great organization and play as well as they possibly can every time they get an opportunity. We understand injuries can happen at any point in time. That’s football. It can happen at any point. I think when you start distinguishing all those different things, I think you lose sight of the real fabric and the heart and soul of what a football team is.” . After a rocky season, Rodgers accounted for 474 total yards and four touchdowns vs. the Jets. “It was a special performance by him, without a doubt,” Philbin said. “Certainly, he helped us score 44 points. There’s no doubt about it, without him we probably wouldn’t have scored 44 points.” Two young defensive backs and a rookie linebacker headline the list of strong performers for the Packers’ 2019 preseason opener." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesAcme Packing Company homepageHorizontal - WhiteAcme Packing Companya Green Bay Packers communityFollow Acme Packing Company online:Follow Acme Packing Company on TwitterFollow Acme Packing Company on FacebookFollow Acme Packing Company on InstagramLog in or sign upLog InSign UpSite searchSearchSearchAcme Packing Company main menuFanpostsFanshotsSectionsPackersOddsAboutMastheadCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 321 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:Packers stock watch: Ty Summers, defensive backs have big evening against TexansTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailPhoto by Dylan Buell/Getty ImagesIn the vast majority of cases, one preseason game will not make or break a player’s chances for a contributing role or a spot on the season-opening roster. However, their performances make up part of the larger picture Elgton Jenkins Jersey , something the Green Bay Packers’ coaching staff will consider as the preseason progresses. After the Packers’ 28-26 exhibition victory over the Houston Texans, several young members of the defense stood out for their big plays while a second-year receiver continues to struggle with drops.Stock upRaven GreeneAfter spending 2018 primarily as a special-teams contributor, Greene returned to the Packers with added muscle and an eye on the hybrid safety-linebacker role that once seemed destined for Josh Jones. Greene had a strong camp by most accounts and followed up on that performance with a nice showing in Green Bay’s preseason opener. Greene’s biggest play came near the end of the first quarter. After Texans running back Taiwan Jones broke through the Packers’ defensive front for first-down yardage, Greene came down from the defensive backfield and punched out the football. Teammate Will Redmond recovered the ball, preventing Houston from putting points on the board in scoring position.Ka’Dar HollmanThough Ka’Dar Hollman arrived in Green Bay with little fanfare, the 2019 sixth-round pick has managed to earn playing time with the No. 1 defense. With Jaire Alexander, Tramon Williams, Kevin King, and Josh Jackson all out for Thursday’s preseason game, Hollman saw plenty of action during the first half.Hollman made the most of his run. On the Texans’ opening possession, he undercut a route to intercept a pass from Joe Webb, forcing the first turnover of the game. Hollman also played tight coverage throughout his time on the field, batting away a pass and keeping his receivers largely under wraps.Ty SummersNo player seemed to do more Thursday night than rookie linebacker Ty Summers. The 2019 seventh-round pick led all players on either team with 10 tackles, nine of them solo. That figure doesn’t include stops Summers made on special teams where seems ready to handle a major role.Because Summers played virtually the entire game, he made his share of mistakes as well. Summers whiffed on multiple tackle opportunities on defense and special teams, including a critical mistake that allowed Webb to turn a third-and-forever into a first-down scramble. Still, given how much positive play Summers put on tape , Thursday represents a net positive.Honorable mentionsTim Boyle - Whereas DeShone Kizer’s stat line from Thursday night hides his tentativeness as a passer, Tim Boyle displayed pose and decisiveness in his reads during the preseason opener. Boyle put his arm on display, finding wideout Allen Lazard on an impressive 27-yard throw into the end zone.Jake Kumerow - Early in the game when the offense struggled to find its footing, Jake Kumerow bailed out his team twice with big third-down conversions. Kumerow has built well on last year’s hype and might earn more than just a roster spot should that trend continue.Darrius Shepherd - The first touchdown of the Matt LaFleur era resulted from a mesh play with rookie Darrius Shepherd making a difficult in-air adjustment to haul in a Kizer pass. Shepherd has gone from a tryout player to a contender for a roster or practice-squad spot in a short period of time.Stock downOren BurksSecond-year linebacker Oren Burks didn’t make any critical mistakes against the Texans. However, he did hurt his shoulder, an injury bad enough to force him out of the game. Given that Burks missed time during the preseason last year with a shoulder injury and never quite found his footing upon his return, another shoulder issue should concern him and the Packers.J’Mon MooreJ’Mon Moore’s talent remains undeniable, but he can’t seem to put it together long enough to leave a positive impression. During Thursday’s exhibition, Moore slipped on routes and dropped multiple passes, including a would-be touchdown. The second-year wideout did manage to haul in a score later that drive, but even in that instance he had to double catch the ball.Moore’s confidence and concentration seems to wane after he makes an early mistake, and that has to concern the Packers given the wideout depth on display since the start of training camp. Moore still has plenty of time to change the narrative, but he faces an uphill battle for a roster spot now.The foghornIf the Packers want to pump up fans, they should probably find something more energizing than a foghorn.

Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsEarlier this afternoon we began to hear rumblings of safety Clayton Geathers and the Indianapolis Colts working on a deal to keep him in a horseshoe. The team confirmed as much soon after that they had indeed agreed to a contract with the 2015 fourth round selection. This is good news for a few reasons. First and foremost, Geathers wanted to be here. He’s also bringing familiarity to the backend of a much improved Colts’ defense, and the oft-injured safety looks to be coming back on a low-risk deal. The Colts look to have passed on the big name free agents who were available, and have decided to “push” on making wholesale changes for at least another year to the secondary. Geathers has averaged just over 10 games per season since being drafted, and has yet to truly become a playmaker in the minds of many. The Colts hope to see his very best yet in the 2019 season. Frank Reich had the Indianapolis Colts ready to play at home against divisional opponent Tennessee. They controlled the pace of the game and won on both sides of the football, and threw crippling blows in the first half. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter, with the game well in hand, that Indianapolis took its foot off of the gas.Luck entered the half 12 of 17 for 195 yards and a touchdown. The running backs combined for 51 yards on 11 carries T.J. Green Color Rush Jersey , good for 4.5 yards per carry, and two touchdowns. These are strong performances in both offensive phases against a defense that was ranked sixth overall heading into the game. The Titans defense came into the game averaging 328 yards allowed and entered half time after giving up 246. They entered the game as the top scoring defense in the league, allowing less than 17 points per game. They went into the half down 24-3.A week ago, the Colts were unable to keep momentum heading into the second half. They nearly allowed Jacksonville to mount a successful comeback. A week ago, the Titans shocked the NFL by soundly beating the New England Patriots. Not the case this week. For either team.In the second half, Andrew Luck was 11 of 12 for 102 yards and two touchdowns. This was good for a game total of 23 of 29 for 297 yards and three touchdowns. This is a 79% completion percentage and good for a QB Rating of 143.8. T.Y. Hilton abused Adoree’ Jackson, hauling in 9 passes on 9 targets for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Colts defense? My goodness, they played as fast as I can recall seeing them play. Matt Eberflus mixed things up all game. The defensive line generated pressure on its own, and well-timed and well-designed blitzes created pressure on Mariota throughout the first half. Tennessee went into the locker room having allowed four sacks, having thrown an interception , and having fumbled the ball (although they recovered it). Oh yeah, Mariota suffered an injury on the final sack of the first half and would not return to the game.I’m not sure I’ve seen an opponent enter the locker room at half time so dejected and defeated. There would be no second half comeback on Sunday as the Colts finished the Titans off 38 - 10.Let’s revisit the keys to the game.CATCH THE DAMN BALLNyheim Hines continues to have issues catching the ball when he is running away from Luck in the backfield. He is lucky his first drop wasn’t a fumble on a backward pass. He only caught 1 of his 3 targets for 20 yards. Marlon Mack also missed a pass his way and Indianapolis will need the rookies to clean this up to be effective moving forward in the season. The backfield is a big part of Frank Reich’s offensive scheme and having hands is a must.RE-ESTABLISH BALANCEThe Colts accomplished this goal. 25 rushing attempts versus 32 passing attempts, for 105 rushing yards and a 4.2 yards per carry average — excluding three kneel downs to close the game. Marlon Mack and Jordan Wilkins both scored rushing touchdowns. The offensive line re-established dominance in the trenches against a formidable defensive front.CONTAIN MARIOTAMy word, did the Colts contain Marcus Mariota. He only ran four times for 17 yards, unless you include a couple of sacks where he was attempting to scramble and couldn’t make it back to the line of scrimmage. The times he did run with the ball left him quickly sliding to avoid hard contact.FIND SOMEONE TO COVER DEEPFrankly, deep passing never became much of an issue. Quincy Wilson picked off Mariota on an under thrown pass when he attempted to test the Colts secondary. There was enough push by the Colts front four on most plays and enough sacks to land that Indianapolis was able to make it through the game without missing Malik Hooker. They will need him to get healthy if they hope to repeat these results to close out the season.PASS RUSH NEEDS TO TURN UP THE HEATEberflus put together a masterful defensive game plan that led to pressure all over for Mariota and Blaine Gabbert. His unit generated 5 sacks, 7 hits and 8 tackles for a loss. Sacks came from all over too, with 1.5 credited to Jabaal Sheard, 1 to Darius Leonard (who also forced a fumble), 1 to Denico Autry Christine Michael Sr Jersey , 1 to Kemoko Turay, and a .5 sack to Kenny Moore II. This pressure certainly played a role in allowing Quincy Wilson to snag an errant throw from Mariota and helped Darius Leonard pick off Blaine Gabbert, as he desperately tried to get rid of the ball in a collapsing pocket. This is the way a Tampa 2 defense is supposed to work. For those keeping track, while Tyquan Lewis was not credited with a sack, he did have a tackle for a loss and was a part of creating pressure on the inside. When the Colts started the season with a philosophy of throwing the defensive line at opponents in waves, there were some questions about what those waves would look like. That picture is starting to clear up.

    Jaron Brown Color Rush Jersey

RENTON Jaron Brown Color Rush Jersey , Wash. (AP) — Pete Carroll has a firm belief that the protection the Seattle Seahawks offensive line is providing Russell Wilson has improved from where it was in recent years. The statistics tell a far different story. No team in the NFL has seen its quarterback sacked more often through the first two weeks of the season than the Seahawks. It’s been a disastrous mix of mistakes by the offensive line, Wilson holding the ball too long at times, and facing a pair of elite pass rushers that has led to the quarterback being sacked 12 times already.Since the sack became an official statistic in 1982, there have been 26 instances of a team allowing 12 or more sacks in the first two weeks of the regular season. But only three of those — Jacksonville in 2014, Houston in 2017 and Seattle this year— have come in the past 10 seasons. Jacksonville and Houston each allowed 13 sacks in the first two weeks, both on their way to terrible seasons. The Jaguars went 3-13; the Texans 4-12. But neither of them had an established, top-tier quarterback like Wilson calling the shots. All of which puts the Seahawks in the kind of company they’d rather not be a part of so early in the season.“We’ve tried to make him more confident in the protection. Even though the sack numbers are there, our protection is more solid than it’s been,” Carroll said. “It was throughout the preseason and Russell is counting on that rhythm to help him. He’s moving in the pocket a little bit because that’s what he’s had a lot of times. But the other part of it, the miscues and all are new. We’re missing this, missing that, and we can fix all of those things.”The competition Seattle has faced didn’t help the situation. The Seahawks opened the year having to deal with Von Miller and Denver’s front, then followed up in Week 2 facing Khalil Mack in his first home game with Chicago. The final result was Wilson getting sacked six times in each game, which compounded other mistakes that have left the Seahawks sitting at 0-2.While coming home this week to face Dallas removes the challenge of playing in a loud environment, others have emerged. Starting center Justin Britt injured his shoulder late in the loss to Chicago while trying to get on a fumble Wilson lost while being sacked.Carroll said Britt was sore and would be day-to-day, but he did not practice Wednesday. Also sitting out practice was left guard Ethan Pocic, who was considered a candidate to potentially replace Britt at center. Pocic has an ankle injury. If Britt can’t play and Pocic is an unknown, Seattle may plug in backup Joey Hunt at center and shift guard J.R. Sweezy. D.J. Fluker, who started at right guard before suffering a hamstring injury in the preseason, is expected to return this week after missing the first two games.“We have to be better. The numbers aren’t solely on the offensive line but as a lineman you never want to see your quarterback on the ground,” left tackle Duane Brown said. “We have to do everything we can to correct it. We have to win our individual battles, communicate protections better Tre Flowers Color Rush Jersey , picking up blitzes better. We’ll get there quick.”The Cowboys are second in the NFL with nine sacks through two games and last season sacked Wilson three times and limited the Seahawks to 136 total yards. But Dallas still watched Seattle come away with a 21-12 win.“Lot of movement up front, line stunts, things like that. They don’t like to sit still. They like to move around and throw your scheme off,” Brown said.NOTES: Carroll said the team received indications from the league that LB Mychal Kendricks will be able to play this week. Kendricks, who pleaded guilty to federal insider trading charges, made his debut with the Seahawks on Monday and had three tackles, including a sack, against Chicago. … LB Bobby Wagner (groin) and CB Tre Flowers (hamstring) were full participants in practice Wednesday and are expected to play Sunday after missing the loss to Chicago. The competitive balance in NFL 2018 is such that it would be no surprise if any — or all — of the visitors win on wild-card weekend to begin the 2019 calendar. Hey, the largest spread is a mere 6 1-2 points, Bears over Eagles.Maybe the most intriguing matchup is at Jerry World, which makes sense because the NFL scheduled Seahawks vs. Cowboys for Saturday night. Some cool stuff about this game between a pair of 10-6 teams:—Seattle was 0-2 when coach Pete Carroll placed a heavy emphasis on the running game and defense, and the Seahawks defeated Dallas 24-13.—QBs Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott are tied for most 100-plus passer rating games in their first three seasons at 24.—The Seahawks led the league with a plus-15 turnover margin, with 11 giveaways tied for third fewest in league history.—Dallas has won both wild-card games in its 10 seasons at AT&T Stadium, and is 7-1 at home this season.—The other playoff meeting was a 21-20 Seahawks home victoryduring the 2006 season when Tony Romo messed up the hold of a potential go-ahead field goal with 1:19 remaining. This figures to be a game built on rushing. Seattle topped the NFL and has a three-pronged running attack led by Chris Carson. Dallas rides Ezekiel Elliott, who is rested and ready after sitting out last week’s win over the Giants because the result had no bearing on Dallas’ postseason standing.Saturday’s game obviously does, and will be close. Seattle, ranked 10 in the AP Pro32, is a 2 1-2-point underdog at No. 11 Dallas.COWBOYS, 21-20No. 8 Indianapolis (plus 3) at No. 7 HoustonEach team won on the other’s field this season. Both have made turnarounds, Houston from an 0-3 start to the AFC South title, Indy from 1-5 to a wild card. The Colts have won four straight and nine of their last 10 when they couldn’t afford a stumble. The defense forced turnovers in 15 games, finished with 26 takeaways David Moore Color Rush Jersey , and the team allowed 16.4 points over the final eight games. But it’s an offensive line that allowed a league-low 18 sacks on Andrew Luck after giving up a league-high 56 in 2017 that could be the difference. That number will be tested by the likes of J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney, and DeAndre Hopkins can be a game-changing receiver.Still …BEST BET and UPSET SPECIAL: COLTS, 24-20No. 5 (tie) Los Angeles Chargers (plus 2 1-2) at No. 9 BaltimoreTwo weeks ago, the Ravens traveled to that soccer stadium in California the Chargers call home and handed them a 22-10 defeat that propelled Baltimore to the top of the AFC North. It also pretty much meant the Chargers would be a wild card behind AFC West champion Kansas City. The Ravens’ top-ranked defense will need to again make Philip Rivers uncomfortable in the passing game, but Rivers didn’t have his No. 1 running threat, Melvin Gordon, for that Dec. 22 contest. Gordon is back, which could be a key.Baltimore is 6-1 since rookie QB Lamar Jackson took over for Joe Flacco. And that defense, which allowed an NFL-low 292.2 yards per game and ranked second in fewest points allowed at 17.9 per contest, will swing this one to …RAVENS, 20-19No. 12 Philadelphia (plus 6 1-2) at No. 3 ChicagoSomehow, despite all the injuries — the secondary, other than safety Malcolm Jenkins, has resembled a preseason group — and some costly blown leads, the defending champion Eagles squeezed into the playoffs. They did so with help from the Bears, too, as Chicago knocked off the Vikings in Minnesota last Sunday. Will the Bears regret that come Sunday evening? Depends on whether Nick Foles has some more magic to work on that stingy and physical Chicago defense. It will be tight, like all the other wild-card games.BEARS, 19-17

  6. How can we be explosive? That’s what the game is about Green Bay Packers Customized Jerseys , man. People like big plays. I like big plays."So how do we figure out how to get big plays? In football trick plays are fun. I mean, what isn’t fun about explosive plays and throwing it down the field and guys making plays?” - Todd MonkenThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just a mess of a franchise, saddled with a franchise quarterback who just isn’t very good and a defense that is about as bad as a defense can be. Yet, in 2018, the Bucs were one of the most entertaining teams to watch, largely because of offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Monken, a native of Wheaton, Illinois, was a quarterback for Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where he earned an economics degree. Monken left a wake of successful offenses behind in college, leading a high scoring Eastern Michigan team and Green Bay Packers T-Shirts , in his last stop, turning around an atrocious Southern Mississippi squad in just a few years. I first noticed him running the Bucs offense this season, his third in Tampa. Monken runs a big-play, deep passing offense that targets the middle and deep sections of the field, stretches defenses, and makes them defend every inch of territory. Monken trusted his passing game to work despite lackluster quarterbacks in retread Ryan Fitzpatrick and bust Jameis Winston. Fitzpatrick in particular thrived in Monken’ offense, hitting big play after big play to lead one of the league’s best passing offenses and finishing 5th in DVOA.Monken was also involved in one of the strangest incidents of the season, when head coach Dirk Koetter took over play-calling duties for the November 11th game against Washington. Koetter, who was fired after the season, never explained why he did this:“After the game, Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter revealed he took over play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Todd Monken, but he wasn’t forthcoming on why he made the change. 'My own reasons ,' Koetter responded when asked what spurred the change.”Monken’s offenses had scored 48, 27, 27, 10 (Bears), 29, 26, 34, and 28 points. Under Koetter they scored three. The next week, they were back to Monken and back to 35 points against the Giants. The Packers interviewed Monken on January 5th, and it’s easy to see why he would be attractive. He runs a quarterback-friendly offense that focuses on big plays in the intermediate and deep portions of the field. If you are looking for a coach to gel with a surly quarterback who waves off called plays to throw bombs, you could do worse. I’m a tentative fan, and while he’s still a bit green to jump to head coach in the NFL Green Bay Packers Hoodie , going with someone a bit green may not be the worst idea. Monken’s offense is fun and progressive and he was, as far as anyone could tell, the only adult on the Tampa staff. I’m not sure if the Packers will land him, but wherever he goes, I’ll be watching next season. The Senior Bowl is the most prestigious all-star game in college football. Each year, 100-plus players whose college eligibility have expired travel to Mobile, Alabama for a week of practice, interviews, and finally a football game.Three days of practice from Tuesday to Thursday are behind us, as are all of the players’ interviews with scouts, coaches, and other NFL decision-makers. Now it’s just the game Elgton Jenkins Jersey , which is all that most NFL fans get to see. Today’s game pits the North and South teams against one another, with NFL coaching staffs leading the way for both sides.Plenty of star NFL players have made a mark on this game in the past. Recently, Northern Iowa running back David Johnson starred in the 2015 game, leading to his selection by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of that year’s NFL Draft. Less than two years later, he led the entire NFL in scrimmage yards and total touchdowns, dominating the competition in the 2016 season. Will there be a small-school star who makes a statement in today’s game and solidifies himself as a top prospect? In March Jabaal Sheard Jersey , Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell will become available to the highest bidder. And he apparently hopes the highest bidder, or close to it, will be the Indianapolis Colts.“He has his eyes on the Colts, no doubt about that,” an unnamed source told Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. “He sees [quarterback Andrew] Luck and that offense and all that cap room and they’re much closer than the Jets. He wants to go someplace he can win right away.”Bell hasn’t ruled out signing with the Jets, a team that could be willing to pay much more than the Colts. G.M. Chris Ballard won’t be inclined to overpay in the early days of free agency, and that’s likely what it will take to get Bell. Also, the Colts have Marlon Mack, a much cheaper option who had a career day against the Cowboys. Mack is signed through 2020, at salaries of $645,000 and $735,000 over the next two years.Of course, Ballard may have only so much influence over the final decision. If owner Jim Irsay decides to make the move, Ballard may have no choice but to make it Pierre Desir Color Rush Jersey , or at least to make a competitive offer. If the Colts do indeed make it — and if Bell takes a little less to play for a better team — the Colts will become a short-list favorite to contend for a Super Bowl berth next season. As reported by Vaughn McClure on Monday, the Buffalo Bills have begun the interview process to find their next special-teams coordinator. Per McClure, the Bills interviewed Keith Armstrong. If hired by Sean McDermott, Armstrong would replace Danny Crossman. The special-teams coordinator dating back to the Doug Marrone days , Crossman was fired on January 3rd. Keith Armstrong was most recently with the Atlanta Falcons. Let go on December 31st, Armstrong had been with the Falcons since 2008 when Mike Smith became the head coach. Armstrong comes with a wealth of experience as a special-teams coordinator. With his first NFL coordinator gig coming with the Chicago Bears in 1997, Armstrong’s coordinator experience is old enough to legally drink. His total NFL experience dates back three more years on the defensive side of the ball. Adding college experience Armstrong has been coaching since 1997. SB Nation’s own Falcons blog, “The Falcoholic” provided a good retrospective of Armstrong’s time in Atlanta when news of his firing broke. From the article Devin Singletary Jersey , Armstrong’s time was summed up as “consistent but unimpressive.” With no hire being announced, it’s still open-season on speculation. 9. got grounded.A week after he led Cleveland to a thrilling overtime win , the Browns rookie quarterback was bottled up and bashed on Sunday by the Los Angeles Chargers, who rolled to a convincing 38-14 win in a game they controlled from the start.Mayfield was sacked five times, threw two interceptions, rolled his ankle and showed inexperience as a pro in his third NFL start. There were no sensational plays — rookie wide receivers Antonio Callaway and Damion Ratley missed scoring chances — and more bad than good from the No. 1 overall pick, who accepted much of the responsibility for his team’s shaky performance.“We did not execute. We did not do our job. We were not detailed. We did not do the things that we talked about all week,” Mayfield said. “That is the most disappointing thing. Anytime you do not do your job — I am at fault for majority of that. I am going to be very hard on myself.“We have to be able to look at this and learn from it. We have to be more prepared coming into the next week. It does not matter what happened. It does not matter the buzz. You have to do your job each week or else.”The Browns (2-3-1) were soundly beaten in all three phases by the Chargers (4-2), who led 35-6 in the third quarter. Cleveland’s win last week over Baltimore triggered a surge of national attention directed at the Browns and their early season turnaround after they lost all 16 games last season.Even star rapper Snoop Dogg dropped in on one of their passes during the week. The Chargers knocked the Browns back to reality. They’re still a work in progress.Cleveland’s defense was gashed for 246 yards rushing as the Chargers reeled off seven plays of 20 yards or longer.“Disappointed,” said coach Hue Jackson. “I take responsibility for it. Myself and the coaching staff, I have to. Have to play better.”Mayfield completed 22 of 46 passes for 238 yards and two interceptions Kevin Zeitler Jersey , the first coming on the first play of the second half. But aside from his statistics, there were times when he either held onto the ball too long or made poor decisions.Unlike previous weeks when he bought himself time by moving in the pocket, Mayfield wasn’t as mobile after he slipped on a sideline marker after scrambling in the first half.“Obviously, that was not very good on my part,” he said. “Have to get the ball out. I have to make it easier on our guys, case and point. We have to take care of the ball — we, as in, I do. I have to put us in position to win. Coming out in the second half, we were not out of the game. Defense gets a good stop and then first play Joel Bitonio Color Rush Jersey , I throw a pick. Can’t do it. Can’t happen. I will be the first to correct my stuff.”He also didn’t get help from Callaway and Ratley as both missed chances to make TD catches in the first half.Callaway appeared to short-arm a throw into the end zone, while Ratley let Mayfield’s pass slip through his hands on a perfectly executed flea flicker.“I should have caught it,” Ratley said. “I think I should have caught everything.”Callaway said: “If I’d have left my feet earlier and dove, I probably would have caught it. The ball came on me late.”Mayfield supported his young teammates, but made it clear they should have made the plays.“Those are young guys,” he said. “We each have to play the next play. During the game, that is what you tell them. When we talk about it now, we have to have those. Those are the types of plays that we have to have. When you get your opportunity, you have to take advantage of it.”“We could very well have had a couple of things go our way in the first half , we execute and we would have been it in. We just have to do our job.”Jackson wanted to reserve judging Mayfield’s outing. But his first look was enough to tell him his QB needs to be better.“I just need to see the tape, see if we had guys open and see what the rush looked like and felt like to him,” he said. “It was not one of his better days. At the same time, I thought that there were some other things that he did well. We have to take the good and grow from that, and we have to take the bad and get it fixed.” Cleveland Browns:Christian Wilkins to Browns in PFF mock draft (PFF) - Steve Palazzolo gives the Browns some help along the defensive interior in his latest mock draft.Andre Dillard to Browns in mock draft ( -’s Daniel Jeremiah gives the Browns a new offensive tackle in his first mock draft of the year. He wants to let you know Jarvis Landry Jersey , again.Heating system gives Chiefs a handle on the field (Kansas City Star) - The national spotlight and attention of the sports world will definitely fall Sunday upon Arrowhead Stadium, site of the AFC Championship Game. Then again, plenty of attention has been directed toward the stadium — specifically, its field — for more than a week.Rams may have best run-blocking line ever (PFT) - For much of this season, Rams running back Todd Gurley was touted as an MVP candidate, as he racked up 100-yard games and scored more than one rushing touchdown per game. But then a funny thing happened at the end of the season: Gurley missed two games. And the Rams didn’t miss him at all.Lamar Jackson had league’s worst fumbling problem (Baltimore Sun) - As the franchise prepares for life after Joe Flacco this offseason, it will hand over the keys on offense to a quarterback whose rookie year raised concerns about his sure-handedness. Team officials face an unenviable prospect: that Lamar Jackson might prove even more fumble-prone than his predecessor.

    Justin McCray Color Rush Jersey

As Matt LaFleur fills out his coaching staff Justin McCray Color Rush Jersey , he’s added a few former NFL players to the Packers’ coaching lineup. New outside linebackers coach Mike Smith played under Mike Pettine in Baltimore. New wide receivers coach Alvis Whitted played for both the Jaguars and Raiders (and made a catch against the Packers in 2003). LaFleur even interviewed Wes Welker for a job, though his potential role in Green Bay wasn’t clear. That got us thinking about former Packers players who may be in need of a job. Whether it’s with the Packers or elsewhere, here are our suggestions for former players we’d like to see get a shot.Evan “Tex” Western -- Al Harris and William HendersonI’m probably cheating a bit by picking a couple of players, and I’m definitely cheating with my first pick. That’s because former Packers cornerback Al Harris is already a position coach in the NFL -- he has been coaching the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive backs for the last six years, first as an assistant and then as the primary cornerbacks coach for the last three seasons. Harris was a technician as a Packer, and he provided one of the best individual plays in the team’s postseason history with his pick-six off Matt Hasselbeck in 2003. I’d love to see him back wearing Green and Gold on the sideline, especially since he’s got legitimate coaching experience. As for someone without any notable experience as a coach, I’m going with Henderson, who probably didn’t earn enough accolades for his excellent career as a fullback. Sure, his position is out of favor in today’s NFL, but the skills he brought to that position -- receiving, tough short-yardage running, and most importantly exceptional pass-blocking -- are still critical for modern-day tailbacks. Bringing Henderson in to work with Aaron Jones on protecting Aaron Rodgers, for example, sounds like a great idea, and his toughness would allow him to connect with a bruiser like Jamaal Williams.Jon Meerdink - James JonesIt was interesting to watch James Jones develop over the course of his career. Never an overwhelming athlete, Jones got by with positioning and understanding despite struggling with a very basic thing: catching the ball. In four of his first five seasons in the NFL, Jones caught less than 60% of the passes thrown his way. The problems even extended to the Super Bowl, where Jones dropped a tough but catchable ball that may have taken points off the board.Eventually, he turned it around. In all but his final NFL season, Jones was far more reliable and developed into a steady older presence, so much so that he was the Packers’ first call when Jordy Nelson went down with a knee injury in 2015. What changed? Focus and a lot of positive self-talk. ”During the game, I’m out there talking to myself saying things like, ‘Stay focused. Stay hungry. The ball’s gonna come. Aaron’s gonna throw it to the open guy,’ “ Jones said in 2012. “A lot of the players think I’m crazy.”Crazy or not, it worked, and it may be the kind of advice (along with whatever else Jones in to shed his problems with drops) that could be of use to other players. If nothing else, it’d be cool to have his hoodie back on an NFL sideline.Bob Fitch - Nick CollinsGreen Bay’s secondary has been in shambles ever since Collins injured his neck in 2011. Every time Collins got the ball in his hands - which was quite often , with 21 career interceptions - he was looking to score. Quite often, he did! Do yourself a favor and watch his 9 minute tribute video and try not to cry at what could have been. Collins started every game in his career and was a special talent that was taken away from football too soon. The fit is perfect, too - in this 2014 article, he was quoted as saying he wants “to go into coaching. Just not right now.”. Well, Nick, I think the opportunity has arisen. He’s already doing some high school and youth coaching in Florida and as a Packer Hall of Famer is already beloved by Green Bay. Paul Noonan: Doug PedersonBrandon Jackson was on staff as a coaching intern, but I’m not sure if that is still the case. If he is, that’s great as he’s the best blocking back in team history and he has a lot to teach. That said, the obvious answer is former backup QB, Doug Pederson. The current leader of the defending champs is one of the most progressive, aggressive play-callers out there, and he’s been successful with widely varied levels of personnel, different quarterbacks, and a host of other challenges. I’m glad he’s had such success, I just wish it was with the Packers organization. Wendi Hansen: Reggie WhiteFifteen seasons, 13 consecutive Pro Bowls, 10 All-Pro nominations, 198 career sacks, and 232 games. The numbers speak for themselves, but despite his impeccable talent and skill on the field, Reggie White was one of the finest human beings to ever grace the green and gold uniform. I may be a little biased as he’s one of my favorite athletes of all time, but that aside, White would’ve made one hell of a coach. His love of the game - and the Packers organization - spoke volumes. He was smart, precise, dedicated and knew how to inspire his fellow teammates. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Green Bay Packers are turning to fast-rising offensive whiz Matt LaFleur to aid Aaron Rodgers and end a two-year absence from the postseason.More Packers coveragePhotos of the Week: 7/21/19 – 7/27/19Packers rookie Gary’s biggest critic is himselfTop Tweets: Former Badger TJ Watt has impressive four-year transformationPHOTOS: 2019 Green Bay Packers training campPackers’ Rodgers, LaFleur ironing out offense, building chemistryLaFleur accepted an offer Monday to become the next head coach of the Packers Jermaine Whitehead Jersey , according to a person familiar with the decision. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither the Packers nor the Titans had announced the decision. The 39-year-old LaFleur spent this season as offensive coordinator for the Titans, his first calling plays in the NFL. He takes over for Mike McCarthy, who was fired during the season following a stunning home loss to Arizona on Dec. 2. Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin went 2-2 to close out the season as the Packers failed to reach the playoffs for the second straight year with a 6-9-1 record that was the second straight under .500 for the storied franchise. He was offensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, leading a group that paced the NFL in scoring and was 10th in total offense under coach Sean McVay, who called the plays on offense. LaFleur was the quarterbacks coach in Atlanta for two seasons, including when Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was the NFL MVP in 2016. LaFleur also has coached with Washington and Houston, and was the quarterbacks coach for Notre Dame in 2014.He will be charged with returning the Packers to the playoffs on a regular basis. McCarthy’s tenure of 12-plus seasons was by and large successful, highlighted by the 2010 Super Bowl season and nine playoff appearances.Still, the once potent offense that could make up for other deficiencies slowed in 2018, a tumultuous year that began with Rodgers leading a stirring comeback victory in the opener over the Bears. The two-time NFL MVP returned after halftime from a left knee injury that nagged him the rest of the season.Rodgers’ 62.3 percent completion rate was his lowest since 2015 (60.7) and his 25 touchdown passes were a low for a season in which he played at least 15 games, though so were his two interceptions. Injuries to Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison forced the Packers to turn to rookies perhaps earlier than expected, though Davante Adams emerged as an elite receiver. The relationship between LaFleur and Rodgers will be closely watched after the sometimes tenuous moments between the star QB and McCarthy. They characterized their relationship as close, but with ups and downs that come with two headstrong competitors who had worked together for more than a dozen years. The Packers reportedly interviewed several candidates with head-coaching experience, including Philbin, Chuck Pagano, Adam Gase and Jim Caldwell. The instead opted for LaFleur, who had never called plays before this season and until now has never been in charge of an entire roster. It is just one element of an offseason of change ahead in Green Bay.Clay Matthews, one of the last remaining links to Green Bay’s Super Bowl-winning season, is a free agent after finishing with a career-low 3½ sacks in his 10th season with the Packers but the first under the tweaked 3-4 scheme installed by first-year coordinator Mike Pettine.Cobb is also a prominent free agent for Green Bay, and a steady, experienced target for Rodgers — if he returns. The running game could be a strength next season behind Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones, who led the NFL in yards per carry before suffering a knee injury in mid-December. The coordinator’s job could be in flux, too. Philbin is well-liked by Rodgers and the 16-year NFL coaching veteran and he won respect from players for his even-keeled and straightforward demeanor in the transition following McCarthy’s firing.Pettine’s defense showed flashes in his first year on the job. First-round draft pick Jaire Alexander displayed the potential of playing like the top cornerback the Packers desperately need. Injuries struck the defensive line, which was one of the team’s strengths coming into the season, and the Packers lacked a consistent rush at outside linebacker outside of surprise sacks leader Kyler Fackrell (10½).Tennessee has changes coming, too. The Titans went 9-7 and missed the playoffs, ending the season ranked 27th in scoring and 25th in total offense while injuries took a toll. Quarterback Marcus Mariota will soon be working with his fourth offensive coordinator in five seasons.

Nearly everyone is scurrying to find some historical statistic, or a specific matchup that could indicate that one team or the other has the advantage. Fans frequently attempt to look at the most recent group of games to find trends giving some suggestion for appropriate expectations, but we’ve seen teams buck momentum in the playoffs. With this in mind, we’re going to look at one set of numbers that appears to have a meaningful effect on the outcome of games, one that absolutely looks to give the Colts a bit of an advantage.Sure. We could look at the fact that the Chiefs have given up over 2,100 rushing yards this season, or the fact that they’ve averaged 9 points fewer per game in their last five outings, but let’s be honest, 32 points per game is still a lot of points. We could also look at the fact that they’re 3-2 in their last five games, with their largest margin of victory being 7 points in their second meeting against a broken Raiders team, or that they had to go to overtime in order to get rid of the Baltimore Ravens. While it is worth mentioning those observations, red zone efficiency is where games are won and lost, especially in the playoffs. Forcing a team into multiple field goal attempts, turning over teams in the red zone, and finding a way make a late-game goal line stand are ways to change momentum in an important game.It just so happens that the Colts have the advantage in this area.Offensively, both teams are very good inside their opponent’s 20-yard line. The Chiefs a little better than the Colts, in fact Darius Leonard Color Rush Jersey , as they were second in the league with a red zone touchdown percentage of 71.8% (51 of 71 attempts). This high-level efficiency will be a real challenge for the Colts’ defense, regardless of how impressive they’ve been playing this season. However, the Colts’ defense hasn’t just been good this season, they’ve been especially good in the red zone as well. The Colts have only allowed 23 touchdowns on their opponent’s 43 trips inside the 20-yard line (53.5%) which was good for 11th in the league. The Colts defense will have to force a turnover at some point Saturday in order to improve their chances of winning, and doing it inside the 20 could bring about a massive swing in this matchup. The Colts, on the other hand, were 5th in the league on offense in the red zone with a touchdown rate of 68.8% (44 of 64 attempts). Just as a side note on this topic, tight end Eric Ebron had 10 regular season catches inside the red zone, and all of them were touchdowns. That’s nearly a quarter of the Colts RZ scores right there, so be looking for that Luck-to-Ebron hookup as a potential focus for Frank Reich and his play-calling.And this is where it gets very one-sided. The Chiefs are nearly pathetic in the red zone defensively. They’ve allowed 42 touchdowns on their opponent’s 58 trips inside the 20-yard line, for a whopping touchdown rate of 72.4%. That’s ‘good’ for 31st in the league, and that’s not going to be a good thing when they bang heads against the Colts’ 5th ranked red zone offense.Just like any other statistic, or trend, either one of the these teams could flip their regular season numbers upside down. The Colts could struggle in the red zone offensively, and the Chiefs’ defense could look phenomenal for one game. Or the Colts’ defense could put a stop to the Chiefs offensive efficiency inside the 20 as well — you never can really know what to expect in the post season. The Colts haven’t really given up too many big-yardage plays throughout the season and that will be key in stopping the league’s top offense as well.If the Chiefs do march down the field with some consistency, forcing field goals — as they’ve done all year long — would be imperative to Indy’s hope for success. Also noteworthy is that the Chiefs are dead last in the NFL in allowing plays of 20 yards or more (65), but were also tied for the league lead in sacks as well (52) so there will be a fine line in how the Colts can attack deep in between the twenties, but also go after their defensive weaknesses in the red zone. This will be a massive test for the Colts, but if anyone is counting them out, well, they’re just ignoring the major potholes in the Chiefs’ game and choosing to solely rely on their offense to get them through to the AFC Championship. This is setting up to be one of the most exciting games of Divisional weekend.

    D.J. Fluker Color Rush Jersey

LAKE FOREST D.J. Fluker Color Rush Jersey , Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears came into the season believing they were ready to start returning the favor after taking their lumps in recent years. The gut punch they absorbed in last week’s primetime opener? That’s one they didn’t envision. The Bears will be back under the lights again, looking to pick themselves up against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night in a matchup between teams that blew fourth-quarter leads last week. With four straight last-place finishes in the NFC North but a surge in optimism following a busy offseason, the Bears seemed poised to knock off Green Bay at Lambeau Field, only to lose 24-23 to their rivals. Newcomer Khalil Mack led a dominant defense as the Bears built a 20-0 lead. But a hobbled Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes in the second half to spoil Matt Nagy’s debut as Chicago’s coach.“That kind of makes it tougher, too, because you know how much you put into it and how close you came,” guard Kyle Long said. “It was in reach, well within reach. But at the end of the day, you’ve got to move on.”The same goes for Seattle, a 27-24 loser at Denver last week. The Seahawks grabbed a four-point lead early in the fourth quarter, gave up a touchdown on the Broncos’ next drive and gained 3 yards in their final three possessions.“It was really an enormous missed opportunity for us to do something special and get that win,” coach Pete Carroll said. Here are some things to know as the Bears and Seahawks eye their first wins:NEW ADDITIONMack makes his first appearance at Soldier Field as a member of the Bears. And if he performs the way he did last week, Chicago will certainly take it.The two-time All-Pro came through with a strip-sack that led to a turnover and a 27-yard interception return for a touchdown against backup quarterback DeShone Kizer. He also had pressure in the backfield on the play when Rodgers injured his left knee. This will be the second game for Mack at Soldier Field. With the Raiders in October 2015, he sacked Jay Cutler on the final drive. But Robbie Gould kicked a 49-yard field goal in the closing seconds to give the Bears a 22-20 victory over the Raiders and their first win under former coach John Fox.SAFETY VALVEDoug Baldwin has been the player Wilson has looked to for help in key situations throughout their careers together. Baldwin is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks after suffering an MCL injury in his right knee in the opener. Wilson must find another go-to option in the passing game.It could be veteran Brandon Marshall, who caught three passes including a touchdown in the opener . It could be Tyler Lockett, who also had a touchdown catch against the Broncos. Or it could be rookie tight end Will Dissly, who had three catches for 105 yards and a touchdown in the opener.“It’s hard to tackle a guy that weighs 270 pounds running down the field. Big catches too, good tough catches,” Carroll said of Dissly. “He showed us that he’s got really good hands.”BEHIND CENTERBears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky had a shaky opener. The No. 2 overall draft pick last year, he missed a throw on a fade pattern to a wide-open Allen Robinson in the end zone and was too quick to scramble rather than stay in the pocket at times. He also couldn’t move the Bears past midfield, let alone into field goal range, in the closing minutes after Green Bay scored the go-ahead touchdown.Trubisky finished 23 of 35 for 171 yards and a 77.2 passer rating.SACK ATTACKSeattle gave up six sacks in the opener, but at least half of those could be blamed on Wilson not trusting his protection and running into trouble. It made for a challenging game to assess the performance of an offensive line that has regularly been an issue the past few seasons.Carroll said he was mostly pleased with the protections, but knows the challenge doesn’t get any easier going from Denver’s pass rush led by Von Miller to Chicago’s rush now led by Mack.SECOND IMPRESSIONNagy acknowledged he needs to improve on his first game as a head coach. He second-guessed his own play calls, most notably two ill-advised screen passes, and acknowledged he is still growing into the role. Nagy replaced the fired Fox after spending a decade working under Andy Reid in Philadelphia and Kansas City.“I wasn’t in my exact rhythm that I could have been in,” he said. “There’s different reasons for that. For me, I just feel like that’s my job. I’ve got to do that. I’ve got to be better.” There has been a lot of talk, from national media pundits Barkevious Mingo Color Rush Jersey , on social media and even among fans of the Seattle Seahawks regarding what the team’s corps of receivers will look like in 2019...." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhiteField Gullsa Seattle Seahawks communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpFanpostsFanshotsSectionsSeahawksOddsAboutMastheadCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections VideosCoffee and CigarettesGame AnalysisThe Numbers GameCigar ThoughtsFiled under:The OffseasonWhat should Seahawks fans expect from the young receiving corps?New,36commentsPDTShareTweetShareShareWhat should Seahawks fans expect from the young receiving corps?Bob Donnan-USA TODAY SportsThere has been a lot of talk, from national media pundits, on social media and even among fans of the Seattle Seahawks regarding what the team’s corps of receivers will look like in 2019. Obviously, the loss of Doug Baldwin is a significant factor in these matters, and on top of that is the fact that behind Tyler Lockett and Jaron Brown there is very little experience in the receivers room. Specifically, it appears that many fans feel they may have seen enough of David Moore, and are ready to move on to see which of the three receivers the Hawks drafted in April can come in a make a splash. However, before handing the starting job to one of the new guys, whether that be DK Metcalf, Gary Jennings or John Ursua, let’s take a look at how good Moore’s development has been in the context of having been a seventh round pick. In the years since the NFL lockout in 2011, and the subsequent adoption of the current CBA which reduced the amount of time players could spend with coaches, receiver development has been an area of concern. This is nothing new, as for decades many coaches, such as Mike Holmgren, have lamented that it can take two or three seasons for a receiver to learn the nuances of the position in the NFL. Moore isno exception to that, which is part of what makes his 2018 season so spectacular. Since the adoption of the current practice time restraints in that 2011 CBA, there have been 46 receivers who have been drafted in the seventh round. Obviously, the four wideouts taken in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft have yet to have a chance to make an impact on the field, so we’ll only look at the 42 who were selected from 2011 to 2018. Of those 42 receivers, six were chosen in 2018, so we only have a single season of data on them, but that gives us 78 player seasons of data for the first two years of a player’s career for seventh round receivers drafted under the current CBA. Here’s where Moore’s 2018 performance ranks among those 78 seasons in a variety of different categories: Receiving yards, single season: 455 in 2018, third best of 78 in sampleReceptions, single season: 26 in 2018, third best of 78 in sampleTouchdown receptions, single season: 5 in 2018 Ed Dickson Color Rush Jersey , best of 78 in sample (second best performance in this category is two). The obvious rebuttal from fans is that while Moore’s second season ranked highly in the sample for the categories mentioned, he did absolutely nothing as a receiver in his first season. Thus, the question becomes where does he rank when his two seasons are combined? The results are somewhat amazing given that, as noted, he had absolutely no production in his first year, but here they are: Receiving yards, first and second season combined: 455, third best of 36 in sampleReceptions, first and second season combined: 26, fourth best of 36 in sampleTouchdown receptions, first and second season combined: 5, best of 36 in sampleIn short, Moore’s first two seasons have far outperformed the expectations for seventh round receivers, but what happens if we expand the sample to include other rounds? How do Day 3 receivers in general perform? Expanding the sample to look at all Day 3 receivers, we find that between 2011 and 2018 there were 157 receivers drafted by NFL teams, with 24 of those drafted in 2018. That means we have 290 player seasons of data from their first and second years, and we have 133 players that have seen two years pass since being drafted whose performance we can compare to that of Moore. Where does Moore’s 2018 season rank compared to any single season of the other 156 receivers? Receiving yards, single season: 455 in 2018, 26th best of 290 in sampleReceptions, single season: 26 in 2018, tied for 33rd best of 290 in sampleTouchdown receptions, single season: 5 in 2018, tied for 10th best of 290 in sampleWhat happens when we combine the seasons and remove the 2018 draft class for which there is only a single season of data? Receiving yards, first and second season combined: 455, 22nd out of 133 in sampleReceptions, first and second season combined: 26, 30th out of 133 in sampleTouchdown receptions, first and second season combined: 5, tied for 12th of 133 in sampleBasically Jaron Brown Color Rush Jersey , Moore has not only been exceptional for a seventh round draft choice, he’s outperformed expectations for any receiver chosen on Day 3 of the draft through his first two seasons. That’s no promise that his development will continue at the same rate of improvement, but it shows how difficult it is for receivers to develop into contributing members of the team no matter where they’re drafted on Day 3. So, the issue then becomes what the team can expect of Ursua and Jennings as rookie receivers selected on the final day of the draft. Obviously, expectations should be low, but with the amount of turnover at the receiver position for the Hawks, there should be an opportunity for them to perform, especially on the outside. There’s been plenty of discussion among fans about which receiver will take over in the slot for Baldwin, and to me the most logical conclusion is Lockett. The thing about the offense the Seahawks run is that the outside receivers have fairly simple duties, as a very large percentage of the routes they to run are either go routes or curl routes. Those routes are far easier to run than other, more complicated routes, and makes the outside receiver position a fantastic place for a developing rookie to learn. Metcalf, Jennings and Ursua should be able to step in as rookies and contribute on the outside, with Lockett moving inside to the slot and dominating. The reason to expect success from Lockettinside is that over the final five weeks of the 2018 season he lined up in the slot about equally as often as he lined up on the outside, however, his production from the slot disproportionately outpaced his production when he lined up outside. Small sample caveats and all that, but during that five game stretch Russell Wilson posted a passer rating of just 112.5 when targeting Lockett from the outside, but a perfect 158.3 when Lockett was targeted from the slot. Yes, it’s a small sample, but in the offense the Hawks run, slot receivers have a significant advantage over outside receivers, particularly when the defense aligns in order to take away the deep outside routes. In summary, expect Lockett to slide inside to the slot and have a fantastic 2019 season, while Metcalf and Jennings fight with Moore for the jobs on the outside. There, their size and speed will allow them to fulfill the basics of those roles while learning the intricacies of playing receiver in the NFL and giving them time to develop into the weapons their athleticism gives them to potential to become.

The Browns may like McDaniels and the feeling might be mutual:If the Browns are interested in McDaniels, then Dorsey may have to start acting in earnest:McDaniels has been continually linked as a possible Browns target over the years, in part because of having grown up in the area and because he is part of the Bill Belichick coaching tree. Of course Myles Garrett Color Rush Jersey , that tree includes former Browns coaches Romeo Crennel, who went 28-55 in six years as a head coach, including a 24-40 mark in four years with the Browns; and Eric Mangini, who was 33-47 in five years as a head coach, including a 10-22 record in two years with the Browns.Overall, it would be hard to say that the Belichick coaching tree is one that should be of interest to Dorsey:That Tweet did come at the start of the 2018 season, so since then O’Brien has clawed his way above .500, but Patricia did not exactly cover himself in glory by going 6-10 in his first season with the Detroit Lions. It is also interesting to note that Dorsey’s agent (yes , even general managers have agents) is Bob LaMonte, who was McDaniels’ agent right up until McDaniels walked out of an agreement last year to become the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Dorsey has certainly spent time talking to LaMonte about the situation and you have to wonder if Dorsey would be willing to down that road with McDaniels. As of now, the Browns and McDaniels have not set up an interview, so time will tell if there is any actual interest from the Browns in taking another shot at a Belichick assistant coach.

Hockenson Aaron Rodgers Jersey , Chris LindstromPhoto by Michael Hickey/Getty ImagesSB Nation’s penultimate draft of 2019 has arrived. In just a few days, the Green Bay Packers and other teams will make their choices official and end the months-long speculation about prospects. Draft guru Dan Kadar can also go on his long-awaited vacation to Tahiti, a deserved break from the grind of college tape and player evaluation. In Kadar’s second-to-last 2019 mock draft, he sees the Packers going in familiar and understandable directions with their first-round picks. While tight ends rarely justify such an early selection, Iowa’s T.J. Hockenson possess rare two-way ability for a prospect at the position and the high-end athletic profile to justify consideration. Furthermore, the value of a “Y” tight end in Matt LaFleur’s offense will make Hockenson a difficult option to refuse should he remain on the board for the Packers.Several offensive-line prospects fit the Packers, but none more so than Boston College’s Chris Lindstrom. Acme Packing Company also selected Lindstrom here in the SB Nation NFL writer mock draft, arguing Lindstrom’s athletic profile, impressive college track record Randall Cobb Color Rush Jersey , and schematic fit made him a strong choice for Green Bay: A loss in the high-scoring affair would have given Green Bay a higher draft selection, but would the team have picked any differently?" />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhiteAcme Packing Companya Green Bay Packers communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpFanpostsFanshotsSectionsPackersOddsAboutMastheadCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football Advicehave picked any differently?CDTShareTweetShareShareWhat impact would losing in Week 16 have had on the Packers’ 2019 draft?Photo by Steven Ryan/Getty ImagesThe conclusion of the 2018 season was far from what anyone expected for the Green Bay Packers prior to the beginning of the season. With just three wins in the final 10 games, the Packers’ postseason hopes were dashed well before the final few weeks of the season. As a result, Green Bay found itself in one of its highest spots in the draft pecking order of the past decade.Almost unfortunately, the Packers rather improbably won an additional game in the final stretch of the season that dropped them several slots down in the first round. Green Bay still landed a legitimate prospect with a high ceiling at pick 12 with the choice of Michigan’s Rashan Gary. But would things have played out differently with a top-10 pick? Some alternative draft options, as well as how the Packers’ draft haul stacked up against that of another divisional rival, are analyzed in today’s musings. Is Montravius Adams’ roster spot in peril? It was one thing for Green Bay to bring defensive lineman Fadol Brown back for the 2019 training camp, but it was another for the Packers to draft Kingsley Keke. Although he was a fifth-round selection, Keke will be a versatile player along the Packers’ defensive line next season and is already someone team personnel is drooling over. While many talked about Keke , who will wear a number 96 jersey to theoretically put an end to Muhammad Wilkerson’s short-lived stay in Green Bay, it could also put pressure on Montravius Adams.A 2017 third-rounder, Adams spent his rookie season on injured reserve before making minimal contributions in his second season. There was some boom-or-bust potential when the Packers initially drafted Adams and the addition of Keke could put him on the bubble. Last year, the Packers kept five defensive linemen at the final cutdown. Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark, and Dean Lowry figure to be locks to make the roster unless something unforeseen happens. Tyler Lancaster found a niche on the roster in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. The addition of Keke would give the Packers five solid rotational players for 2019 even before Adams and Brown. The Packers cut ties in the past with former third-round pick Khyri Thornton in short order when it became apparent he would not be a strong rotational piece for the team. Adams has work to do to make sure he does not become the next far-too-early casualty.Would a loss to the New York Jets in Week 16 have changed the Packers’ draft plans?Green Bay came out on the winning end of a back-and-forth, 44-38 overtime duel with the Jets in Week 16. But had they not left MetLife Stadium with a win, the Packers would have owned the eighth overall pick with a 5-10-1 record, one pick ahead of the Detroit Lions. At that spot Jaire Alexander Jersey , Green Bay would have had the opportunity to pounce on a defensive player such as Ed Oliver or Devin Bush. With a higher pick in the second round as well, the Packers could have been afforded the opportunity to take a tackle like Dalton Risner or quarterback Drew Lock, whom the organization was rumored to be keenly interested in. General Manager Brian Gutekunst said the Packers were “locked in” on Rashan Gary since February, but it would have been interesting to have been a fly on the wall in the Packers’ war room had Ed Oliver been available. While everyone in Titletown is certainly hoping for Gary to become the next great edge rusher to wear number 52, it will be fascinating to watch the career trajectories of both Gary and Oliver for years to come. The Packers’ draft is one that Detroit Lions fans might wish they had Looking back at the early draft results, the Packers look to have had perhaps the strongest draft from top to bottom in the NFC North. While time will tell about the success of Green Bay’s eight selections, especially on the first day of the draft, I personally would be jealous as a fan of another divisional squad. One could argue the Lions’ best two value picks were their first two picks of the third day in Austin Bryant and Amani Oruwariye. Detroit passed on an opportunity to take one of the top defensive players on the board in round one to grab T.J. Hockenson, which is not a bad pick in itself. However Lane Taylor Color Rush Jersey , the Lions could have easily swiped another quick-fix, high-potential tight end like Irv Smith with their early second-round pick and still addressed the position without a premium choice. Instead, they reached mightily in the second and third rounds with Jahlani Tavai and Will Harris to fill defensive holes.Watching the NFL Draft with a Lions fan, it was hard to ignore his agony over the team’s first three selections. After all, the team’s rocky experience with another top-ten tight end, Eric Ebron, still looms in the rear-view mirror despite the differences between him and Hockenson. But with the draft as top-heavy in defensive talent and loaded with tight end depth as it was, Green Bay did better to take Gary early and add Jace Sternberger later in the third round.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was the first to report: The one-year deal, reportedly maxing out at $13 million, addresses arguably the biggest position of need for Indianapolis heading into the offseason. Last season, Funchess caught 44 balls for an average of 12.5 yards per reception, amassing 549 yards and four touchdowns. His best season came in 2017, where he caught 63 passes for 840 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 starts. He’s averaged 13.9 yards per reception over his career, with 21 total touchdowns. The Michigan product was a second-round pick for the Carolina Panthers in the 2015 NFL Draft, and finished out his rookie contract there. With the Colts, Funchess will presumably slide into the No. 2 receiving role behind TY Hilton and ahead of a returning Deon Cain — who missed all of his rookie season with a knee injury. Funchess will step into a Colts’ locker room as another big target for Andrew Luck as the tallest receiver on the team. He’s also the same height as tight ends Eric Ebron and Ryan Hewitt. Financially, Funchess becomes the second-highest paid receiver behind Hilton. With a one-year deal , he’ll have the chance to prove his worth for a longer extension next offseason, while the Colts avoid storing long-term money into a non home-grown talent. While there is some obvious excitement from Colts’ fans as the team holds a ton of cap space heading into the 2019 season, GM Chris Ballard has already taken care of re-signing a few important players internally in recent weeks. The Colts signed extensions with Mark Glowinski, Ross Travis, and Margus Hunt thus far and there are a few others who might still be scooped up previous to free agency officially getting underway. Glowinski went from a virtual camp body to a pivotal starter throughout the course of the season, Travis offers a very interesting skill set to the tight end room and looked extremely promising previous to a year-ending knee injury. Hunt was a part of Ballard’s initial free agency process and has grown into his own with the Colts for the first time in his career. One of those Colts who is set to become a free agent as the new league year kicks off is safety Matthias Farley. Now the Colts also have cornerback Pierre Desir and safety Clayton Geathers in the mix for possibly being re-signed. 32-year-old Mike Mitchell doesn’t seem to be quite as likely a candidate to come back, and the team has already stated that they won’t offer Corey Moore a return to Indy either.Additionally, the Colts have some interesting options around the league to bring in to plug in at safety if they aren’t to agree on extensions with their respective teams and there’s an interesting field at the position in the draft as well. Aside from Malik Hooker and George Odum — an UDFA in 2018 — there isn’t much in the cupboard under contract for 2019.Farley adds quite a bit to the safety corps for the Colts and it makes sense to bring him back via an affordable contract which Farley would likely manage regardless of whether he comes back to Indy or is allowed to test the market. Re-signing Farley certainly doesn’t hamper the Colts’ plans for the position regardless of where they would possibly look to add top-end talent to the position. We’ve seen year in, and year out that quality depth is not only good to have, but pertinent to having the ability for absorbing injuries, poor play as well as adapting to various team’s offensive systems.Farley has been good in coverage for the Colts and fits well in a Cover 2 shell moving forward under Matt Eberflus. He only played in 5 games last year for the Colts, but defended 4 passes, added an interception Denico Autry Jersey , and 19 total tackles. He continued to be a powerful hitter, and the versatility to sit atop the coverage or move down into the box under any assignment given to him.In 2017 Farley was very important to the team’s efforts finishing third on the team in total tackles (95), and was second on the team in passes defensed (7) as well as third with 2 interceptions. Farley, for my money, in this 2017 season, proved that he was not only an excellent rotational option for the Colts at safety, but also capable of being a reliable starter when called upon.Farley doesn’t bring the top-level money value to the free agency period this year, as he’s coming off of a short year due to injury. But, he’s familiar and works well within the Colts’ defensive system, they absolutely love his leadership and knowledge he brings to the back end of the Colts’ defense, he’ll only be 27 this year, and the Colts constantly talk about keeping their own in the building.I definitely believe that Farley has done enough in every aspect of what the Colts are looking to do, in order to be brought back to bolster the Colts defensive depth moving forward.
