Itâs been a while since some happy news found its way onto our mobile screens, but with the trailer release of Gulabo Sitabo, weâre sure that 12th June will surely come bearing some excitement. This upcoming Shoojit Sircar dramedy has every Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana fan beaming, because letâs face it, it looks highly promising.

Apart from being BigB and Ayushmannâs first on-screen collaboration, the Gulabo Sitabo trailer is convincingly funny, comes with witty dialogues and gives us a sneak peek of a story thatâs got us all craving for more.

But apart from that, here are 5 simple reasons which convinced us the Gulabo Sitabo might just be the best dramedy we watch in 2020.

1. The Leads Play By Their Strengths

If there are two Bollywood actors who are good at carrying out a good repartee with utmost sincerity, BigB and Ayushmann will be the best picks from the lot. Why? Because in his decade-long career, BigB has time and again proved how stellar he is at making witty comebacks while still playing his part. Think Cheeni Kam, Piku and more recently, 102 Not Out.

Ayushmann, on the other hand, has made his mark when it comes to playing light-hearted roles that also come with the strength of character. Be it as Vicky Arora in Vicky Donor, Mudit Sharma in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan or more recently, Balmukund Shukla in Bala.

Even in Gulabo Sitabo, both BigB and Ayushmann will be seen playing by their strengths when they try to come at each other in hilarious ways in order to gain an upper-hand over the other.

2. Itâs A Walk Through Lucknowâs Rich History

Based in Lucknow, the filmâs setting offers to explore the Nawabo ka shahar through a fresh perspective. One that draws our attention to the once-âgloriousâ, crumbling structures of the past. Laden with its unique history and passed through generations, the haveli(s) will surface as crucial motifs, significant to push the plot forward.

3. Itâs Sentimental, But Highly Relatable Too

When Gulabo says, âMohabbat kartein hain hum apni haveli se, beintehanâ, itâs impossible to not feel for the stubborn old man. Yet, at the same time, the trailer also succeeds in reminding us that this attachment and the desire to keep this relic of generations past standing, may come at a cost.

While Gulabo Sitabo is said to be an âinspired by lifeâ comedy which attempts to present the daily problems of a common man through two different takes on it, its humour will become the bridge between sentimentality and relatability that you and I can draw from our own lives.

4. Thereâs âSeriousâ Comedy Involved

The trailer itself makes us laugh on different occasions, but the subject around which the humour is being played out is serious. The ancient haveli around which the entire story revolves, is a poor, old manâs legacy in the form of ancestral property.

Itâs clear that apart from Gulabo and Sitaboâs personal interest in the dilapidated structure, even the âgovernmentâ seems to be interested in getting its stake in the matter, though only time will tell if the quirky tactics to stand their ground will work out in each of their favour.

5. Itâll Be Difficult To Choose A Favourite

While the makers claim that Gulabo Sitabo is a âquirky tale of two slimy scheming foxes in a game of one-upmanship, each one attracting other members to their clan and each one with an agenda of his ownâ, the trailer also makes it pretty clear that as an audience, who will get a glimpse of both sides of the story, we may not find ourselves in a position to choose sides when it comes down to ascertaining who is right and who is wrong.

Or perhaps the story itself will seek a middle-ground and give way to reconciliation stemming out of those funny jabs and retorts.

Letâs see how the story unfolds. #CantWait
