Inaugurated at the end of the 2006-07 season of domestic and international cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India or the BCCI took the initiative to recognise some extraordinary Indian cricketers for their efforts through the year.
The 2018-19 season is widely considered a successful stint for the Men and Women in Blue with the obvious exception of the disappointing ouster from the ICC World Cup 2019. The two teams saw new talent making it big both in the domestic and international circuits while some of the already great athletes leveled up to achieving the legendary status.
One of the biggest news-makers from the Indian Men's cricket team was lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, the recently turned 26-year-old who managed to add some swing to his already deadly yet unique plethora of bowling variations and stepped up his game.
His years of working on his skills, acquiring the unbelievably high rate of accuracy and the ability to drop all six deliveries of at one spot on the pitch helped him become one of the best bowlers in red-ball cricket and attain that No. 1 spot in ICC ODI rankings. During India's series against the visiting Sri Lankan side, Bumrah also became the highest ticket taker for India in T20Is.
For being a dominating force in all forms of international cricket, the pace ace was honoured with the highly prestigious Polly Umrigar Award on Sunday, January 12, 2020.View this post on Instagram
