In the digital age, social media has become a way of life. But, for what began with a promise of allowing people to express themselves, social media platforms have sadly made its users prone to hateful attacks and public humiliation. And, if that's not enough, the fact that anyone can use your photos and start a fake account under your name is outright scary.

The challenges on social media are plenty for any user, but if you're a celebrity, it gets more tasking - ask Sachin Tendulkar.

The Indian batting great needs no introduction in a country like India which is obsessed over cricket. Even after his retirement, the 'Little Master' continues to enjoy a great fan following on social media. Such has been his popularity that even his children Arjun and Sara often garner public interest and spotlight from the media.

But, his popularity appears to have instigated some miscreants to open fake social media accounts of his children. In a heartfelt appeal, Tendulkar wrote to Twitter India and asked them to deal with the fake accounts of his kids. He brought about a fake account named @jr_tendulkar - which claims to be the official account of Sachin's son - to Twitter India's attention and highlighted that the account has been wrongly posting malicious tweets.

I wish to clarify that my son Arjun & daughter Sara are not on Twitter.
The account @jr_tendulkar is wrongfully impersonating Arjun and posting malicious tweets against personalities & institutions. Requesting @TwitterIndia to act on this as soon as possible.

“I wish to clarify that my son Arjun & daughter Sara are not on Twitter. The account @jr_tendulkar is wrongfully impersonating Arjun and posting malicious tweets against personalities & institutions. Requesting @TwitterIndia to act on this as soon as possible,” tweeted the Master Blaster.

The fake Twitter account carried a bio which read: "Official. Left Arm Medium Pacer. Son of God". The account, which has now been suspended by Twitter India, was active since June 2018. It carried numerous controversy-prone tweets including the ones that supported Devendra Fadnavis in the political spectrum and the selection of Sanju Samson in the Indian cricket team.

The account had a number of posts over the past year or so as well as various pictures and videos of Arjun. While celebrities often take a neutral stance on sensitive subjects, with Arjun's fake account taking sides on multiple subjects, Sachin's worry over the subject is understandable.
