Indian Traffic Police is coming up with innovative ideas to get people to adhere to traffic rules and in order to raise awareness.
Recently, in an attempt to curb traffic rules violation in Bengaluru city, the cops came up with a bizarre idea of deploying 30 life-size mannequins dressed as traffic cops.
A few months ago, Lucknow traffic police were also seen distributing roses to people who were wearing helmets and following the traffic rules.
At the junction of MG Road and Brigade Road, Bangalore traffic police have installed a mannequin dressed in uniform, sort of like an elaborate scarecrow, to ensure people obey rules and don't jump signals. pic.twitter.com/MwKKUhD3Ix— Thejaswi Udupa (@udupendra) November 26, 2019
According to Bangalore Mirror, the brainchild behind this campaign is to make drivers believe that there is authority watching over them and so they'll follow traffic rules. Also, the location of the mannequins will be changed on a regular basis so that people don't get used to them.
However, the mannequins will be used during the day time and will be removed at night.
This led to some people appreciating the innovative idea and others have mixed reactions that'll cause a laughter riot.
While it is an interesting idea, it will most likely fail because this mannequin looks fitter than all the cops. May be they should add a bit of a paunch to make it more realistic.— Thejaswi Udupa (@udupendra) November 26, 2019
This says so much about India. The people, the regulatory bodies, the apathy, what the regulatory bodies think about the intellect of the people. So much!
Hope people will not steal that mannequin or steal the clothes of it, to make it naked— Sushmith (@Sushmithenator) November 26, 2019
It might nudge one into being more mindful while riding/driving. Definitely worth a shot! I hope they have a way to collect clean data on this and make a good before/after comparison!— H R Venkatesh (@hrvenkatesh) November 27, 2019
This is a perfect selfie stand. Like Ronald McDonald. ð— Ganesh Chakravarthi (@craynonymous) November 26, 2019
I see this and raise you this. At Agara signal. pic.twitter.com/507LYbK3rE— Shrabonti Bagchi (@Shrabonti) November 26, 2019
On the reverse, hope public doesn't take real police as mannequins. ;)— Sayed Bellary (@SayedBellary) November 26, 2019

However, Bengaluru traffic police have always come up with out-of-the-box ideas to educate drivers on the significance of following traffic rules. Some time back, they brought Lord Yamraj onto the roads to make the bikers aware of the importance of wearing helmets.
Let's see how this one works for the people of Bengaluru. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
