“What happens in Corsica, stays in Corsica” must have been a mantra that Ved and Tara tried hard to live by in the supremely impactful, coming-of-age Bollywood film Tamasha, but luckily for us, it travelled far beyond its intended geographical as well as physical boundaries.

Not only did the film floor us being the masterpiece that it is, but also filled our uninspiring lives with the pure gem of life lessons it bore within its many folds.

It's been four years since the movie hit the screens, and life, as we knew, hasn't been the same ever since. Every move that Ved made tugged at our hearts in recognition, as we fell victim to India's favourite pastime of producing another doctor, engineer or lawyer.

We shed a few tears at the hopelessness of his situation, and nursed a dull pain in our hearts as we relived our lives through the many years of slogging, uninspiring existence and the monotony that is 'work-life balance'.

So, when Ved decided to let loose his alter-ego in Corsica and really 'live' on his own terms for once, we celebrated with him. His exhilaration of leaving his 'other life' behind resonated with the excitement we felt at having been welcomed into this private journey (and escapades) involving 'Don' and 'Mona Darling'.

This alternate universe won us over and gave flight to a hope within our hearts which basically hummed 'Just give it a try. Take that risk. F*ck the society. Live your dream.', and when Ved finally decides to pay heed to his inner voice and act upon it, we stumble upon some of the greatest life lessons a movie could offer.

Here are 5 such priceless life lessons that Tamasha imparted which we wish came from our elders instead:

1. Don't Let Others Steal Your True Identity

Perhaps one of the greatest lessons Tamasha imparted, Ved's journey only confirmed that it's easy to lose ourselves under society's influence and its senseless demands but none of that is worth it if it means losing our true identity to live up to others' expectations.

2. Solo Travelling Is The Greatest Teacher

Not that we need to reiterate it, but we will find hundreds of people around us who would swear by the blessings of travelling solo. Much like Ved and Tara, travelling to new places helps us discover ourselves in a number of ways we never would have thought possible. Facing the unknown and surviving in an alien land, one day at a time, in your own company can sure show you who you truly are.

3. Each One Of Us Possesses Unexplored Talents

Every human being walking the face of the earth is gifted. All of us have talents and skills that not only make us unique but also, often equips us with just the right tools to carve our own identity through them. Ved was a great storyteller, and eventually, that is what saves him before it becomes too late for him to find his way back. Just like him, we have hidden potential too.

4. Be You

Simple and the easiest one to overlook. Tamasha teaches us that there is no greater joy in life than embracing who you really are, flaws and all. Hiding away from ourselves only wastes precious time, while we should be focused on becoming a better version of ourselves instead.

5. It's Never Too Late To Start

Ved eventually making peace with his destiny and following his heart's calling was basically the protagonist telling us that it's never too late to chase after our dreams. And boy, did we feel that.

With the kind of joy and positivity the final scenes exuded, we were convinced that that's exactly how life should be for each one of us.
