I would make a joke about our toxic ex or something, but this is way too serious for that. Delhi air is so polluted, it's literally cutting short the lifespan of all the people living here. Just reading that is so scary.

Reportedly, the air quality has become so deadly that the life expectancy of people living in Delhi may be cut short by 17 years. 17 freaking years. This is due to the concentration of the most dangerous pollutant known as PM2.5 in the air.

Moreover, right now, the air people in Delhi are inhaling is at least 25 times more toxic than the permissible limit according to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.

According to India Today, the average PM2.5 level in Delhi has been 254 over the last three weeks which is 30 points higher than that of 2018's. Basically, while we go through this smog period every year, it's scary how it keeps increasing with each passing year.

The high concentration of deadly air pollutants will directly affect the mortality rate of the people, and thus cutting it short by as much as 17 years. There is a disclaimer though, this is all based on the current levels of PM2.5.

We can only hope that some serious actions are taken to fight this air pollution emergency so the people don't have to face such fatal consequences.
