The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is in the middle of a rapid decline and people who used to follow the show with the utmost passion are finding a new home in the All Elite Wrestling (AEW)

It was rumoured that one of the biggest prospects and free agents from the world of professional wrestling, CM Punk would also be joining the upcoming brand, join forces with former WWE stars like Chris Jericho and Jonathan David Good (Dean Ambrose) to make AEW the next big thing.

Being the unpredictable enigma Punk really is, he appeared on a WWE subsidiary show called Backstage and broke Twitter in half.

He is here, he is fucking here, I know that he has made his backstage return only not in ring but you know that's true what they say Never say never #CMPunk #WWE @WWE

The notoriously outspoken performer's return to the WWE is specifically shocking for the fans primarily because of the way in which the two parties separated, with Vince McMahon firing the man on his wedding day.

Since the incident, Punk has repeatedly said that he would never return to the company and even tried his hand at MMA and went on to compete in the UFC and lost both the fights he took part in.

Before parting ways with the brand, Punk had cut one of the best promos the WWE Universe had ever seen. As someone who considered himself to be “voice of the voiceless,” he blurred the line that separated reality from kayfabe.

Now that he is back on the show, presumably just as someone behind the microphone and not actually performing inside the ring, the show could still receive a much-needed ratings boost.
