After Panipat's trailer hit the internet, comparisons were bound to happen. Considering that it's a larger than life movie, people compared the movie to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani.
Sanjay Dutt will be seen as Ahmad Shah Abdali in Panipat on the big screen, the main antagonist, which will remind you of Ranveer Singh's Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat.
There were a few people who hailed Ranveer being the best choice for the movie but then there were some who said Sanjay is far better than Ranveer as there are PR gimmicks involved.

I remember how SLB glorified khilji and Ranveer played pr games to show Khilji as a lead
Don't worry @RanveerOfficial Sanjay Dutt or saif(tanhaji) will not glorify or represent them as a lead hero of movie by visiting psychiatristð#PanipatTrailer pic.twitter.com/PRq6e5DJAT
Didn't locked himself in the room
No psychiatric treatment
No self praising
No comparison with heath ledger ð
Abdali ka ghost bhi nahi dekha set peð
2 pics are enough to tell how overrated Khilji wasð

While people are surely missing Ranveer, they agree that Sanjay Dutt is the one who justifies his character and will be the major reason for people to book the tickets for the movie.
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film will depict the story behind Third Battle of Panipat, which was fought between the Maratha Empire and the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali.
Here's the trailer:
Apart from Panipat, Sanjay Dutt's upcoming projects include Mahesh Bhatt's Sadak 2, which is the sequel to the actor's 1991 film by the same name.
He will also be seen playing an important role in war film Bhuj: The Pride of India which is based on the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The actor plays a Gujarati villager, Ranchordas Savabhai Rabari Pagi, who was instrumental in India's victory against its neighbouring country.
