Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, the capital of Uttar Pradesh in India. It thrives along the banks of Gomti and is incredibly sculptured by the Mughals. This captivating place has its own cuisine and monument; to our surprise, it has one more alluring thing in its treasured box. Chikankari is one of the most beautiful arts which are preserved by our people. Chikankari is the original form of embroidery, which is originated in the Mughal period. The special kind of embroidery was first introduced to Noor Jahan, the famous Mughal emperor Jahangir’s wife.

This beautiful textile is handcrafted with white threads done on various fabrics such as net, muslin, Cotton, georgette, silk, chiffon, organza, crepe etc.  The fabric has to be neither too thick nor too hard so that the needle passes through easily.  The process involves block printing which is done before the design to be exact in shape and size.

These fabric are then converted into beautiful designer chikankari suits and Kurtis,
