Whoever Wins The US Election Will Get Obamas Twitter Followers and We Cant Wait To See Some Really Stupid Tweets

Twitter followers are one of the most desired and sacred goals on the internet today. Most people strive to gain a great following and some struggle. Unfortunately, Obama will have to give up his @POTUS Twitter account to one of the candidates once he leaves office. The twitter handle has over 11.1 million followers and Obama will have to give them all up as well.

The saving grace here is that all the tweets will be wiped for the next president so that they can run their own social media campaign with a clean slate. The Obama administration wants to “preserve and pass on the digital history if the Obama administration” or at least that was said in the new White House bulletin. The bulletin further explains in detail as to how the transition of all social media accounts will occur.

“On Twitter, for example, the handle @POTUS will be made available to the 45th President of the United States on January 20, 2017. The account will retain its more than 11 million followers but start with no tweets on the timeline. @POTUS44, a newly created handle maintained by NARA, will contain all of President Obama’s tweets and will be accessible to the public on Twitter as an archive of President Obama’s use of the account. In addition, President Obama’s tweets will also be archived at NARA, where they will be preserved and accessible in the same manner as all other Presidential records.”

Just imagine if Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton wins the election this month, he/she will be taking over the POTUS account and the followers it has already amassed. Let that sink in for a bit.

President Obama will not have a huge problem leaving the account to the next President as his own personal account has over 78.5 million followers. Let’s just hope they utilise the social media reach for some good and not operate through some dodgy email server.
