Whether it is football, cricket or any other sport, commentators have been entertaining the global audience over the years. And, for a sport like cricket that comparatively spans over a longer period of time, the commentary is practically a lifeline for viewers glued to the TV sets for hours.

Sachin Tendulkar's scintillating straight drives couldn't have looked better without Tony Grieg's voice in the background. Such is the power of their animated narration that a fan sitting a million miles away from the match venue can feel the electric atmosphere of the stadium.

Their catchy phrases and humourous one-liners tend to leave an impact on the minds of the masses, even days after the game. Amid numerous commentators with their own unique style of commentating, India's Ravi Shastri surely stands out for his trademark 'Tracer Bullet' phrase.

And more recently, the former Indian cricketer challenged his fellow commentators to do a Tracer Bullet duel with him. While the 'Tracer Bullet Challenge' witnessed many legends fail miserably at the task at hand, the results were undoubtedly hilarious for the ones watching them.

The challenge might seem like a cakewalk at first, but imitating Shastri in his high-pitch dialogue: "He bowls a juicy half-volley and Virat Kohli drives through the covers and it goes like a tracer bullet", surely takes some doing.

From the former England captain Naseer Hussain to the Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, here's a look at top five #TracerBulletChallenge videos:

Kapil Dev

India's World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev impressed Ravi Shastri and nailed the challenge with his unique Hindi version.

Ian Botham

Former Indian cricketer Ian Botham surprised Ravi Shastri with the 'slow' Tracer Bullet.

Sunil Gavaskar

The original 'Little Master' Sunil Gavaskar also managed to escape unscathed from the challenge.

Nasser Hussain

Former England captain Nasser Hussain didn't just manage to wow Shastri, but also got a thumbs up from Shaz.

Amitabh Bachchan

Last, but definitely not the least, one of India's most iconic voices, Amitabh Bachchan, too, couldn't resist taking the viral 'Tracer Bullet Challenge'.

Apart from the prominent figures, many Twitter users also tried their hand at the challenge. Here are a few more videos to tickle your funny bone:

Virat Kohli will surely like the footwork of this pint-sized batsman in this funny video.

A kid trying to imitate Shastri probably seems like a bad idea, but this youngster nails the 'Tracer Bullet Challenge' like a pro.

Looks like this guy did all the hardwork with a proper match-scenario script, but it turns out to be a tad too lengthy. Our advice, stick to the basics and just keep it short.

This one is just beyond words. Stuart Ball has the ball in hands? Wait, did he just say Virat Kohli has skid through the covers like a tracer bullet?
