Bugatti has been churning out some of the most iconic cars the motor world has ever known. Be it the Veyron, or the Chiron, or any other car that the French automobile company makes, their cars make headlines all over the world.
People who follow Bugatti across social media channels will know that they have been teasing a new car for some time now.
Well, recently, they just unveiled their latest car, the Bugatti Bolide. Now, the name may not be as awe-inspiring as the Chiron or Divo. However, don’t let the name fool you.
The new Bugatti Bolide, when it finally rolls off the production line after all the boffins at Bugatti have tinkered with it to their heart’s content, will be the fastest car in the world.
Right now, it is a concept car, meaning that only one prototype of the car exists. And by the looks of it, it is going to be a monstrosity of a machine.
Just consider this - the fastest, petrol-powered, non-hybrid car around the Nordschleife circuit at Nurburgring was the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ with a time of 6:44:97 minutes. '
The Bolidelapped the revered circuit, in a record time of 5:23:1 minute. That’s a difference of 1:31:2 minutes. In hypercar terms, that’s almost a decade.
Bugatti says that when they are finally ready to put the car for sale, it should be able to hit 500kmph in a straight line, with ease. The fastest that a Bugatti will go as of today, is the Chiron Super Sport 300+, which is just under 490 kmph.
The Bolide has a W16 engine that is capable of churning out up to 1825 hp. This, when combined with the fact that the Bolide weighs just 1240 kgs, gives it the highest power to weight ratio in a supercar.
To put that into perspective, the Chiron had an engine output of 1500 hp and weighed nearly 2000 kgs. We just can’t help but wonder, how much fuel would the car burn while doing a to speed run.
If these numbers boggled your mind, wait till you see the aerodynamic elements of the car. It is by far, the most aggressive and track-oriented looking car that Bugatti has made, all thanks to the scoops, and the vents that the car is surrounded by.
The rear section of the car, is especially, aggressive. It has a giant rear spoiler and a huge rear diffuser, work in tandem with the mid-mounted exhaust to keep the car glued to the surface.
Now, comes the price. Speculations by experts peg the car to be priced around 5 million pounds, or $6.5 Million. When you convert into Indian Rupees, you get a figure of Rs 48 Crores and that’s before all the taxes, and import duties.
If you were to import it to India, add all that up and you’re looking at a sticker price of over Rs 100 Crores.
Suffice to say, this is one heck of a car. If only we had enough roads in India where one could drive such a beast. Oh, and of course, a wallet deep enough to actually get our hands on one.
