With the kind of drama and plot twists the twelfth season of the Indian Premier League is producing, we might as well start calling the daily matches “episodes” of a cringey but superhit Indian soap opera that literally millions of people watch on a regular basis.
Along with all the lights, the music, the dancing, leagues like these are most definitely making the sport a lot more exciting and with the T20 format taking over the world life wildfire, cricket has never been more popular amongst the younger generations.
But, maybe that's not enough. They want people to talk about controversies and rowdy behaviour by the players and disrespecting the officials like highschool bullies.

The battles of “he said, she said” do not help either. Well respected men of cricket, people like Harsha Bhogle and Shane Warne are fighting on Twitter over something like Ashwin's 'mankading' just to add a tinch of masala to the piping hot mess this season is turning out to be.
Harsha you are missing the point completely & I'm disappointed in you as you always push the spirit of the game - now you condone this behaviour ? Ashwin's actions were simply disgraceful, and I hope the BCCI doesn't condone this sort of behaviour in the #IPL ! #spiritofthegame https://t.co/BsIKDBN51X

The point is that IPL is famous, yes. Cricketing fans from all over the world are glued to their smartphones and televisions to watch the four-hour-long matches on weekdays and double the amount on the weekends. The viewership and continued to grow through the years thanks to channels like Star Sports 1 Tamil and Jalsha Movies providing match commentary in the regional languages and the male-female contribution in the exponentially growing views has remained consistent, according to a report shared by the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India.
In other words, business is good and that should be enough, right? So, what is the need to add such controversies and disputes to the sport?
Theories may come and theories may go, but this one goes on forever.
Ever since 'Avengers: Infinity War' came out last year, all Marvel fans have spent all their time watching and rewatching everything from Marvel, trying to find out clues and form theories for 'Avengers: Endgame'. Some seem spot on, some are too big to reach, and then some theories are so ridiculous, they become so iconic they even reach back to the cast and the directors.
If 'Ant-Man going up Thanos' ass and expanding' didn't immediately come to your mind, I'm sorry but you're not a true Marvel fan.
This is the theory that has formed a life of its own and has probably haunted Paul Rudd, and Josh Brolin, of course, for months. The theory is so simple yet so complicated, so ridiculous but ridiculous enough to actually work.
And, we're not the only ones advocating for Ant-Man to go inside Thanos; turns out, even Robert Downey Jr is a fan.
While doing press for the biggest Marvel movie yet, two of the OG Avengers - Jeremy Renner and RDJ - talked about all the crazy fan theories. Jeremy kept it professional and said, “I just love the creativity that comes from theories. They're hilarious, they're pretty crazy… but it means people are invested in the stories.”
RDJ, on the other hand, was just being, well, RDJ. He would obviously bring up the viral theory. He said, “My favorite [fan theory] is Ant-Man goes up Thanos' butt and then makes himself big. And that's exactly what happens.”

Well, the Russo Brothers were already on board with this theory and now that they have RDJ's support, it can only mean one thing - Thanos better watch his back...and his butt.

One of the leading ladies of international cricket and Kiwi superstar Hayley Jensen and her fellow athlete from Down Under, Nicola Hancock decided to make their cricketing partnership last a lifetime, as the couple tie the knot last weekend.
Having been teammates for two straight seasons for Australia's Big Bash League franchise, Melbourne Stars, the couple saw a lot of individual success in the T20 league.
While Jensen, an all-rounder, won the prestigious Una Paisley medal for being Victoria Women's Premier Cricket league's best player of the 2017-18 season, Hancock finished the latest season of the BBL as her squad's second-highest wicket-taker with 13 scalps in 14 games with an average of 19.92.
The official news of the wedding was broken online by Hancock's team last evening:

"From #TeamGreen, congratulations to Stars bowler Nicola Hancock who married her partner Hayley Jensen last weekend!" the picture was captioned.
Australia legalised same-sex marriage in December 2017 while New Zealand granted it the royal assent way back in 2013.
However, as soon as the wedding pictures were available online, homophobia took over with the blink of an eye and flooded the team's twitter handle with slurs demeaning same-sex marriage:

One common response to such homophobia is that it is the part of the society and that homosexual people have to be mentally strong enough to make such a decision and face the society with their heads held high, but why?
Maybe that is the question that needs to be answered now. With the LGBTQ community being welcomed into society with open arms, why is it that marriage, a gesture to celebrate love, needs for the people involved to “prepare themselves”? Do straight couples need to worry about the kind of criticism that they might face from society after they get married?
Sure, homosexuality has become a part of the world that we live in and sure people now have the right to identify themselves as “gay”, but normalising it, in our mundane lives, is something that continues to be our "to-do” list
The internet is truly a bizarre place and we say that because threes a race to one-up that bizarreness, everyday with new and upcoming trends on social media. The new trends that follow are weird and strange challenges, which take over the social domain like a hot piece of chocolate. Some are rather dangerous and the rest just strange. We've been on the receiving end of a lot of challenges that have come and gone. From the Kiki challenge to the tide-pod challenge, everything has been tried and tested, even in India and now we have a new challenge doing the rounds, which can be dangerous but it's a quite senseless TBH.
The 'Shell On Challenge' is going viral right now and taking the internet by storm as we speak. It basically involves teenagers challenging each other to eat the food along with its packaging, whether it's natural food or processed. Sounds strange right? Well, it really is!
Videos have emerged on the Internet where kids have taken the challenge a bit too seriously and have eaten banana's with their peels intact, lemon zest, egg shells, candy wrappers and plastic packaging on food for fun. I mean it may seem fun to these kids but it can be quite dangerous if what they're consuming is plain plastic!

— emily jane (@emilyjanefrank) 14 April 2019
A kid in the US, who is a student in high school tried to follow up with this challenge by biting off a packet containing carrots, in order to ingest the 'shell' or the plastic it was wrapped in. The video of him doing the same caught on and has now gone viral.
'Shell on' challenge is the latest dangerous Snapchat trend among teens https://t.co/MtNA8NhLCT pic.twitter.com/9vmQMcnI85
— New York Post (@nypost) 17 April 2019
He also made a statement saying “It just looks funny, because it's not really a shell but people are calling things shells. I guess that is what's funny about it,”
People from all over the world have reacted to the challenge and most of them aren't really amused by it as it's clearly the worst possible way to have fun!
I think eating food with “the shell on” could be the next big college sport. Gonna start scouting for talent.
— Jon Berger (@bergerbomb44) 17 April 2019
I wondered why Boomers judged GenZ until I saw a thread about the “shell on challenge”

So the next time you see a kid around you eating a banana or a pineapple with its 'shell' intact, don't freak out. Just maybe tell them there are far better ways to have fun than slip in to and be part of stranger things.
On February 14, when most people were celebrating the day of love i.e. Valentine's Day with their respective partners, some families were weeping and mourning the death of their loved ones, who were in the Central Reserve Police Force.
The nation has not forgotten their death and never will, and in order to salute their courage and bravery our Bollywood actors recently took out time to pay tribute to the martyrs.
In memory of the bravehearts, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor recently paid a soulful tribute, called 'Tu Desh Mera'. The official Twitter account of CRPF posted their BTS pictures on social media and thanked them for their tribute.
CRPF wrote, "Commendable work has been done by @SrBachchan, @aamir_khan and #RanbirKapoor for the tribute song #TuDeshMera dedicated to the Martyrs of Pulwama. We would like to thank you all for showing your support towards the Martyrs."

Almost two months ago, over 40 CRPF jawans were martyred in Pulwama, when an SUV laden with explosives rammed into the convoy carrying the jawans, in one of the worst terrorist attacks ever in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Post that, things have worsened between India and Pakistan with reports of attacks coming almost every other day.
Ever since 'Captain Marvel' was announced and Brie Larson took on the role of the strongest Avenger, she's received way too much hate. If hardcore Marvel fans actually don't prefer her in the role of the superhero, that is still understandable, but most of the trolling she faced was mainly from sexist dudebros who personally had a vendetta against Brie or were just too intimidated by a badass female superhero.
Whatever that case may be, I feel like she has been judged very unfairly by a lot of people. But, guess what? That doesn't matter that much because the entire Marvel cast has welcomed her into the Avengers family with open arms and couldn't be more happy with her or the character of Captain Marvel.
This press tour has already given us so many iconic moments of everyone together, probably for the last time, joking around and having the time of their lives. It also gave us so many great moments of Brie with all her costars.

The world-renowned Boston Marathon has been one of the greatest tests of a man's physical capabilities, endurance and unshaken devotion. Throughout the years, the event has been home to some of the most memorable moments in the history of the United States of America, some good and some rather unfortunate, such as the 2013 bombings.
A celebration of just 'being able', the Boston Marathon is more of a festival than a race. For Micah Herndon, a US Marine, however, it meant a lot more than all of that. The Ohio-born soldier was running the distance in honour of three of his comrades who lost their lives while serving their nation in Afghanistan.
“I run in honour of them,” Herndon told the Record-Courier. “They are not here anymore. I am here, and I am able. I am lucky to still have all my limbs. I can still be active. I find fuel in the simple idea that I can run. Some can not.”
However, the Marine's tribute for his fallen brothers in arms turned out to be a lot more difficult than he had ever imagined. After running for a little over 42 km and the finishing line in his sight, Herndon's legs suddenly locked up, ending up in him collapsing on the road. Going through immense pain, he was unable to stand on his feet.
"Both my legs locked up, the worst pain I've ever experienced running,” Herndon said.
As the medical team approached him, he refused to seek help, not until he cleared the finish line, all by himself, and he did.
How badly do you want it? #BostonMarathon pic.twitter.com/EYo7liqM5Q
— Dana Giordano (@dana_gio6) April 15, 2019
Crawling on his hands and knees, Herndon finally made it to the end of the marathon before immediately being assisted with a wheelchair and rushed to the hospital.
"The mindset of a Marine, you finish it by yourself,” he said.
The soldier also spoke about what kept him motivated throughout his ordeal. He said that whenever he felt like giving up, he just remembered his comrades' faces and names, which gave him the strength to carry on. Herndon also engraved the names of the fallen on the shoes that he wore for the run as a gesture of respect.
After serving his time in Afghanistan, Herndon says that running helps him deal with his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
"One way for me to deal with everything is to get in my own zone, my own headspace, and just go,” he said. “I will have setbacks in my life. I will go backwards, but it's how you respond going forward.”

If you still have weekend plans, do it at your own risk, we say.
To quote one of the most questioned players to make it to the final Indian roster for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 in Dinesh Karthik, “There will always be someone who will miss out. That's the nature of the game…”, and surely enough, with the total number of slots at 15 and over 25 supremely talented players competing for them, it is bound to happen that some players would miss out on the opportunity to represent their country in the biggest cricketing tournament there is.
One of the best (or worst?) examples of such a case is that of the 21-year-old wicket-keeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, who missed out on the opportunity to a veteran like Karthik, who's considered to bring greater stability and consistency to the already talent-laden squad.
On the other hand is the curious case of the 33-year-old Ambati Rayudu who initially was brought up to the team as a batting all-rounder who'd fit perfectly in the two-down spot for the Men in Blue. However, with his questionable bowling action being rejected by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and he batting form spiralling, the Guntur born had to be removed from the final team ahead of the World Cup.
Unable to take the news like a good sportsman that he is, Rayudu took a sly shot at the selectors and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by tweeting this:
Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup ðð..
— Ambati Rayudu (@RayuduAmbati) April 16, 2019
Losing his spot to Vijay Shankar, who made his ODI debut just a couple of months ago in January, Rayudu said that he's just ordered a pair of 3-D glasses to watch the World Cup. This was in reference to team selector MSK Prasad, who'd called Shankar a three-dimensional player.
Responding to the tweet in support was yet another Indian cricketer who was put on the spot by the ICC for an objectionable bowling action and had to revamp the very essential part of his game, Pragyan Ojha.
Curious case of some Hyderabadi cricketers... been in a similar situation... understand the winkâð¼ https://t.co/zLtAQIMvYn
— Pragyan Prayas Ojha (@pragyanojha) April 16, 2019
“Curious case of some Hyderabadi cricketers... been in a similar situation... understand the wink”, tweeted the former Indian cricketer.
Taking his own example after having missed out on the opportunity to play for his country in the 2015 World Cup, Ojha pointed out that being dropped from the team ahead of crucial games is evident for “some Hyderabadi cricketers”.
However, his dig at the selectors did not sit well with the fans of Indian cricket:
Isn't that why u were supporting him the day before selections? I hAvE gRoWn Up WiTh HiM. Pot calling Kettle black. Instead of whining over selections & talking nonsense filth to divide fans, support the ones who are selected, doesn't matter from which part of India they are from
