Marking a refreshing twist in a stateâs approach towards its migrant workforce, the Kerala government has set a precedent by referring to the migrant labourers in the state as 'guest labourers'.
Amid the unforeseen ongoing situation of a global pandemic, that has put countries around the world in complete lockdown, hundreds and thousands of migrant and daily wage labourers are stranded with nowhere to go.
Showing compassion at such a time, the Kerala government, as always, is leading by example by showing a proactive approach, not just towards handling the Coronavirus outbreak but also for its treatment of such workers, whom Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, as well as other government officials, now refer to as 'Atithi thozhilalikal'.
Atithi means guest and thozhilalikal means mazdoor or labourer.
Every good gesture must be appreciated and this particular observation was made by a journalist on Twitter who referred to this as âcreating new words/cultures during #CoronaCrisisâ.
In Kerala, thereâs a new word to refer to migrant workers. Itâs guest labourers (Atithi thozhilalikal). As the CM to officials started using it, itâs becoming a common word there, I am told. creating new words/culture during #CoronaCrisis â Liz Mathew (@MathewLiz) March 27, 2020
Interestingly, the term was first coined by the state's Finance Minister Thomas Issac during his Budget speech in February 2018.
The idea behind this was to commemorate the 3.5 million migrant labourers in Kerala and honour them for their contributions to the stateâs labour force.
The journalistâs post on Twitter about the Vijayan government honouring the workers did not go unappreciated on social media.
Kerala is setting so many examples â Anjali Ojha (@ojhaanjali) March 27, 2020Itâs so much better than Anyasamsthaana thozhilalikal tbh! â Miss Mojo Jojo (@shw8ster) March 27, 2020This word declared on Pinarayi govt's budget on 2018. Work is worship. â BrawlyPooch (@MeanderingWonk) March 27, 2020Thatâs a much better word to address them. Kerala canât survive without them. I wish the Middle East and South East Asian governments address us like that. â comfortablynumb (@TapTap_80) March 27, 2020However, some people also expressed concern stating that merely renaming migrant workers as 'guests' would not solve the crisis of thousands of workers as jobs are drying up right now.
To add to that, in the absence of public transport during the lockdown, many were forced to undertake arduous journeys back home on foot.
What about this? While we Tamils here are supporting keralites Kerala govt at this time of crisis forcefully evicted and dropped tamil migrant workers at borders without providing food and water.. â The Postman (@kumarikandan) March 27, 2020Meanwhile, will you please find out whether Vijayan's Govt did arrange exit of many such 'guest workers' by special trains to Assam and Santragachi in the past few weeks???? Have been asking this to fellow malayali WARRIORS and NONE, I repeat NONE have cared to respond @seemay â V. Krishna Ananth (@VKrishnaAnanth) March 27, 2020yeah thts wht we need now, new words.. slow clap for the CM #ChinaVirus19 â Low IQ Intellectual (@LowIQ18) March 27, 2020Sounds good and lessens the guilt but on critical thinking itâs OXYMONORIC. which culture ask guest to do paid work ? â bhupen (@bhupendubey) March 27, 2020Nevertheless, addressing them as 'guests' instead of migrants is surely a positive shift in the approach towards them which should be followed by other states too.
Moreover, the government has also set up community kitchens for guest labourers to ensure smooth supply of food for people hit by the crisis. View the full article
It's extremely important for everyone in the world to stay the eff inside, since it's the only way to stop the spread of coronavirus. I don't even have to explain it to anyone that stopping the pandemic is the only priority for the entire planet right now. Till now, Indians who can stay inside seem to be following the protocol and are self-isolating, which is great news. On a not so positive not, those who had no other option but to step out were thrashed by the police.
But, with almost everyone staying indoors, we get to see something we don't usually see - animals and birds thriving and living their best lives. A few people have been sharing videos and pictures of animals seemingly reclaiming the land and well, what a sight! One video from Chandigarh showed a Sambar deer taking a zebra crossing on a wide, empty road that divides Sector 9 and Sector 10 in the city.

The COVID-19 pandemic has literally brought the entire world to a halt. A lot of industries now stand affected because of this virus, forcing various companies to make alterations to the way they operate.
Smartphone makers across the globe have been forced to postpone their launches and just wait for the situation to get better. But they're indeed doing their part to help their consumers. Several smartphone brands including OnePlus, Huawei, Honor, and Realme are extending warranties on their devices.
How's that going to help? Well, in case you have a phone that's nearing the end of its warranty period amidst the lockdown, you'll get some more time to get your phone replaced or fixed in case anything happens to it. Here's a list of smartphone makers who're extending the warranties of their phones -
OnePlus has announced that it's extending warranties till May 31 for the devices with warranty ending between March 1st and May 30th. Besides that, the company has also announced that it's extending the replacement period from 15 days to 30 days. The repair services are not available in India right now though, due to the complete lockdown enforced by the central government.
Huawei has also announced that it's extending the warranties on its phones further till June 30 due to COVID-19. This, obviously, is only applicable for the devices for which the warranty expires between March 21 and June 21.
Weâre here to support you! As a gesture of good faith, we have extended the warranty on all smartphones, smartwatches, headsets, chargers, etc. to 30th Juneâ2020, whose warranty expires between 21st March 2020 to 21st June 2020.#HuaweiIndia #HuaweiService #Warranty #Support pic.twitter.com/EW0IOhWRpK â Huawei India (@HuaweiIndia) March 25, 2020
Realme also followed suit and announced that it will be extending warranties till May 31. This will be applicable on devices for which the warranty is ending between March 20 and April 30. In addition to that, for purchases made between March 15 and April 30, the replacement period has been extended to 30 days.
Few supportive steps for all our users during this tough period: -Extended warranty till 31st May for those whose warranty expires between 20th Mar- 30th Apr '20 -Extended Replacement period to 30 days for those who purchased our devices between 15th Mar- 30th Apr '20#StayStrong pic.twitter.com/uHlkkRZPQw â realme (@realmemobiles) March 26, 2020
Much like Huawei, its sub-brand Honor is also extending warranties in India till June 30. It'll be applicable to devices for which the warranty is expiring between March 21 and June 21.
Lastly, Oppo has also announced that it's extending the warranty of its devices till May 31. This will be applicable on warranties ending on or after March 23. View the full article
Bollywood movies are known for their peppy dance numbers and soulful ballads that leave an indelible mark in peopleâs hearts and make fans come back for them again and again. However, an important aspect about Bollywood songs that we cannot overlook is that many of these chartbuster songs are inspired by or adapted from regional songs.
These inspired songs often become equally popular with the Hindi speaking population who do not realise that these are not original compositions. Just like these 10 Bollywood songs which were inspired by regional Indian songs and became super hits. 1. Dilbaro (Raazi) - Khanmaej Koor
The opening stanza of this song is made up of a very popular Kashmiri wedding song titled Khanmaej Koor and is sung when the bride is leaving her childhood home to move in with her in-laws.

This song is inspired by a very popular Gujarati song Ranglo that is commonly sung during dandiya raas at the time of Navratri celebrations in the state.
3. Arey Pyaar Karle (Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan) - Je Jon Premer Bhab Jaane Na
This disco number inspired by the 80s peppy beats is the Hindi adaptation of Bengali song titled Je Jon Premer Bhab Jaane Na from the movie Sangsar.
4. Engine Ki Seeti (Khoobsurat) - Engine Ki Seeti Mein
This hit number from Sonam Kapoor-Fawad Khan starrer Khoobsurat is an adaptation of a popular Rajasthani folk song by the same name.
5. Tu Laung Main Elaichi (Luka Chuppi) - Laung Laachi
This hit song from Luka Chuppi that found many takers even on Tik Tok was the Hindi adaptation of Punjabi song titled Laung Laachi by Mannat Noor.
6. Soja Zara (Baahubali 2) - Kannaa Nidurinchara
Though all the songs from the Baahubali franchise were adapted from Telugu to Hindi, Madhushreeâs Hindi rendition of Kannaa Nidurinchara called Soja Zara became hugely popular with the masses.
7. Tere Bin (Simmba) - Tere Bin Nahin Lagda
This one from Ranveer Singhâs Simmba is inspired by a classic Punjabi number by renowned Pakistani qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan called Tere Bin Nahin Lagda.

This crazy dance number from Jhanvi Kapoor and Ishan Khattarâs debut film Dhadak was adapted from the filmâs Marathi counterpart Sairat.

But I thought we were wasting such a good attacking batsman batting so low. For me, he was the No. 1 batsman in the team. So, I made him open,â Azhar said while explaining his decision. Yesterday, we got our first look at the specs of the upcoming OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. As usual, OnePlus is eyeing to launch some of the most powerful phones. And today, we have got our first look at the OnePlus 8 Pro, thanks to the leaked render images that showed up online.
The popular tipster OnLeaks has given us our first look at the OnePlus 8 Pro in a striking new green color. We've already seen the leaks of OnePlus 8 Pro before, but this one is the most detailed render yet, and it shows off the device from all four sides.
And here comes your very first look at an official press render showing the #OnePlus8Pro from all angles + final specs sheet!

It looks more like aquamarine color than green, however, it remains to be seen how it would look in person.
About the device itself, we can see a punch-hole display with a cutout for the camera. Looks like OnePlus is done with notches and pop-up sliders as seen on the older OnePlus phones. The punch hole appears to be very small in size, but again, we haven't had the chance to see the device in person yet.

The outbreak of deadly coronavirus has forced people across the globe to be on a complete lockdown due to the unforeseen circumstance. Weâll begin the series with the match that solidified the rivalry between two of the greatest wrestlers of the âAttitude Eraâ in Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.
Random match appreciation Tweet.
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock at WrestleMania 17 for the WWF Championship is so freakin great. I love this match so much... It's just incredible. pic.twitter.com/XKSlQn2Ar6 â Kyle (@kyle_bardin) December 16, 2018
The âNo Disqualificationâ match for the WWF Championship title, which was with The Rock at the moment, was made highly prestigious thanks to some brilliant storytelling, some nerve-wracking promos and some nail-biting in-ring performances by the two stars.
According to the narrative, Vince McMahon had made Stone Coldâs then-wife Debra Marshall The Rockâs manager, whoâd get in harmâs way every now and then, because of the fact that The Rock was the champion.
Stone Cold was also portrayed as this hungry fighter who wanted to take the title away from his rival by any means necessary. McMahon, himself, was an active part of the storyline and had made the lives of the two wrestlers an absolute hell.
The brand took its sweet time building up to the match at WrestleMania 17. There were promos in which Stone Cold would offer The Rock a can of beer with an unusual animosity in his eyes, then there were times when The Rock was ready to strike the Texas Rattlesnake with the âRock Bottomâ but whenever the two were found to be sharing the ring, theyâd always end beating each other up.
And then came judgement day. It was a brawl which felt as if the two wrestlers wanted to hurt each other truly and badly. There was blood dripping down from both their heads, they were finding it difficult to breathe because of how long it went for, but somehow, they managed to keep the audience on their toes.
The commentary done by legends like Jim Ross and Paul Heyman sold the match as if Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson had somehow managed to go head to head.
After they tried everything, stole each othersâ finishers and strangled each other with all the submission locks in the world, entered Vince McMahon.
When Austin asked McMahon to bring him the steel chair, that is when he changed into a heel in this storyline. Heâd go on to smash The Rock in the head with the chair a couple of times followed by a barrage of chair shots to his back before finally pinning him and winning the title.
This not only made Austin the champion but also made The Rock look extremely powerful.
It is because of moments like these that this rivalry is still considered to be the best the company would ever have to offer.
The true fans of the profession will completely appreciate how massive this match was for both their careers and also for the company that made millions from it. View the full article

To leave a bad taste in (oneâs) mouth has been stretched a little too far in this case, quite literally! At a time when the world is dealing with a deadly virus outbreak, there are people who are licking toilet seats for fun sake. And the result? Well, a TikTok user, called GayShawnMendes aka Larz, based in California recently claimed that he is admitted in the hospital after he was tested positive for coronavirus as he was part of the 'Coronavirus challenge' that involved the licking of a toilet seat.
