Prime Videos Hunters - Al Pacino & Logan Lerman Go Nazi-Chasing, But Its All Too By-The-Book

I was never surprised by Jordan Peeleâs success as a filmmaker. Sure, a few eyebrows were raised when the comedian-writer-Youtube superstar announced his directorial/screenplay debut with 2017âs Get Out - after all, what kind of comedian can write and pull off a horror movie?
The 99% RottenTomatoes score spoke for itself - Which means that this yearâs Hunters, an Amazon Prime drama tackling a fictionalised, bloody and brutal aftermath of the Jewish Holocaust, certainly has a lot to live upto with Peeleâs production credits behind the banner.
© Prime video The story follows the life of Jonah (Logan Lerman) - a young, dope-slinging Jewish kid who, after the mysterious murder of his Holocaust-surviving grandmother, finds himself chasing down the killer through vignettes of late 1970s New York. Heâs soon taken under the wing of another survivor and Nazi-hunter Meyer Offerman (Al Pacino), who introduces Jonah to a world of hidden genocide-conspirators, vigilante justice and moral lines he never imagined he would cross.
Hereâs the thing - weâve been hunting Nazis for a while now, and whether youâre looking at Captain America or Tarantinoâs Inglorious Basterds, the world of Holocaust-justice is well-saturated and thereâs only space for the new, the exciting and the wholly original.
© Prime Video On series creator David Weilâs part, the inspiration for his script comes from a place of genuine reminiscence. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the director explained how inspiration for the series stemmed from old memories. At the age of six, Weil and his brothers would gather around their Holocaust-survivor grandmother to listen to stories illustrating her experiences of Nazi domination in the Unterlüss concentration camp, and World War II at large.
âIt was such a strange and jarring thing to hear as a kid,â Weil told EW on the showâs Brooklyn set. So, he processed them the only way he knew how: âI saw those stories as comic book stories, stories of grand good versus grand evil, and that became the lens through which I saw the Holocaust.â
© Prime Videos This black-and-white, good vs. evil dichotomy is pretty apparent right from the opening scene of Hunters. Weâre introduced to an all-American family barbeque, and within minutes, everyone except the Nazi-in-hiding is lying in their own blood, the latter having been found out by one of the guests. Thereâs a certain prescient aura behind the direction itself - the music, staging and even the camera try their best to tell you whatâs going on. This inevitably hampers keeping a steady pace of tension and mystery through the seriesâ rather long hour-plus episodes, and you develop a sense that things are going exactly where you expect them to, which isnât always ideal for a drama series.
None of this detracts too much from the cinematography and score, however - any â70s nostalgia and war history buff would be delighted to see iconic music put into lovingly crafted shots of exaggerated Nazi archetypes and sombre moments of post-hippie Bronx life.
© Amazon Prime; Greg Austin as Nazi hitman, Travis Leich. His intro shot pans us into a heart-shaped bathtub, surrounded by Third Reich red walls and what looks like a copy of Mein Kampf in hand. To top it off, Liza Minnelliâs Cabaret performance of Mein To keep things moving across different tangents, weâre also taken through the eyes of Jesus-lovinâ FBI agent, Millie Malone (Jerrika Hinton). As a black woman in the seventies, we see her punch above her weight through investigations that meld NASA scientists with Nazi conspiracy theories. Her performance is quite slick and polished, though we wish her character was given a bit more depth and nuance in the script.
© Amazon Prime; Another nice little music-video intro comes in with Malone sitting in an NYC subway train, Bible (and revolver) in hand as Pastor T.L. Barettâs Nobody Knows rings in the background. Thereâs a tiny bit of Pulp Fictionâs Jules Winnfield in h And then thereâs Al Pacino. At nearly 80, itâs surprising that the legendary actor can keep dishing out good performances, but thereâs something a bit generic about the role heâs taken in this film. The dialogues remain somewhat formulaic, sanitised⦠almost mass-produced. While the delivery is spot on (despite an Italian-American playing a European Jew), thereâs the strange sense that youâve heard something like this before. Logan Lermanâs portrayal has the same problem, but perhaps the actorâs Jewish heritage and experience playing working-class heroes lends a good deal of spice to the mix - especially when it comes to emotionally loaded scenes, where he absolutely steals the show.
© Amazon Prime; If only the script worked a bit harder to push both protagonistsâ personalities to the forefront, and let the plot speak for itself. It must be kept in mind though, that despite imperfections in the screenplay, this seems to be creator David Weilâs very first attempt at directing and penning a script of this magnitude. Cinematographer Frederick Elmes helps greatly in bringing this to life, at least in the pilot episode.
Coming from an acting background and transitioning into the shoes of a filmmaker isnât easy for anyone, and while there is clear room for improvement, I absolutely respect Weilâs attempt to meld his grandmotherâs stories with his favourite film inspirations. The series will no doubt remind you time and time again of Basterds, but trades Tarantinoâs razor-sharp focus for a broad approach. Rating: 6/10

From Batting To Bowling, The Famous Test Records From India Vs New Zealand Ties A Fan Must Know

The introduction of the ICC World Test Championship last August marked a historic chapter in the history of the longest format. The pinnacle tournament, aimed to revive the dying format, involves the top nine teams playing each other over two years, with the top two sides qualifying for the all-important final at Lord's in June, 2021.
While the advent of the unique competition revived the interest of fans in Test cricket, it further gives an opportunity to the playing nations to establish global domination in the game's oldest and, probably the most difficult, format. With the competition nearing a year, India currently occupies the top spot in the standings followed by Australia and England in the second and third position respectively.  Enjoying an unbeaten run in the three-Test series they've played so far, Virat Kohli-led India have amassed a staggering 260 points, 64 points clear of the second-placed Aussie brigade. The subcontinent giants will be eyeing another opportunity to extend their lead at the top as they get ready to take on New Zealand in the two-match Test series.  © Reuters In what promises to be a scintillating series, New Zealand, currently placed sixth in the standings, will be eager to accumulate all 120 points on offer to strengthen their position in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. But, that's not going to be easy. Given the history between India and New Zealand, Test matches have always been an exciting affair with memorable moments for both the teams.
With nine classy batsmen and eight lethal bowlers from top-20 rankings on display at the Basin Reserve, the 1st Test is expected to be as exciting as it can in Test cricket. While India go into the contest as favourites owing to their rampant form in the past 12 months, the Kiwis, despite their topsy-turvy run lately, are invincible at home.  The history too suggests the same. While India have won 21 out of the 57 Tests (26 draws, 10 losses) with a win/loss ratio of 2.1 against their Kiwi counterparts, their record in New Zealand is an area of big concern. Out of the 23 matches played in New Zealand, India have only won five games with a win/loss ratio of a mere 0.625.  © Reuters When it comes to batting, India clearly dominates the proceedings. With 1,659 runs to his name, Rahul Dravid is the leading run-scorer in the Test history shared by India and New Zealand. Sachin Tendulkar sits at the second spot with 1,595 runs followed by Brendon McCullum (1,224 runs), Graham Dowling (964 runs) and Bert Sutcliffe (885 runs) in the elite list.
Tendulkar is also the player who has played the most number of Test matches (24) between India and New Zealand. Dilip Sardesai's batting average of 120 remains the best in the Ind-NZ clashes in the longest format. McCullum, who slammed a brilliant 302, holds the record for the highest individual score ever registered by a batsman in Test matches played between the two countries. The record for most hundreds is held by Dravid (6 tons) and most fifties belongs to Mark Burgess (9 half-centuries).  Kohli, who has 735 runs against the Kiwis in the longest format, will have an opportunity, in the upcoming matches, to become only the third Indian to amass 1,000 runs against New Zealand in Test cricket. For New Zealand, Ross Taylor, playing is 100th Test at Basin Reserve and just 13 runs ahead of Kohli in the leading run-getters list, will fancy joining his former captain McCullum in the 1000-run club against India.  © Twitter/@BCCI In the bowling department, there is no surprise to see Sir Richard Hadlee, with 65 wickets, at the top of the leading wicket-takers' list in Test matches between India and New Zealand. He is followed by Indian spinners Bishan Singh Bedi (57 wickets), Erapalli Prasanna (55 wickets) and Anil Kumble (50) in the coveted list.
The record for the most matches played by a bowler in the Ind-NZ Test encounters is held by Daniel Vettori (15 games). India's Arshad Ayub holds the record for the best bowling average (minimum 6 innings and 12 wickets) of 13.7. The best bowling figures belong to India's Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan who rattled the Kiwis in a spell that saw him bagging eight wickets at the expense of 72 runs.  Going into the 1st Test tomorrow, while the records would mean little for the two teams, the Basin Reserve pitch, which appears to be greener than expected, can light the day up for seam bowlers and spell doom for the batsmen. With the track and also the conditions conducive for seam bowling, both the teams will be eager to bolster their line-ups with quicks at the expense of spinners.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip First Impressions: The Sexiest Smartphone In The World Right Now

The latest folding smartphone by Samsung is already making news online and we got a chance to spend some time with the smartphone. It costs Rs 1,09,999 in India and to be fair, we kind of expected it to be priced similar to the Galaxy Fold. While the Galaxy Z Flip uses a very different design from the Fold, it feels more practical and familiar as the classic flip phones from the late 2000s.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Being the second foldable phone by the company, it comes with a new type of folding glass that makes it feel unlike any other smartphone. The display does not feel like a plastic display like the Galaxy Fold and has a smaller body when folded, making it easy to carry it in your pocket. The foldable smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 855+ chipset and is coupled with 8GB of RAM. It comes with customisations that make the overall experience far more refined for a foldable phone. Gestures are fine-tuned keeping the body of the phone in mind and the user interface also has different experiences depending on how you fold the phone.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Speaking of folding and unfolding, the Galaxy Z Flip can be folded in three different angles i.e. 90-degrees, 120-degrees and 180-degrees which makes the display entirely flat. When completely unfolded, we are happy to tell you that the crease is barely noticeable which was a huge problem on the Galaxy Fold. In Z Flipâs case, it is far less noticeable and does not interfere with the viewing experience. The display on the Galaxy Z Fold when folded is 6.7-inches in size and has an aspect ratio of 21.9:9. The smartphone has a fullHD+ resolution which is more than enough for viewing video content on Netflix, YouTube and other streaming platforms.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The hinge system on the Galaxy Z Flip is also a more thought out and refined version of the hinge we saw on the Galaxy Fold. In comparison to the Motorola Razr (weâve used both), it feels more secure and sturdy as compared to Motorolaâs offering. The hinge also has bristles that eject dust and debris each time you fold or unfold the device.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla When folded, there is a 1.1-inch OLED display where all of your notifications from various apps are displayed. It doesnât show the content of your notifications nor can you use it to manage but it is a good way to know what notifications you have when the phone is unfolded. The small OLED display can also be used as a viewfinder for taking selfies. This is a very handy feature as you wonât need to unfold the smartphone each time to capture a selfie. In the camera department, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip features two 12MP cameras on the back and a punch hole 10MP selfie camera on the display. We didnât get enough time with the smartphone to do a comprehensive analysis of the camera quality, however you can expect it to work similarly to other Galaxy phones.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Other customisations also come in the form of software tweaks as the Z Flip runs OneUI 2.1. Some of these features take advantage of the foldable display, but are limited to certain apps at the moment. Samsung hopes that third-party developers might take advantage of the foldable screen and tweak their applications in the near future. When using the Z Flip with the screen opened at a 90-degree angle or better known as âFlex Modeâ, the user interface changes on the camera app and even YouTube. For example, when using the camera, the top half of the display converts into a viewfinder while the bottom half as all the controls for the camera app. It works very similarly to a clamshell makeup box where one would normally find a mirror, you would find the viewfinder to take pictures. You can even use the two separate screens for multitasking as you can launch two separate compatible apps.
© MensXP_Akshay Bhalla While we did not get enough time with the smartphone to give a final verdict, our initial impressions of the smartphone are clearly on the positive side. It feels great to fold/unfold the smartphone and when it comes to the design, it is definitely far superior from the Motorola Razr. When it comes to actually usability of the phone, the Galaxy Z Flip is probably more practical than any foldable phone out there, including Samsungâs Galaxy Fold. With powerful specifications and a folding phone that actually does the job as advertised, the Galaxy Z Flip proves foldable phones are going to be the next big thing in smartphones.

Ravi Shastri Relives His Six-Wicket Wellington Debut Against New Zealand From 39 Years Ago

Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team are set to take on Kane Williamsonâs New Zealand side in the two-match Test series which begins in Wellingtonâs Basin Reserve from Friday. Coincidently, the Head Coach of the Men in Blue, Ravi Shastri also made his debut on February 21 exactly 39 years ago. The former Indian all-rounder relived the day he got to wear the Team India kit for the very first time in an interview with the current batting mastermind Cheteshwar Pujara. The official Twitter handle of the BCCI shared a link to the interview: EXCLUSIVE: Ravi Shastri Takes Us Down Memory Lane @cheteshwar1 chats with Head Coach @RaviShastriOfc on his Test career journey which started in Wellington â by @RajalArora

Full video here ï¸ https://t.co/BDaz7vvB7s â BCCI (@BCCI) February 20, 2020"I would have never believed I would come to the same ground, same venue, playing against the same opposition," Shastri tells Pujara in the video.
"I went into the dressing room, it's the same dressing room. Nothing has changed. The Basin Reserve, I made my debut here 39 years ago. I wouldn't have believed it. To the day, 21st February, I'd be back after 39 years," he says. Pujara went on to ask Shastri about what went through his mind when he landed in New Zealand just one day ahead of the match and the coach replied, "I'll never forget that.I reached New Zealand at about 9:30 in the night. The late Bapu Nadkarni came to fetch me at the airport. The Indian team was at the high commission for their official do.â © Twitter "I went straight to the hotel and my roommate was Dilip (Vengsarkar) but there was no one in the room so I crashed out. Next morning, Sunny (Sunil Gavaskar) lost the toss, we were put in to field and there you were, you were playing the game and you were playing straight away," he says.
"I think I was nervous. I was definitely nervous as one would imagine anyone playing his first game, but I bowled tidily and I got one wicket - of Jeremy Coney - and that got my confidence going," he says. "Conditions were totally different from what you were used to playing in India or anywhere else in the world because there were blustering winds. It was a very very cold day. Thanks to Polly Umrigar's sweater. I didn't even have my own sweater," Shastri recalls. Shastri, who had not yet capitalised on his skills with the bat, only managed to make 22 runs but did not fail to impress with the ball as he became one of Indiaâs leading wicket takers with six scalps under his belt and only second to Kapil Dev who had seven wickets. Sadly, India went on to lose the match by 62 runs.

BCCI's Photo Tweet Of The Wellington Pitch Has Cricket Fans Convinced India Is Losing First Test

The Indian cricket team began their much-anticipated tour of New Zealand on a positive note, whitewashing their opponents 5-0 in the historic T20I triumph. But, the New Zealand brigade bounced back to whitewash their counterparts 3-0 on the back of a spirited performance in the ODI series. With the spoils of the rigorous tour evenly shared, it all boils down to the two-match Test series as both India and New Zealand seek a final flourish to end the proceedings on a high. With noticeable changes in their lineup, the two cricketing giants will be eager to outsmart one another when they take the field in the 1st Test at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on 21st February. A day out of the 1st Test, this is what the pitch at Basin Reserve looks like.

Inviting the views of cricket fans, the BCCI tweeted: "A day out of the 1st Test, this is what the pitch at Basin Reserve looks like. Thoughts?"
While the Wellington pitch is known to aid seamers with enough grass to trouble the batsmen, it is reported that it would not incur as much wear and tear as other pitches do in Test matches. Ananya Panday needs no introduction and neither does her 'struggle', ever since actor Siddhant Chaturvedi shut her down with one line. While Ananya might be trying hard to forget that incident, looks like people on social media will not let her forget it anytime soon. People still continue to remind her of her 'struggle' in Bollywood no matter what she does.  It's probably why people are talking about that more than the fact she has landed a movie with the nation's heartthrob, Vijay Deverakonda. FYI this movie will also mark the debut of Vijay in Bollywood.

UP Man Complains About Traffic, Cops Make Him Manage The Jam Himself & Its Painfully Funny

If youâre also one of those people whose definition of wanderlust is âcommuting to the office every day, we strongly empathize with you.  Almost everyone can relate to the pain of getting stuck in crazy traffic jams often, and wondering what they did wrong to be in such a position.  Recently, a man from UP rushed to the local cops to complain about getting stuck in traffic for hours in Ferozabad.  © BCCL Little did he know about the torture that fate had in store for him, as he was designated to become the âtraffic volunteerâ for two hours.
According to IANS, SP Sachindra Patel asked Sonu Chauhan (complainant) to manage traffic on the same road for which he was complaining.   He was made to wear a traffic safety vest along with a helmet and went in an SUV along with a few other policemen and managed traffic at the Subash intersection in Ferozabad.   © BCCL We all know how inevitable jams are and no commuter fears anything more than a maddening traffic jam that can suck your soul out.
Sonu went on to issue challans to vehicles for wrong parking and driving on the wrong side of the road and whatnot. As crazy as this might sound, this actually happened.  © BCCL Turns out, after 'managing' the traffic himself for a span of two hours, Sonu is now a changed man.
âThe experiment has made me understand the problems of traffic constables and the problem that arises when we, members of the public, flout rules. If one vehicle takes a wrong turn, the entire system gets thrown out of gear. I have definitely become a more responsible citizen after this experiment,â he said.
Goes without saying that Sonu's ordeal garnered his a lot of attention on social media:

Too good â Gaurav (@Gaurav_gwl) February 19, 2020 Sonu collected a total of Rs 1600 in cash as fines and the remaining amount will be paid at the traffic police office by the offenders themselves.
© BCCL Ramdutt Sharma, who accompanied Sonu to the experiment said, âWe will continue with this experiment and ensure better community participation in improving the traffic situation. We followed Sonuâs commands for two hours and effectively regulated traffic flow and managed to decongest the road.â  So, the next time youâre stuck in traffic and donât feel like going to college or office, you know where to go!

This man has our approval on his sartorial sensibilities as it's not just edgy but it encourages us to dress up like him. We have to give credits to Isha Bhansali, his stylist, who has time and again served him right with flawless ensembles that help us build our wardrobes as well.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Is Coming To India Very Soon & We Finally Know How Much It'll Cost Here

Last week, Samsung confirmed the pricing and availability of its Galaxy S20 series in India without giving even a hint about the Galaxy Z Flip. But now, the company has finally confirmed that its new folding phone is indeed coming to India. That's right, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is officially coming to India and you'll be able to buy one starting Feb 26. The Galaxy Z Flip, for those of you who don't know, is Samsung's new foldable phone. It's the clamshell phone that we've been waiting for. It's designed to look like a full phone when unfolded, unlike the Galaxy Fold which turns into a tablet kind of form factor. The Galaxy Z Flip sports a 6.7-inch OLED display that folds and shrinks into a much smaller square. It also sports a smaller 1.1-inch OLED cover display that can be used to glance at things like time, notifications and more when the device is closed. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC under the hood, which makes it a proper flagship device, unlike the Moto Razr which is powered by slightly low-powered internals. The Galaxy Z Flip also comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. As for the optics, the Galaxy Z Flip sports a dual-camera setup at the back which includes a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 12MP wide-angle camera. On the front, there's a 10MP selfie shooter. In case you don't know, Samsung is using a new kind of glass material called "Ultra Thin Glass" (UTG), so it's not a plastic display. Samsung also says the hinge has been made to withstand over 200,000 folds and it also prevents dust and other foreign particles from getting into the phone through it. We'll obviously be testing the hinge when we get our hands on the phone for review. Pricing & Availability The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will be available in India for Rs 1,09,999. That makes the Galaxy Z Flip comparatively cheaper than the Galaxy Fold that came out last year here in the country. In case you're ready to give in to the foldable future, then you can pre-book your unit now and get it delivered to you starting February 26. The consumers buying the Galaxy Z Flip will also get accidental damage coverage, which includes one-time screen protection and a 24X7 Dedicated Call Center Support. You'll also get a 4 month free YouTube Premium subscription, which is pretty cool. So there's a lot going for the Galaxy Z Flip and it looks like a really good offer.

Steven Spielbergs Daughter Wants To Pursue Porn Career & Her Parents Are Said To Be Intrigued

Mikaela Spielberg (23), daughter of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg (73) and actress Kate Capshaw (66) has recently shed light on her personal online project - opening an account on PornHub, where she uploaded and garnered a fan following for her solo erotic videos.
© Instagram While certainly unusual, Mikaelaâs decision to pursue porn is one that sheâs firmly taken the reins of. The Nashville, Tennessee resident also announced to the US Sun that she aims to obtain a state stripperâs license, and follow up with a career in exotic dancing - a surprisingly arduous process that involves multiple background validations, fingerprint scans and a two-week checking process - all to legally give someone a private, clothed dance.
On Mikaelaâs part, the decision comes after a long battle with depression and alcoholism - she claims that her earlier years in boarding school were marred by eating disorders that took a toll on her psyche and body. The self-proclaimed âsexual creatureâ told the outlet, as she grew more confident in adulthood, she âgot really tired of not being able to capitalize on my body and, frankly, I got really tired of being told to hate my body.â
Despite the expected correlation, she insists that her parentsâ fame had nothing to do with her struggle. âItâs not my parentsâ fault,â says Mikaela, who was adopted by Steven and Kate as a baby. âThey couldnât have known.â
âAnd I also just got tired of working day to day in a way that wasnât satisfying my soul,â she tells the Sun. âI feel like doing this kind of work, Iâm able to âsatisfyâ other people, but that feels good because itâs not in a way that makes me feel violated.â
While she previously performed on PornHub under the username âSugar Starâ, sheâs currently taken her content down as she awaits a permit approval from Tennesseeâs âSexually Oriented Business Licensing Boardâ. In the meantime, Mikaela continues to post on Instagram under @vandal_princess, and is currently working on setting up a private paid content portal on her âOnlyFansâ page.
© Instagram So far, Steven Spielberg hasnât made any public comment. Mikaela says that her parents seemed âintriguedâ, and not upset.
âI actually think that once they see how far Iâve come from the bottom I was at a year and a half ago,â she said, referring to previous issues with alcoholism, âtheyâre going to look at this and go, âWow, we actually raised a really self-assured young lady,ââ.
âThis isnât like an âend of the roadâ or âIâve hit bottomâ choice. This is a positive, empowering choice. I realized there is no shame in having a fascination with this industry and wanting to do something that is safe, sane, consensual.â
Still, the fledgling adult entertainer vows she wonât have sex on camera with anyone else, out of respect for her fiancé, star darts player, Chuck Pankow (47).

College Kids More Open About Homosexuality Now, Ayushmann On Indian Society & His Gay Character

Whenever Ayushmann Khurrana is part of a project, in your head, you are sure that something progressive and meaningful is coming your way. In recent times, the actor has delivered some path-breaking performances that even got him a National Award. View this post on InstagramThank you for the #Andhadhun love #NationalAwardA post shared by (@ayushmannk) If you have been following the actor closely, you would have an idea that his endeavour is to bring to life the âcommon imperfect man who is a hero in his lifeâ (as he mentioned in his previous interviews).
For the actor, the more challenging the character is, the more thrilled and excited he is being part of the movie. Every movie that Ayushmann chooses has a stand and his upcoming film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is no different as it portrays homosexuality which continues to be a major taboo in India. View this post on InstagramTrain waala pyaar. 𧡠Is pyaar ke liye ab hindustan ko train karenge. ð¤ jeetega pyaar seh parivaar. This Friday. 21st Feb.A post shared by (@ayushmannk) After getting to interact with Jitendra Kumar and Gajraj Rao, I got the opportunity for a quick tête-à-tête with Ayushmann who was in the capital city recently.
I couldnât help but appreciate him for the progressive stance of his movies before moving on to talking about how homosexuality has been evolving in both, cinema and in reality and what his take was on this entire evolution of dialogue and eventual detachment of taboo. © T-Series âThe evolution of Bollywood will only come with the evolution of society. Bollywood generally mirrors society and most of the time, it's up to the filmmaker to either take a progressive or a regressive stance,â he explained. âOf course, I have been associated with progressive sorts of cinema and this is one of its kind.â
He went on to add, âWe proudly call it the first commercial movie based on homosexuality. But at the same time, we have to tread a line so that we can be more accessible to the masses, and especially the regressive audience. It's not an easy film, it's tricky because it's a movie based on a family that eventually finds out their son is a homosexual.â © T-Series Some online reports which had recently surfaced suggested that the makers were initially looking for homosexual actors for Jitendraâs character in the movie which eventually didnât happen. I asked him if this endeavour of his would in some way help Indian men come out and accept their real selves
âDefinitely, it would,â he said with a strong sense of reassurance. âYou know, more than anything it was their own selfish professional reasons because if they came out as homosexuals, they weren't sure people and media would accept them in a heterosexual character. They were thinking from the professional aspect, otherwise they are out in the open but not with the masses,â he elaborated. Shedding some more light on fair representation of the LGBTQ community in cinema, he added, âIt might be possible that their families would know about it, but they were not okay with coming out in front of the media. We had thought we would get a fair representation for the LGBTQ community but unfortunately, it didn't happen.â View this post on InstagramWhat does this family have to say about our jodi? -"Neigh". Trailer out at 1.33 pm! #ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan ð¬ â¥ï¸ @smzsofficial @gajrajrao @neena_gupta @Jitendrak1 @manurishichadha @sunita_rajwar @maanvigagroo @pankhuri313 @neerajsingh5852 Written and directed by @HiteshKewalya @aanandlrai @cypplofficial @bhushankumar @tseries.official @tseriesfilmsA post shared by (@ayushmannk) Speaking about peopleâs struggles in accepting homosexuality, Ayushmann took me back in time, âSo, we had a gay club in the college as I was from the all-boys set up. It was the time I wasn't open to that idea because I come from a small city and I remember, people used to make fun of them.â
But he says, the picture is slowly changing, âAnd now if I go back to my college, things have changed and the club still exists. People now respect them and there's no conflict between homosexuals and heterosexuals. There is a parity but it wasn't the case 15 years back. We have evolved as a society.â View this post on InstagramBhaagte Bhagate aa rahe hain hum, #ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan ð¬ - Releasing on 21st FEB 2020 ⬠@cypplOfficial @aanandlrai @TSeries.official @BhushanKumar @hiteshkewalya @gajrajrao @neena_gupta @jitendrak1 @manurishichadha @sunita_rajwar @maanvigagroo @pankhuri313 #NeerajSingh @smzsofficialA post shared by (@ayushmannk) Playing a homosexual character on the screen can attract a wide spectrum of reactions from both the audiences and the family. Out of sheer curiosity, I wanted to know how Tahira reacted when she got to know about him playing a homosexual on the big screens.
With a smile on his face, Ayushmann told me, âShe is also progressive in nature and she was happy to find out that I am doing such a character. She is actually proud of me and the kind of roles I choose to do.â View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@ayushmannk) I went on to citing my interaction with Gajraj Rao who told me that Ayushmann hasnât changed even a single bit even after having a successful run in his career. âI have seen failures at the beginning of my career and that has made me more balanced now. It gave me a perspective about life that nothing is permanent in life,â said Ayushmann.
âI just take life like as it's transitory. It's important to have balance in both professional and personal life. You shouldn't take success seriously,â he opened up on how he manages to not let success get into his head and how he strikes a balance. Reflecting on his journey till now, he said, âIt's been an exciting journey and it's still going on with a lot of learning in between. I have always said that success is a very lousy teacher, failures are the best philosophers. It wasn't an overnight journey as I have done TV, movies and then, movies not working. It's a gradual progression which is the best part.â View this post on InstagramBest actor (critics) for #Article15 and #Bala Thank you @anubhavsinhaa sir and @amarkaushik respectively. #StarScreenAwards #gratitudeA post shared by (@ayushmannk) Before we ended our conversation, I said there are many men who are now taking him as an inspiration that even post-marriage if they want to make a career in acting, they can easily try their hands on it.
âI think we have come a long way where your relationship status doesn't really matter when it comes to playing a character on the screen or if it comes to your desirability quotient,â he said on how men can easily work after marriage. âFor newer generations, there's no dearth of great actors in the country. It's all about intelligence and talent,â Ayushmann added before signing off. MensXP wishes the actor all the best for Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and we are sure that with this positive attitude, Ayushmann is going to be even more successful than he is right now.

Indians To Get The Lowest Salary Hike In A Decade & Now We're Not Looking Forward To Appraisals

The most stressful, yet highly-rewarding - well, sometimes - time of the year is almost here, however, looks like no one should be looking forward to it this time.  Appraisal season is almost upon us and if a survey is to be believed, instead of money, all we are about to get is a big fat dose of disappointment.
According to Aon Salary Increase Survey 2020, Indian employees will see the lowest salary hike in a decade. Apparently, the average salary hike will be about 9.1%.  Wow, I especially feel bad for all the people who'll be getting the below-average percentage, the 'getting paid in peanuts' joke is literally coming true.
Just look at that graph, isn't this the saddest thing ever? I wish it was 2007, tbh. All employers, are you listening? Let's have a throwback and actually follow the 2007 percentage, yea? Full disclosure, just like every survey, this is, obviously, not accurate. On a positive note, two out of five participating companies in the survey, project a double-digit increase in anticipation of a positive economic outlook.
All I can say is that, it seems like the appraisal season is going to be interesting. A suggestion for our employers - let's work to bring up the percentage, give us a great appraisal. It's for the economy!
Umm.
just 9% hike quit and go #job hunting #india https://t.co/YVVgPKEe5d â naashonomics (@naashonomics) February 20, 2020People are already stressed out.
Recent news showed pvt Sector employees got an avg hike in salary of only 9.6%, lowest in a decade. And govt Sector employees get an avg of 3 monthly increase in the DA. How will a pvt Sector employee survive. Are they not humans. @narendramodi ji... â CA Nitin Nayak ð®ð³ (@Nitnay111) February 19, 2020People are also blaming the government, of course.
Employees likely to get lowest salary hike in a decade at 9.1%

Not only did 3.64 crore people become unemployed, even the employed are suffering financially thanks to the economic blunders of the BJP govt, especially at a time of record inflation!https://t.co/QP2vsJ4WW8 â Shama Mohamed (@drshamamohd) February 19, 2020

5 Convincing Conspiracy Theories On Killer Virus Outbreaks That Have Left Us Scratching Our Heads

The human mind works in the most amazing ways. It is so unpredictable in its wiring and synapses, we want nothing more than to credit it for all the âgoodâ that our kind has experienced on the planet. But I feel our mindâs tendency to poke around until our curious brain cells have been satisfied, is its greatest capability. Of course besides furnishing mind-boggling, truly-convincing but so-damn-unnerving conspiracy theories that will unsettle the nerd inside us. With Coronavirus claiming its 2000+ victim recently, crazy conspiracy theories are pouring in thick and heavy, so letâs dive right into the top 6 conspiracy theories around recent virus infection outbreaks around the world:  1. Novel Coronavirus © Reuters Social media was abuzz with recent posts on Twitter which claimed that the reason why Wuhan became the epicentre of the deadly epidemic is because this is a case of Chinese manufacturing of a âbio-weapon gone wrong. It is also suggested that it was meant to target the rival powers of the world.
I told you all so. The #coronavirus is a #Wuhan-made #bioweapon that was either released intentionally or accidentally. Either way, this is a MAJOR SCANDAL. #China needs to be held accountable. https://t.co/WKLSHBUQMh â ðºð¸ Cory Groshek ðºð¸ (@CoryGroshek) February 3, 2020Alternatively, others have claimed that the outbreak was orchestrated by the United States to inhibit Chinaâs momentous growth and bring down its economy. But the most amazing of them all is the theory which suggests that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation planned the outbreak as a population control measure.
Bill Gates & World Economic Forum Ran Coronavirus Outbreak Simulation Just 6 Weeks Before the Real Outbreak https://t.co/BXcMSXCcKg Gates is an open proponent of Global Depopulation. #BioWeapon #norovirus #wuhan #BillGates pic.twitter.com/3uT6FezQm2 â Norsu2 ðºð¸ (@Norsu2) February 6, 2020
2. SARS © Reuters Back in 2003, when the SARS outbreak in China was at its peak, Russian scientist Sergei Kolesnikov claimed that SARS coronavirus was a mix of measles and mumps, and thus, the virus had to have been created in a lab. However, independent labs rejected the theory mixing two paramyxoviruses cannot create a coronavirus.
To add to the above claim, in the same year a Chinese lawyer and a volunteer in a 1998 Chinese-American medical cooperation program, named Tong Zeng claimed in his book titled The Last Defense Line: Concerns About the Loss of Chinese Genes that SARS could be a US-created bio-weapon meant to harm China.  Tong revealed how American research groups had secured close to 5000 samples of blood, DNA and specimens of mainland Chinese twins in the 1990s. He suggested that the samples which were sent to America were now being used as bio-weapons.  What really gave a boost to this claim was that the samples had been taken from all the 22 Chinese provinces which were hit by SARS in 2003.  3. AIDS © Facebook In a study conducted by Laura Bogart of RAND Corporation and Sheryl Thorburn of Oregon State University, it was found that most African Americans believed AIDS was created in the government laboratories to keep a check on the black population, and even though they knew of the cure, the poor were denied it.
In his book Behold a Pale Horse Milton William Cooper also suggested that AIDS was a product of a government-CIA conspiracy to limit the black, Hispanic, and homosexual population in the country. To this day, many believe that the CIA intentionally infected thousands of African Americans with AIDS under the guise of hepatitis vaccinations. 4. Ebola © Reuters The biggest conspiracy theory that gave health workers sleepless nights was the claim that the outbreak was propagated, and a big hoax. This even led to the murder of eight relief workers in Guinea which was a result of distrust between villagers and the government, who believed Ebola âis nothing more than an invention of white people to kill black people.â
An Al Jazeera report in 2014 also claimed that âmany Guineans say local and foreign healthcare workers⦠[invented Ebola] as a means of luring Africans to clinics to harvest their blood and organs.â The belief found a strong footing because Ebola victims were asked to be buried instead of doing it the traditional way. 5. Zika Virus © Reuters A survey conducted by the University of Pennsylvaniaâs Annenberg Public Policy Center had found that a third of the US population believed that genetically modified mosquitoes caused the spread of Zika. It all started with a Reddit post âGenetically modified mosquitoes released in Brazil in 2015 linked to the current Zika epidemic?â which suggested that Oxitec, a British company that modifies mosquitoes might have created the epidemic because many cases of microcephaly had been reported from around Juazeiro in Brazil, where Oxitec introduced modified mosquitoes in 2012.
Additionally, other theories also implied at the participation of the Bill Gates Foundation as a cause since the Foundation had given away $19.7 million for a project to develop and test GM mosquitoes. 6. Swine Flu © Reuters Many conspiracy theorists and their supporters have come to believe that swine flu got to such a dangerous stage alarm because of the pressure from drug companies who wanted to make a profit from the outbreak of swine flu. Even the WHO was accused of being part of a worldwide conspiracy wherein they âcreated a pandemic' that didn't really exist just in order to help the drug companies.

Land Rover Defenders Insane Stunts In No Time To Die Has A Lot Of Lessons For Rohit Shetty

Pioneering off-road setups, absolute indestructibility and the ability to never stall, ever - thereâs a lot of reasons to pick a Land Rover - especially if you happen to be a movie chase-scene villain.
This year marks the release of No Time To Die in April - Daniel Craigâs last romp as the besuited, suave and very, very secret⦠agent, James Bond. The filmâs trailer puts a firm emphasis on high-stakes chase scenes - opening up with some sick shots of Bond behind the wheel of the classic Aston Martin DB5.
Neat, huh? Things were taken up a notch when we got a peek at this incredible stunt showcase from Land Rover - highlighting the best of the new Defender 110 X platformâs ruggedness, stability and performance. They really should start testing vehicles on action film sets. The Defender 110 is a mid-wheelbase sized model that clearly seems capable of going through anything thrown at it - from swampland to rivers, hill climbs and pretty insane jumps - weâre seriously left wondering what wonder-stuff the suspension is made of. The chase sequence, which should be one of the highlights in the movie was led by stunt coordinator, Lee Morrison working alongside Oscar winner and special effects, action vehicles supervisor Chris Corbould. A total of 10 Defenders were used in the making of the movie, including the seventh Defender built carrying the '007' VIN number.
Also featured in the video are some Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC motorcycles - another british motoring icon thatâs been ripping up off-road tracks the world over.
© Triumph/Land Rover The Defender 110 was spotted in India as well, early this January, in the form of a camouflaged test mule.
© Motorbeam Under the hood, Land Rover will be offering the car with a variety of engines with two power ranges; a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 300PS of power and a 3.0-litre in-line six with a supercharger and 48V mild-hybrid tech that puts out 404PS of max power - nothing to laugh at. Meanwhile, the diesel variant Ingenium D200 2.0-litre diesel engine makes 200PS, while the D240 is tuned to produce 240 PS of peak power.
All of this comes mated to LRâs timeless 4x4 system, complete with one of the most sophisticated off road terrain-management systems you can buy. Speaking of buying, the Defender 110 is expected to cost somewhere between 80-95 lakh (ex-showroom).

These Truly Wireless Earbuds Also Double Up As A Powerbank To Charge Your Phone

There are a ton of truly wireless earbuds available out there in the market. We've reviewed a lot of them here at MensXP, including both the budget as well as expensive ones. But I recently stumbled upon something that caught my attention. I am talking about the HiFuture TidyBuds Pro wireless earbuds. Yes, it looks like any other pair of truly wireless earbuds, but this one has a nifty feature up its sleeves. The charging case which is used to charge the buds can be used as a power bank to charge your phone as well. Isn't that cool? While most truly wireless earbuds struggle to keep the buds charged at all times, these earbuds' charging case can charge other devices as well. Now that's very interesting so I decided to check it out and see if they're worth the price.  Here's my full review of the HiFuture Tidybuds Pro - Design & Build Quality © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer In its flesh, the TidyBuds Pro looks just like any other pair of truly wireless earbuds in the market. The earbuds are fairly small and lightweight. They're not too heavy so I'd say they're very comfortable to wear as well. Both the buds have a touch surface with which you can interact with the buds and do things like play or pause music, skip track, and more. The earbuds are made out of plastic and honestly, they don't feel super-premium. But I like how they fit my ears well. They feel secure in place and won't budge even if I am, say, running or doing some sort of exercise. You get extra ear tips inside the box, so you can choose the one that fits your ear size. © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer As for the charging case, there's no denying that it's massive. That's probably my only complaint because you can't put it into your pockets. It has to go inside a bag. But I like how they've used a rubberized material for the construction. It gives it a good grip to hold and makes it look fairly premium too. The highlight feature of the charging case, however, is the fact that it comes with a 3,000 mAh battery inside. That's not normal for a pair of truly wireless earbuds. I also like the fact that the charging case uses a USB Type C port to charge. The same cable can be used to reverse charge other devices with a USB Type C port or you can always use other cables to charge them. This came in really handy to me while I was testing these out while reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite. Audio Quality © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer Yes, the reverse charging feature is cool and all, but ultimately these are a pair of truly wireless earbuds. So how's the audio quality? Well, to my surprise, they're pretty good. The TidyBuds Pro comes with a dynamic 6mm graphene driver and it outputs decent bass and high-mids. The audio quality is also very clear with crisp details. I am happy to report that the vocals are crisp and continue to remain that way even at peak volumes. So regardless of what you like to listen to, be it RnB, pop music or hard rock, the TidyBuds Pro will deliver a very good experience. In comparison, I'd say the TidyBuds Pro sounds louder than my AirPods (1st gen), but the sound does leak out so you might want to keep the volume low if you don't want others hearing what you're listening to. Battery Life © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer The battery life, as I mentioned, is one of the highlights of these earbuds. The buds themselves have a 75mAh battery inside with which they promise to deliver an 8-hour battery life. I'd say you'd get about 6 hours max on a single charge, which is still not that bad by any means. And you know what? That's nothing to worry about because you literally have a 3,000 mAh battery waiting to charge the buds. The charging case has two ports out of which one can be used to charge the case itself whereas the other can be used to charge other devices and take advantage of that reverse charging feature. The company claims that the charging case can give you up to 100 hours of listening time, which is absolutely insane. © MensXP/ Karthik Iyer Well, I'd be lying if I said I managed to kill the battery inside the charging case, like, ever. I only use earbuds to listen to music when I am commuting to work, and that's barely like an hour every day. So I'd say I was able to use the buds without charging the case for more than two weeks, which is just awesome! As I mentioned, you can also use it to charge other devices like smartphones and accessories. But I'd say it's best if you use it to charge some other device instead of a smartphone because the output is very low and it would take forever to charge it. But it's nice to have it as a backup in case you need it. The Final Say The HiFuture TidyBuds Pro is available to purchase for Rs. 4,499 on Amazon. For that price, you're getting a good sounding pair of earbuds with exceptional battery life. Honestly, those are the only two things to look for primarily when it comes to buying a good pair of truly wireless earbuds. Yes, there are some trade offs like the massive size of the charging case and okay-ish build quality. But those are not deal-breakers in my opinion and I really enjoyed using this product.  In case you're looking for other options then we suggest you check out the 1More Stylish TWS or even the Realme Buds Air, which are both around the same price range as this one. However, none of them have an impressive 3,000 mAh, so take your pick.

MS Dhoni Listening To Old Hindi Songs In Mens Washroom Is What Legends Do On Their Day Offs

As Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team are busy contemplating on ways to defeat Kane Williamson and the New Zealand cricket team in the two-match Test series after facing a whitewash in the ODI series in 22 years, there is another man, who has the nation on its toes, especially when it comes to his future with the squad. Former Indian captain and wicket-keeper batsman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made no announcements about his plans as an international cricketer, but is clearly having the time of his life spending some quality time with his ex-teammates, Parthiv Patel and Piyush Chawla. In a recent video shared by Viral Bhayani from his Instagram account, the 2011 World Cup winning captain can be seen listening to some old Hindi songs in a menâs washroom with some of his close friends, including former international cricketers Parthiv Patel and Piyush Chawla. First, it was his decision to go on a two-month sabbatical to fulfil his duty as a part of the Indian Army, then he further extended it till November. Then in the final week of November, Dhoni said âJanuary tak mat poocho (don't ask me till January),â thereby further extending his off days by two more months. We are halfway through February and still no MS Dhoni. "Okay bye, Don't ask me till January"

This is how Dhoni responded when reporter questioned about his future plans at yesterday's event. ï¸ pic.twitter.com/XT1uB8D7Tt â DHONIsmâ¢ ï¸ (@DHONIism) November 28, 2019While there is no update on Dhoniâs position in the international squad, he made it very clear that he will be returning to Chennai Super Kings for the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League and add to his efforts making it the most successful franchise in the history of the league. Having lost to Rohit Sharmaâs Mumbai Indians in the finals last year, this season has to be all about redemption for âThalaâ.
However, even before the season begins, Dhoni can be seen headlining another major event as he will be joining forces with Virat Kohli and Sharma to participate in the IPL All-Star Game which is scheduled to take place on March 24.

Diego Maradona's Controversial Video Has Everyone Convinced He Did Coke During A Live Match

Arguably one of the greatest footballers of all time, Diego Maradona's story is as frustrating as it is enthralling. As much praise and success he achieved through his footballing talent, Maradona's contrasting sides, equally, garnered criticism and brought disrepute to his legacy.  His success and controversy always walked hand-in-hand. Maradona's unprecedented glory has always found the controversial elements lurking just around the corner. Just when you thought that it couldn't get any better, the darker and more controversial side of Maradona ensures it gets worse.  © Reuters Maradona's is the rarest of the rare stories where a footballer is not only the hero, but also the villain of his own script. And, the billions who followed Maradona would agree that the football legend became many men over the years: hero, villain, rape accused, drug addict and many other things.
His cocaine addiction traces back to 1982 and Maradona became a regular user of the substance during his stint with Napoli. In 1991, he was even handed a 15-month ban for testing positive for cocaine after a Serie A match with Napoli. It was also the same year when he was charged with cocaine use and possession in Argentina and held in jail for a day.  the technical staff covering Maradona from the cameras while he gets a small bag of coke. 25 Yrs Ago Homosexuality Was Alien: Gajraj Rao Gets Candid About 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan'

For some people, it was luck that favoured their journeys in Bollywood, but for Gajraj Rao it was years of good content and hard work that paved his way to success.  Gajraj, eyeing cinema as his passion, joined the theatre scene in the capital city to start with. But a career in theatre is not really a high-paying one, ergo the actor did various odd jobs. He was a freelance writer at the Navbharat Times and Dainik Hindustan and he even dabbled in the garment export industry for some time.  View this post on InstagramThank you @hiteshmulani for the lovely clicks ... #portraits #photography #varanasidiariesA post shared by (@gajrajrao)Finally, after trying several things for survival, he joined the advertising sector and eventually, he realized it was his true calling. And then, we saw him conquering the digital space with TVF.   Things completely changed for Gajraj when he was appreciated for his performance as the romantic middle-aged man who grapples with parenthood in his 50s in Badhaai Ho. View this post on Instagram#Repost @neena_gupta with @get_repost ã»ã»ã» #Repost @badhaaihofilm with @get_repost ã»ã»ã» Mr. and Mrs. Kaushik, giving us major #couplegoals. ð Can they be any more perfect? ⥠#BadhaaiHo To watch this adorable couple, click the link in the bio. @sanyamalhotra_ @gajrajrao @neena_gupta @iamitrsharma @jungleepictures @pictureschromeA post shared by (@gajrajrao)Currently, he is awaiting the release of his upcoming movie, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.  The entire SMZS team had travelled to the capital city for the movie promotions where I got a chance to sit and converse with him, something I was looking forward to, as I had caught up with him during the Badhaai Ho promotions as well. It was indeed gratifying to know that he remembered me from our last interaction which was around 2 years back.
Before we started discussing Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and homosexuality being a taboo subject in our society, I asked him about the transition that happened in his life considering he had, initially, made a name in the digital space.
Taking me back in time, Rao said, âSo, I used to direct ad films and there you had lavish sets, and suddenly we are shooting in small sets. I see them shooting in ek chotta sa cabin and I was like, 'phas gaya mamla'. I was like, 'I won't do it again' and when people told me that it will be something different, I agreed to do the sketches I liked. Back then, digital didn't have money and the first sketch with TVF was called TWITTER. Just after 10 days of its release, I was at a book shop in Juhu and some students came up to me and asked, 'Are you the same guy from YouTube?', and they started to ask for photos. Then, I realized the power of digital cinema and it went viral.â  Â© TVF He went on to add, âFor me, it was the turning point and I gained trust in the digital cinema. Jab acha kaam ho raha hota hai toh set up matter nahi karta and this was the relationship I had with TVF. I keep doing their sketches on and off.â
So, after experiencing the digital set up, it was Badhaai Ho that brought him into the spotlight and the audience started relating to his characters. Soon enough he is now making a comeback with Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and I was curious to know if he feels that this Aanand L Rai movie would fare as well as the previous one.    On this, he said, âHopefully, it will do the same as Badhaai Ho did. The trailer has got a positive reaction and people love it already. My team and I are very excited and happy about this venture.â
Interestingly, in both Badhaai Ho and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, we get to see him share the screen space with Ayushmann. Out of curiosity, I asked him about how their relationship has evolved in the last few years.
âJahan par Badhaai Ho ka journey ended, wahan se our relationship has gone a notch higher. Within one year, Ayushmann has done well with Bala and Article 15 and his journey actually becomes a learning experience for you. I actually learnt how he is dealing with adulation, success but interestingly, his temperament hasn't changed in these two years,â Rao said.  © Junglee Pictures Praising Ayushmann, he went on to say, âHe is still the same which is indeed very praiseworthy. Even after delivering back-to-back hits, he has been keeping a balance and I am learning this skill from him. He is grounded and he keeps himself aware of the whole unit.â
He even shared a particular incident that happened on the sets while they were shooting in Banaras, which spoke volumes about Ayushmannâs character.
âOne of our crew members' sister was getting married while we were shooting in Banaras, and we thought of giving a gift. So, we all collected a certain amount to give it to him and when Ayushmann got to know about it, he said he wants to contribute and I was impressed by the fact that he added the equal sum of money that we all collected by himself. He is actually a good human being and I think, he is able to do all these hatke films because of his generosity,â said Gajraj.  © T-Series Further, into the conversation, I conveyed to him how the audience is mostly in agreement with the fact that if Ayushmann, Neena Gupta and he are coming together on the big screen, it is a given that something great is in store.
On this, he said, âFor pulling audiences to the screens, you need a bankable actor like Ayushmann Khurrana. You won't believe what happened a few days back. So, I was attending a marriage in a hotel so wahan ke durbaan ne bola sir ek photo lena hai and then, I told him ek movie aa raha hai and he knew about Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. He went to say ki aap ho, Khurrana sahab hai aur Neena ji hai toh sab set hai. It was like a compliment for me. People do take our jodi positively.â  View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@gajrajrao)Soon enough our conversation changed its pace from its lighter note and veered into the core concept of SMZS. Badhaai Ho, in a way, had also addressed something that most people arenât very comfortable with. And now, with Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Gajraj is yet again talking about a controversial matter.  âSo, Badhaai Ho had a bit of awkwardness wherein the lead couple is conceiving after they have their 50s but it wasn't really taboo. Here, homosexuality is a big taboo in the society and people even land up saying ki biraadri mein naak kat jayegi. With Badhaai Ho, this wasn't the case,â said Gajraj.
He went to explain, âIn this movie, when the parents get to know that their son wants to get married to his male friend, they are, in a way, hit by a cyclone and their concern is how would the society perceive it and izzat pe baat aayegi. I am lucky that I have been part of movies which talk about such subjects. I am also grateful to Aanand L Rai and Bhushan Kumar for thinking that I am apt for this movie and I want to keep doing such interesting roles. If I would have made this movie, people wouldn't have come to the theatres.â
Now, the inquisitive bit in me wanted to know how comfortable Rao was with the concept of homosexuality himself and not his character.
Putting his stance, he told me, âYou can put it that way when this was discussed with me around 25 years ago, was an alien concept and I saw it through cinema. Back then, the projection was shown in a cheap way like buffoonery for that matter. They will make the character look way too feminine and your mindset becomes like this and you start thinking ki agar koi same-sex relationship mein hoga toh woh aisa hi hoga.â
He continued, âWhen I used to assist in a production house, I met an intern there and after a few days of working with him, I got to know that he has a boyfriend. And then I realized that he is very much...normal. After knowing him for months, I came to one more realization that his 'disorder', as people say, is only restricted to the cinema and in reality, homosexuals are very much like everyone else. He told me that people used to treat homosexuality as a criminal offense and that's why koi khul kar baat nahi karta.â  View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@gajrajrao) With this, the whole conversation moved to how Bollywood has evolved in terms of showcasing homosexuality on the big screens. I gave him an example of the show called Made In Heaven where Vikrant Massey is shown as a homosexual and he was quite bold in terms of portraying that on the screens.
With Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, the filmmakers are discussing homosexuality on a larger scale and itâs no more restricted to the parallel or artsy cinema.
On this, he said, âNot just that, we also had Sonam Kapoor's movie Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga which was based on the very same subject. The movie didn't work that well but I really liked the intentions behind making that film. They haven't scandalized it and I really liked it. I also feel like millenials, for that matter, are very accommodating and they are very aware. India is a young country and when your audience is understanding, it becomes easier for the filmmakers to make projects on such taboos. Our film is not at all preachy and it's about an incident of how a middle-class family gets to know about their son being a homosexual.â     After discussing the serious aspects of SMZS, I wanted to know his takeaways from the film, as with every movie or a character, an actor tend to learn something.
âThis movie is actually one of the biggest roles in my life. The bigger the role, the more the wait. I have learnt patience here and I have realized that this is not like my other projects. So, pure din mein ek scene hua location ke hisaab se and next scene next hoga. I actually learnt patience because of this,â said Rao.
By now, it is well established that the actor is someone who is well-versed with social media and if you see him on Instagram, you would know that many youngsters follow him and, in fact, take career tips from him.  View this post on InstagramA post shared by (@gajrajrao) âYes, I have noticed that. Actually, youngsters send me Direct Messages on Instagram. They will ask for a video from me and tell me that they are upset because of papers. So yeh sab messages aate hai,â he said.
Before we ended the conversation, I asked him what tips would he want to give to the scores of young talent in the nation, who are thriving hard to make their presence felt in the industry.
âI, in fact, take tips from the younger generation (laughs). On a serious note, 20 saal pehle platforms nahi the par ab hai like TikTok and YouTube. If you know you are talented, start using these platforms if you are not getting work and be aware of literature and drama,â Gajraj said and signed off.
We are excited to see him in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and hope he keeps entertaining us with such interesting and deep characters.

Meet Bussa Krishna, Trump's Biggest Indian 'Bhakt' Who Worships Him & Fasts For Him Every Friday

India is now gearing up for another American President's visit and the preparation is in full swing in the country ahead of President Donald Trumpâs maiden visit.  Trump is scheduled to visit India with the first lady Melania Trump on February 24 and apart from strengthening the strategic ties between India and the USA, he is also expected to inaugurate the world's largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. © Indiatiems Even though we might find Krishna's fandom amusing, his friends and family actually think it's problematic and there have been instances where they've actually been embarrassed of him socially.
âI am facing difficulties because of my relatives. They tell me that I am disgracing them in society. I told them that just like you believe and worship Shiva, I believe and worship Trump. Neither of us can stop the other from doing so,â  Krishna told Reuters.
