10 Brilliant Shows Of This Decade Which Were Gamechangers In The Entertainment World

In case you haven't realised it, 2019 marks the end of a full decade. As we embark on a new journey walking into 2020 with life lessons and emotional baggage, we thought what are a few things that will stay with us from this soon to be ex of ours. One of the best things was the kind of entertainment content we got to watch as viewers in these past couple of years. So to help us all, we decided to curate a list of the 10 best shows which were entertainment gamechangers. Now you might differ in your opinion and that is perfectly okay, but here are some of the most loved shows of this decade. 1. Game Of Thrones The finale of one of the most watched shows in the history of television was kind of disappointing for a lot of fans out there, but there is a reason why GOT became the epic saga of emotions which enjoyed a cult fan following for over 8 years of its existence. The magnanimous scale of production, absolutely surprising storylines, breathtaking cinematography, and literally everything about this show changed the way an epic is lived on the screen. 2. Stranger Things An American sci-fi show based in 1984, kids running with walkie-talkies, an 'upside down' world where a hungry demon awaits to devour everything in its way are some of the basic ingredients that make this show a big success. Following the adventures of these kids makes you want to be a part of this 'cool' group yourself. Clearly one of the best sci-fi dramas we watched in the last 10 years. 3. Sacred Games The only TV show which put India on the global map of how brilliantly one can serve entrainment on a platter. Sacred Games is a collective par excellence effort of Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap brought to life with the mad genius of Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The complicated relationship between Sartaj Singh and gangster Ganesh Gaitonde and the web of lies he's trapped with are some of the key ingredients which made this show the success it became. 4. Fleabag Phoebe Waller-Bridge did something which most women-oriented shows only attempt to do. Fleabag hit the bull's eye when it first made its debut over two years ago. The freshly packed rawness of absolutely relatable characters make your heart heavy, leave you with uncomfortable contradictory thoughts after every episode, leave you with pearls of laughter and sometimes make you wonder how brilliantly the flaws have been put on display. Needless to say, this show swept a lot of awards this year, a win which was rightly deserved. 5. Crown A show that makes it to this list not only because it is wonderfully and tastefully done, but also because it is a History lover's aesthetic delight. The show chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth and the whole circle of humans around her. Each scene is like a beautifully carved scripture and demands your full attention. 6. Black Mirror This dystopian anthropological series might give you the chills with a few episodes, but Black Mirror left people asking for more all the time. This show takes the credit for being one of the most compelling shows in the history of television. If you ever want to think how the future of the human species looks like, pick any episode and treat yourself with some discomfort thrown with a lot of awe in equal measure. 7. Peaky Blinders One of those marvellously made shows which enjoy a constant amount of viewership, courtesy its brilliant scriptwriting.  Fans find this show to be an addictive watch and the strongly portrayed characters make for a must-watch in case you haven't watched it already. 8. Sherlock Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective series came to life with this British show which enjoys a stellar fan following. Benedict Cumberbatch's brilliant portrayal of the detective has made it one of the most iconic characters in the history of television. 9. Rick & Morty This American adult cartoon finds it place on this list for the kind of craziness it has managed to brew amongst its fan following. The cynical world of their sci-fi adventures addresses deep philosophical questions about human existence and life in general. 10. Homeland There are a lot of series which deal with the cat and mouse chase between the authorities and the people running away from them but none of them are remotely as gripping and packed with so much suspense as Homeland. Following the way being paved by Carrie Mathinson and her mentor Saul is a visual delight. Each season follows a different storyline and each of them are equally gripping. There is not a single dull moment as you try to unravel the mystery yourself. Let us know what are some of your favourite shows so we can add them to this list and help everyone curate a 'must watch' list of their own!

OnePlus CEO Makes Headlines By Confirming The Upcoming 5G Compatible Smartphone Series

After a successful 2019, studded with flagship killers, a music concert and pop-up events, OnePlus is now in the news for being the first smartphone manufacturer to have 5G support across a full product line up. On 12th March 2020, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that its next product series will include a full lineup of 5G devices, further solidifying OnePlus as a pioneer in ushering in the 5G era. We're going all in on 5G. You in? pic.twitter.com/liO2wVIsf9 â Pete Lau (@PeteLau) March 10, 2020 This development stands extremely relevant to todayâs customer base where thereâs a rising demand for data communication â be it for streaming movies, music, playing online games, conference calls, and other data-intensive services. OnePlus Phones & 5G Currently, the company has two 5G compatible phones in the market â OnePlus 7 Pro which was launched in the UK and US last year, and a special McLaren edition of the OnePlus 7T Pro. Apart from this, the next-gen phones - OnePlus 8, Oneplus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 Lite which are slated to launch in mid-April this year will be centred around 5G. The upcoming OnePlus 8 series will be equipped with Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 865 and the Snapdragon X55 modem. New mid-range OnePlus phone leaks, could be OnePlus 8 Lite https://t.co/qSYEeP6jrQ â Android Authority (@AndroidAuth) December 7, 2019 With futuristic technology coming to our fingertips, itâs only natural to worry about soaring prices. But, while Pete Lau did mention that weâre likely to see a more expensive âProâ version, the regular OnePlus 8 will be manufactured at an affordable price with relatively modest tech specs.   Massive Investments In The 5G Sector True to its motto of âNever Settle,â the brand has been investing in 5G since 2016 now, and is working on developing application scenarios like cloud gaming, cloud videos, and cloud storage services which would be a big boon for tech-savvy customers of today. The OnePlus 5G labs are located in Taipei and Shenzhen where research is carried out in areas of radio frequency (RF) circuits, antennasâ¯and multi-media (camera, audio, and display). The labs also conduct software research for communication protocol, optimization, performance, power, stability and user scenario testing. Games on demand âï¸ð®

"âWeâve been investing in 5G for several years and we see this as the direction going forward and one weâre very much committed to", Lau said. One can look back and smile at the days when â5G compatible phonesâ were a far-fetched thought. Rumours are rife that OnePlus will roll out the 5G compatible â8 seriesâ around 16th April 2020. 6 Things We Realised About Friends In Retrospect

For over 26 years and across two entire generations, the impact of Friends cannot be understated. Whether on a DVD set in the early 2000s or streaming services today, countless evenings have been spent by millions of people on its 236 episodes - not an understatement to call it one of the most successful television shows of all time, then.
So how does it hold up today? Interesting, to say the least. Perhaps itâs the era that the show captures or time itself, changing how we perceive television on a rewatch. Either way, thereâs a good number of inconsistencies that crop up while visiting the series, especially a good half-decade after you first discovered it. Here are a few of them.
1. Living Life Sitcom-Class
Friends is supposed to be a comedy of course, but looking at the gangâs apartments, thereâs a bit of fantasy at work. Living in Manhattan as you might imagine, is considerably expensive - the average cost of an apartment near âCentral Perkâ hovers somewhere around $4,200 or 3 lakh rupees. No spacey 1,500 sq ft apartment like youâd find on the showâs sets too - those could be twice as expensive. Sure, Monica has fortune on her side as she shares her home with Rachel, and it happens to be in her grandmotherâs name. Still doesnât do much to explain how Ross, Chandler and especially Phoebe and Joey get along, particularly in the earlier seasons when their careers were shakier. 2. Permanent Vacation Imagine if you could let go of your responsibilities and work, spending time with your best friends in a cafe everyday? Sounds familiar to any Friends fan Iâm sure, and hereâs why this amazing thought doesnât add up. First, Monica. According to the New York Times, even culinary students out on internships in the city have it rough, working for ânine to eleven hours a day, five to six days a weekâ.  Considering that Monica eventually becomes a head chef for âAlessandroâsâ, a restaurant she works at from seasons 4-9, weâre sure that she realistically wouldnât have time for coffee shops. Those apartments wonât pay for themselves, Iâd imagine. 3. Chandler Isnât Actually That Nice Bing fans might consider this heresy, after all - isnât everyone supposed to hate Ross by now? Sure, Ross isnât so innocent - weâll get to him in a minute. Curiously however, despite constantly winning polls for the publicâs âFavourite Friends Characterâ, He can be quite a bit scummy, breaking the bro-code with Joey when he kisses his best friendâs girlfriend in season 4âs âThe One Where Chandler Crosses the Lineâ.  4. Phoebeâs Dark History Sure, the Friends characters donât get to worry about rent, hang out all the time and always look great - but not everything is that positive and funny in the show. Despite usually being in a happy mood, Phoebeâs backstory is particularly dark and tragic - the character not only grew up in poverty, but was abandoned at the age of fourteen on the streets when her father walked out - right before her mother commits suicide. Yikes.  What makes this even more tragic is how despite the years, Phoebe seems to carry a lot of this trauma with her - sometimes spontaneously bringing up the topic of her parents and homelessness, even to one-up Monica and Rachelâs problems. 5. Joeyâs Lonely Ending âHow you doin?â is my favourite catchphrase from the show, and for understandable reasons - being Joey sounds like a lot of fun. The guyâs an actor, incredibly charming and hilarious to watch - in the first half of the entire show, his life takes the shape of a rollercoaster alongside Chandlerâs, as the two figure their way out through the twenties. Joey also happens to get lucky more often than anyone else in Friends - he sleeps with a total of 51 confirmed partners by season 10.  The sad thing is, through the years, Joey never finds someone he can stay with throughout. At the series finale, he remains the only person in the gang who isnât in a relationship, as Ross and Rachel get back together after Joeyâs brief time spent dating her. 6. All-White NYC © NBC True, the show was also made in the 90s when representation in media wasnât as advanced as it is today, but just having two people of colour in ten seasons worth of episodes? That seems quite an extreme, and those two actors themselves agree - Actress Aisha Tyler, who played Rossâs girlfriend and Cosimo Fusco, who starred as Rachelâs boyfriend Paolo, have both addressed the showâs lack of diversity, branding it âunrealistic.â After all, New York City is one of the worldâs most diverse places in the world - even back in 2000, only 36% of the population was white - with the remaining divided between black people, asians and hispanics, as well as smaller minorities.

Bobby Deol's Black T-Shirt Is More Confusing Than The Jantar Mantar

Talk of the latest style nuances and you'd realise, that ripped-to-bits grails are the ones being talked about in fashion circles. Because predominantly, owing to their badass and hypebeast feels, these shredded jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts have the biggest following right now. And thanks to celebrity trends in India, they have a lot of backing too. But talk of famous guys like Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan (who're not very keen on ripped jeans yet) and you'd notice how even today, plain light/dark wash jeans solve the purpose for most. They pair them with henleys, plain T-shirts, kurtas etc. These 'celebrated humans' rather play safe than make friends with Kanye West, you know. But once again, this is just another section of famous men. Guys like Bobby Deol AKA still-a-relevant-name in Bollywood have their own theory of apparel play. If his recent airport outing is any indication, he's really been wearing some insane gear right now, contrary to what he's worn in the past. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Moving on to the present, however, here's what the actor wore to the airport recently: © Viral Bhayani For starters, if looked closely, there's an acute absence of colour in the outfit here. While that's nothing to take him down for, we wish there was some on the footwear at least. Though, the tint on his sunnies is compensating for the colour-ignorance anyway, we're not very pleased. Nevertheless, time to break the outfit down. His black T-shirt (the star attraction here), might make you try and figure out what the hell's going on at the hem. Is it ripped, snipped with a scissor or shall we just call it an asymmetrical hemline? It's quite a confusing sight honestly but whatever it is, it looks insane.  Coming to his black breed of jeans now, that in all probability, have been treated with wax to appear borderline-shiny/matte, so that they possess their own stand in a rather, saturated world of denim in 2018. That said, even the fit of the pair is reaching the likes of glove-like fits and appearing like it was literally born for him. Bravo! © Viral Bhayani Is this a brand-new style phase for the actor? Is he headed for big revamp (or comeback)? Whatever it is, we're 100% down for it (just not in the form of DJ Bobby Deol).

Dinesh Karthik Scored 29 In Just 8 Balls To Win Nidahas Trophy Vs Bangladesh On This Day In 2018

In what was considered to be one of the most controversial tri-series of 2018, the Nidahas Trophy between India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka saw a rare show of skills, patience and explosive batting when Indian wicket keeper-batsman, Dinesh Karthik took control of the final, deflated the Bangladeshi bowling line-up and won the trophy for the Men in Blue exactly one year ago, today. Returning to the top roster after a long gap, the tri-series was more of a test for the then 32-year-old, a question of whether he's still got what it takes to be a part of the best cricket team in the world.  While India managed to make it to the final of the series without requiring a lot of help from the righty, skipper Rohit Sharma (https://www.mensxp.com/topic/rohit-sharma.html) and the squad demanded a miracle of an innings by him to be able to win it all, late in the game.  When Karthik entered the field after Manish Pandey's dismissal, India required to score 34 runs off the last two overs. The need for Karthik to hit big shots was of utmost importance as his co-batsman Vijay Shankar was struggling to connect the deliveries with his bat.  Karthik, however, had different plans altogether. Stepping on the batting crease in the 19th over, he scored 22 runs off Rubel Hossain's deliveries while also sending the last ball for a maximum to bring the trophy to India.  "Really happy to come out of this performance. Really happy for the team. We've played really well in this tournament and to not win the final would have been unfortunate. It was not that easy to bat there,” said a modest Dinesh Karthik after the game who was also named the Man of the Match for his short yet impactful innings.

Move Over Baahubali, Prabhas May Play A Superhero In His Upcoming Pan-World Film

It isnât everyday that an actor manages to cross every linguistic and cultural barrier to make a place for themselves in the hearts of millions, all at once. But Baahubali megastar Prabhas managed to pull off this feat effortlessly. He is more than just a heartthrob. Fans love his screen presence and swear by the magic he can spell with his performances.
© Arka Media Works So, despite the Saaho debacle, fans didnât lose faith in their favourite star, and perhaps thatâs why people absolutely lost it when Prabhasâ project was announced yesterday. The director of the film, Nag Ashwin took to Twitter to make the official announcement and said:
Shoot year end lo start...maybe 2021 end lo release...too early to say anything else, expect a big thanks to prabhas garu...kontha mandi pan-india film antunnaru...adi tappu...pan-india eppudo kottesaaru...idi pan-world darlings :)) #PrabhasNagAshwin https://t.co/9KnLQqbVgm â Nag Ashwin (@nagashwin7) February 26, 2020 Nag Ashwin who directed the superhit Telugu film Mahanati, claimed in his latest tweet that this upcoming film with Prabhas wonât be a pan-India film like most people are claiming, but instead itâll be a whole lot bigger and better to become a pan-world movie.
© Twitter Though not much is known about the film, reports claim that Prabhas will be playing a superhero in the film. Thatâs not all, allegedly many big names from the entertainment industry will be part of the project, which is scheduled to go on the floors by the end of this year.
© Twitter Prabhasâ mega-budget film is expected to hit the screens in late 2021, and reportedly Nag Ashwin told India Today that it wonât be a remake or a biopic. Rumour also has it that Jr NTR might be collaborating with Nag Ashwin on this film, and shall be the big project of 2020 because of the star cast that is expected to come onboard for the project.

5 Types Of Professionals That Earn Way More Than Doctors & This Hits Hard Amid Coronavirus

Beginning with the initial outbreak in China, the current crisis in Italy and subsequently, throughout the world, doctors and nurses in all departments were told they may have to start working in emergency rooms and intensive care units, a directive that sent shock waves through the medical community. Doctors and health workers across the world are giving up time with their loved ones to help keep ours safe and well. They have a simple request for all their hard work in combating #coronavirus ...#socialdistancing #stayathome #stayhomeforus #COVID2019AU #medtwitter pic.twitter.com/z9EUsiYnvs â AMA Media (@ama_media) March 19, 2020 As demands ramp up with the number of cases inching closer to 300,000, itâs sobering to realise how crucial the role of medical personnel are in society. An estimated 10-15 million doctors practice across the globe, and their counterparts in some of the worldâs more flashy, glamorous job titles receive compensation thatâs quite simply absurd - given the need of the hour. Weâre taking a closer look at the income disparities doctors have to face in four hotspots where the virusâ physical and social presence has made massive changes - India, China, Italy and the United States. Hereâs what we find:  1. Social Media Influencers © Reuters Thereâs no avoiding it - social media influencers have taken over their respective platforms in the last 10years, and their incomes have also exponentially exploded in return. Perhaps the most obvious and popular example is Kylie Jenner from the Kardashian dynasty - the âyoungest self-made billionaireâ rakes in $180 million per year according to Forbes. In case youâre wondering how much she earns compared to her counterparts, most of them are in med-school - the young celebrity is just 22 years old.
© Reuters Meanwhile in India and China, while thereâs no shortage of influencers across films, music and fashion plying their trade, the emergence of Chinese-owned
TikTok has spread the influencer bug much deeper into Indian cities and towns, amassing over 120 million users. Mr. Faisu, who we interviewed earlier in December, had close to 20 million followers before being hit with a ban for political content - a fanbase that allows him to earn an estimated 30-40 lakhs per annum. Thatâs about twice as much as that of a specialised cardiologist in India.  2. CEOs © Reuters It all starts from the top, of course - most of the worldâs richest people are helming global corporations with thousands of employees. In the case of India and the United States, things already seem severely tilted, with both nations topping the ranks for CEO to the average worker ratio. Reliance mogul Mukesh Ambani earns a staggering 48 times more than the average Indian doctor, not even counting stocks and a diverse portfolio of earnings. © Reuters When it comes to the US, things are clearer. Amazonâs Jeff Bezos makes about 14 times more than the average, fully-qualified doctor, not counting for his 16% stake in the company. Bring that into the picture, however, and Bezos earns an astounding 6 lakh times more.
3. Athletes © Reuters According to estimates, the worldâs sports industries make up close to $500 billion - no doubt supported by the tireless athletic and marketing efforts of the worldâs biggest athletes.  Italy has been a key nation behind the dominance of football in sports today - most of the teams in Serie A pay their players between 4 to 1 million US dollars a year. Juventus, in particular, pays over twice of that with an average of 10 million, but what about Ronaldo? The legendary player pulled in a whopping $108 million in 2019 when combining both his winnings, earnings and endorsements - 805 times that of an average Italian dottore.  © Reuters Things arenât that different in China - the epicentre of the worldâs viral crisis, that has major income disparity as well.  The Chinese Super League attracts worldwide talent to play for its teams and the economic powerhouse pays its players around $1 million annually - around 250 times that of the Chinese average salary.  Bring doctors into the mix along with the leagueâs wealthiest player, Brazilâs Oscar, and his heavy $25 million earnings tower in comparison to the $13,000 that Chinese docs take home each year. Thatâs a ratio of nearly 1:2000. © Reuters Leaving aside football, India (until recent years, perhaps) has considered sports synonymous with cricket, and on that spreadsheet, no one dominates the competition quite like skipper Virat Kohli. While the average IPL player nets around $5 million annually, the Indian captain pulls in $25 million per annum - making his bank accounts fill over 3000 times faster than most Indian doctors.
4. Filmstars © Reuters Unsurprisingly, both India and the United States have points to make here, with them both running the two most successful film industries in the world.  Artists, in general, see great variation in income - while struggling actors make extremely irregular annual incomes, things are very different at the other end.  Dwayne âThe Rockâ Johnson sits at the peak here, raking in close to $90 million a year. The top ten ranges anywhere from that figure to Will Smithâs $35 million, making them earn between 900 to 350 times the average American doc. © Reuters In India, the difference is truly astounding. Akshay Kumar, who also happened to be the 4th most paid actor in the world last year, raked in $65 million - close to 6.5 thousand times an Indian doctorâs takeaway even in major cities such as Mumbai.
5. Politicians © Reuters Well, at least for the other three you have the benefit of saying theyâve earned their worth - nailing down the exact incomes of politicians turns out to be an understandably difficult affair.  In the United States, Donald Trump entered the presidency as the only billionaire in US Presidential history - in 2019, the POTUS raked in somewhere over half a billion dollars, making him at least four thousand times richer than the average doctor in the US. © Reuters In India, however, expecting a straight annual income figure for politicians is naive. On paper, for example, PM Narendra Modi, for example, has a salary of around $30,000 per annum - less than the average tier-1 city specialist earns.
If we look at the scale of major scams led by any of the many corrupt positions in our government over the years, things seem to feel a lot bleaker. Take the mid-2010s Coalgate scam, which cost the nation $33.33 billion, close to 10% the net worth of Indiaâs entire healthcare industry - thereâs no shortage of reasons to raise eyebrows at the earnings of Indian politicians.  While all these professions have their place in the society, the current pandemic is a wake-up call for many to remember just how much time, attention and money is diverted towards not so essential figures in the society. Hopefully after the crisis is averted, governments and regulatory bodies will step in to ensure that the invaluable service given by the worldâs medical professionals gets the recognition it deserves.

7 Moments From The Amas 2016 That Stole The Whole Damn Show

International music award ceremonies have a charm and energy to them; mostly because of the amount of picture-worthy poses, on stage moments that make you shout out, ‘Oh no they didn’t’, or ‘Hell yeah they did!’.  That’s what I love about them. And, the 44th Annual American Music Awards that took place at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles was no less. Here are our favourite moments from the awards’ show.  1. When Gigi Hadid Did A Melania Trump  And slayed it like a lady boss! © Kevin Winter/Guardian UK 2. When Lady Gaga Went Barefoot  ..And serenaded the audience with her powerful vocals. We were in awe!  © Frank Micelotta/Guardian UK 3. When Selena Gomez Won The Night With Her Words  Here’s what she said after receiving her award for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist:  “In 2014, this stage was actually the first time that I was authentically 100 percent honest with all of you. I think it's safe to say most of you know my life whether I liked it or not. And I had to stop. Because I had everything—and I was absolutely broken inside. I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.  "I don't want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what's in here," she patted her heart. "I'm not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore. All I can say is I'm so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every day with people that I love. IPL 2017: Allergic To MS Dhoni Harsh Goenka Ommits MSD From The List Of Pune Heroes

The tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen its fair share of duels so far. Whether it was Robin Uthappa locking horns with Siddarth Kaul or Rohit Sharma taking on the umpires, the tournament has been a mere witness to tempers flying everywhere. But, among all those altercations, one particular face-off has become the talk of the town. As the tournament nears the completion of the league stage, there seems to be no end to the MS Dhoni-Harsh Goenka saga. After drawing flak for ridiculing the former Indian captain, the brother of Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) owner Sanjeev Goenka appears to have taken another dig at crowd-favourite Dhoni. Riding on the heroics of Rahul Tripathi (93), after Pune defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by four wickets - their seventh win in 11 games, Harsh Goenka returned to doing what he does best - irk Dhoni fans. Great thing about #RPS - a new hero every game -Tripathi, Stokes, Smith, Tahir. Peaking at the right time. — Harsh Goenka (@hvgoenka) May 3, 2017 Taking to Twitter, Goenka tweeted: "Great thing about #RPS - a new hero every game - Tripathi, Stokes, Smith, Tahir. Peaking at the right time." There seems to be nothing wrong with Goenka's tweet. After all, he is rightfully praising the Pune players who've made valuable contributions this season. Tripathi has been brilliant up the order for Pune with 352 runs. Smith, too, had guided his team to victory in their first game against Mumbai Indians (MI). Ben Stokes justified his Rs 14.50-crore price tag with a blistering hundred against Gujarat Lions (GL). Even Imran Tahir has been pretty impressive this season with a knack of picking up crucial wickets at regular intervals. @hvgoenka What about SRH match you fool....Don't forget the value of who changed your life....today you are here just because of @msdhoni in your team — Virat Kohli (@iamkohliii) May 3, 2017 But, while Goenka mentioned everyone, he somehow forgot or deliberately ommitted Dhoni's name from that list. Especially after the Jharkhand cricketer finished the game for Pune against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With 47 runs needed off the last three overs, it was Dhoni's batting prowess that turned the game on its head as Pune chased down the target on the final delivery of the match. And, despite attracting plaudits across the globe, Dhoni seems to have failed to impress Harsh Goenka who continues to hog the limelight for his anti-Dhoni tweets. Earlier, he had also tweeted about the Pune cricketers comparing their strike-rates after their second game, with Dhoni missing in that list again. #RPS batting statistics until now - Manoj Tiwari, Rahane , Christian have the best strike rates. pic.twitter.com/JKya3lxHKC — Harsh Goenka (@hvgoenka) April 8, 2017 It's quite sad and shameful that someone like Harsh Goenka continues to underestimate a seasoned campaigner like Dhoni who is being praised and lauded by other Pune players including Smith and Stokes. @hvgoenka Forgot Dhoni in RPSvSRH??? Or u just can never see him? Why do hate him so much... Or even if do u shuld atleast respect him — MSDian (@LuvUMahi9) May 3, 2017 @hvgoenka
Who rescued RPS against SRH? 😬
.
.
*MS DHONI*
I guess ur mind is allergic to the name MS DHONI , right? — Kaushal Karkera (@k_kaush22) May 3, 2017 @hvgoenka What is it with you and MS Dhoni ? We need to understand. Please let us know! — Kiran CS (@kirancs23) May 3, 2017 @hvgoenka
Do not humiliate the Great MSDhoni
U might be a business tycoon
But he is Master of All@msdhoni @SaakshiSRawat @bishnoikuldeep — swayam (@mswayam) May 4, 2017 @mswayam @hvgoenka @msdhoni @SaakshiSRawat @bishnoikuldeep Ms dhoni un charo ka bap hai — snehal sawarn (@sawarn_snehal) May 4, 2017 @sawarn_snehal @hvgoenka @msdhoni @SaakshiSRawat @bishnoikuldeep Sharm aati hai Goenka ji ko Desh k hero par isliye Australian par bharosa — swayam (@mswayam) May 4, 2017

What Do These Zodiac Signs Say About Your Girlfriend?

Ever since the dawn of mankind, men have tried seeking various means to understand women and their brain - That's where astrology comes in. Albeit, Zodiac signs aren't the most accurate way to determine someone's personality, yet wouldn't it be better to at least have a rough idea about someone before you have invested way too much time in them? So here's the type of girlfriend you will find under every Zodia sign :-  1. Aries (March 21st to April 19th) © Sarcasm Aries women are known for their strong, dominant and upbeat personality. A fearless and natural leader, an Aries woman is charismatic, energetic, and dynamic. The first thing about dating an Aries woman that you will notice perhaps is that no three evenings with her will  pass in the same manner. This is because Aries are constantly in search for new things to do and love to immerse themselves in action. Cancer, Aquarius and Pisces are often the most compatible and best long-term matches. 2. Taurus (April 20th to May 21st) © pinterest/the bull glyph pictogram They're hard to please, for sure. In the beginning of a relationship she will carefully examine her partner to see if they are worthy of her feelings. If a Taurus woman commits to you, then rest assured she is in it for the long haul. If a Taurus does not see a future, or think you are compatible, she will not waste of second of either of your time. A Tip - They appreciate the full spectrum when it comes to sex. Don't take them to your depressing barren room with a lone mattress and clothes scattered about the floor if you're trying to seduce them. Think out of the box!  3. Gemini (May 22nd to June 21st) © pinterest/gemini They're incredibly passionate! Although Gemini is not such an emotional sign, she is a woman first, and she will have deep emotions although she might approach them superficially. Because of their widely varying interests and ability to carry many conversations at one time, they cannot help but radiate attractiveness. Curious about almost everything, they are very good listeners and make for great conversation. If you have compatible views on art or politics, expect to be entertained for hours as your Gemini dazzles you with their smart views on shifting topics. 4. Cancer (June 22nd to July 22nd) © pinterest/glyph She is the loving and supportive girlfriend.  If she runs into a partner that doesn't feel the way she does, she could easily get hurt because of her need to give everything she can to the person she loves, with no regard of her own satisfaction. They love feeling needed and actually crave the sensation. They are extremely dependable. They're vehemently protective and fiercely loyal, especially when it comes to close friends and family. When relationships go wrong, Cancer women retreat into their shell to lick their wounds, and it can take a long time before they feel confident enough to venture back out into the big, wide world.  5. Leo (July 23rd to August 22nd) © pinterest/leo horoscope Just one word- Proud. Her love is warm and passionate, she will want to fight, make up, make love and be in someone's embrace all they long, for as long as her personal liberty isn't endangered. Most Leo women are not couch potatoes. They like parties, entertainment and outdoor activities. On the negative side, they can be quite egotistical, demanding, intolerant, domineering, lazy and stubborn. They can have very high self esteem and will be dissatisfied with performing any work which they feel is beneath them. 6. Virgo (August 23rd to September 22nd) © pinterest AVirgo girl is shy.  If this happens outside of a relationship, she will probably be so shy that it will become impossible for her to start a relationship at all. Sometimes a Virgo woman can be harsh but it doesn`t mean that she wants to hurt you – she is just straightforward. Don`t take all she says personally. Traditionally, a Virgo woman tends to be most compatible with a Taurus and least compatible with a Pisces man. 7. Libra (September 23rd to October 22nd) © BIRTHSTONES BY MONTH Libra girls tend to be your power-couple kind of girlfriend. When a Libra woman falls in love, she starts questioning her decision to be in love, as if it was possible to control. She has a deep understanding of the ways of the world, and her maturity is both an asset and a liability. Slow, sophisticated and seductive, she makes love both emotionally and physically, with an emphasis on quality over quantity. 8. Scorpio (October 23rd to November 22nd) © ZODIAN SIGN ASTROLOGY The good and kind girlfriend. She will show her love through actions that cannot be misleading and you will never see a Scorpio woman tease you if she doesn't want to get involved. They are intuitive and have a way of reading people, which can be very annoying, until you realize just how useful it is to have someone so inside your head that her ability to guide you in the right direction is nearly fool-proof. Despite their reputation for being emotional and sensitive, Scorpio women have a special brand of tenacity, insight, drive, and charm that makes them some of the most powerful leaders, influencers, and trendsetters of their time. 9. Sagittarius (November 23rd to December 21st) © ZODIAN SIGN ASTROLOGY They are the funny-as-hell girlfriend. She seeks romance, excitement, and adventure and will not tolerate boredom or neediness in a partner. As a social butterfly, the fun and flirty Sagittarius woman is easy to talk to, and boy does she love to talk! Even though she can sometimes push her opinions on people she doesn't even know, her intentions are good and her character positive, optimistic and strong. She will make you laugh, bring new meaning into your life and do everything she can to teach you how to be happier. 10. Capricorn (December 22nd to January 20th) © ZODIAC SIGN ASTROLOGY The old-fashioned girlfriend.  Her sense of responsibility can be such a strong priority, that she won't allow herself to take any risks, always choosing the safe thing to do and the safe partner to be with. The Capricorn woman is career-focused. It's not just on the job either, she's passionate about everything she does. By nature, they are born leaders and highly self-motivated. This is why you'll often find Capricorns in supervisory or management positions (yes, at home and work). 11. Aquarius (January 20th to February 18th) © ZODIAC SIGN ASTROLOGY Highly intellectual.  The unconscious fear of losing her personality to other people often makes her vulnerable to any sort of expectations and tries to turn her into something she is not. Connecting her thoughts to the sex act is vitally important (otherwise her mind quickly wanders off). Keep her brain and body turned on at the same time by telling her exactly what you want to do to her next as you make love.  Passionate and understanding they have a love for exploring and experimenting with the unknown. 12. Pisces (February 19th to March 20th) © ZODIAC SIGN ASTROLOGY She's your old-soul girlfriend. As soon as she feels love, she starts acting like a little child, certain that this partner could be The One. Stress and chaos are the last thing you can expect from a Pisces. They are as calm as a river in spring. Pisces-born individuals are friendly, affectionate, easy going and good natured. Although Pisceans are not leaders, they excel in guiding others as teachers and role models.

Avengers: Infinity Wars First Look Proves Why It Will Be The Biggest Thing In The History Of Marvel

Since 2008, Marvel has been known for building their huge cinematic universe, introducing tons of comic-book characters to the world — ranging from rich billionaire philanthropists to talking raccoons. A superhero army hit the stage on Saturday at D23 Expo for Avengers: Infinity War. © usatoday Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.),  Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), among other super-stars, took the fan convention stage along with archvillain Thanos (Josh Brolin). Marvel Studios chief, Kevin Feige has soaring expectations for the film, which he describes as being - “by far the biggest production in the history of Marvel Studios.” The #AvengersInfinityWar cast at #D23Expo where they just showed the first #InfinityWar trailer! pic.twitter.com/hrz30Nn3Kw — NPOC (@nerdypoc) July 15, 2017 "I've got to admit, these guys have not been together on stage for a long time, and even I find myself geeking out," said Feige before introducing world-first Infinity War teaser footage. According to io9, Marvel started by playing a fast recap of where all the Infinity Stones have come from, featuring footage from previously released films. The footage unveiling was the beautiful culmination of the Disney live-action presentation, which left the crowd standing on its toes giving applause that rivaled Thor in its thunder. We know each other! He's a friend from work! #D23Expo pic.twitter.com/Yl2aHXhhyR — Disney D23 (@DisneyD23) July 16, 2017 After the studio logo, the Guardians of the Galaxy are seen flying around, Chris Pratt's Star Lord telling the crew to “put on your mean faces.” Something then smashes against their ship's window: Thor. The footage then starts to explain the unexpected coming together of the various Marvel superhero worlds: It begins aboard The Milano, the spaceship utilized by Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and his crew in Guardians of the Galaxy. Cap has a beard.
Black Widow is Blonde.
Spider-Man has Spidey-sense and the iron spider suit.
Hulkbuster is back. #AvengersInfinityWar — SuperBroMovies (@SuperBroMovies) July 15, 2017 Asgardian is suddenly tossed violently against the windshield of the Star Lord's Milano, leading Rocket (Bradley Cooper) to comically exclaim ‘get it off!' Holy shit, the Avengers Infinity War sizzle reel is unbelievable. The scale is unlike anything I've ever seen in franchise filmmaking. — Eric Vespe (@EricVespe) July 15, 2017 Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange strike defensive poses, then Thanos emerges from a smoky portal – and then comes Brolin's voice-over: "Fun really isn't something one considers when balancing the universe. But this ... does put a smile on my face," the space-tyrant says. Infinity War footage! Looks incredible. Thanos basically beating the shit out of everyone and ends with him pulling down a planet to throw! — Empire Magazine (@empiremagazine) July 15, 2017 Although guests were treated to the sneak peak, fans still have a while to wait, as the first half of Infinity War hits theatres May 2018.

Jaime Lannister Reveals A Terrifying Spoiler from GOT Season 8 And We Can't Keep Calm

The 8th and the last season of ‘Game of Thrones' will come out in 2 years and there will be tons of fan theories till then. The 7th season just wrapped up and there are already insane theories floating around. From who will die in the next season to whether Tyrion will betray Daenerys, there's no end to the things you can speculate about. But what do you when a GOT actor himself comes up with a possible spoiler? You don't ignore this one. This time it's actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, who has dropped a major bomb on us.  © HBO The 7th season ended with Jaime Lannister finally abandoning Cersei after she revealed her dark side yet again. He is most probably heading North to join the Stark and Targaryen sides against the White Walkers. Of course, we are expecting an epic battle between the army of the dead and allies of the seven kingdoms. There will be deaths, a lot of them.  © HBO Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, while talking to Esquire, said there could be a lot many main characters walking as Wights. While we did expect a lot of deaths from both the camps, we were not ready to witness main characters as blue-eyed Wights. Not after Viserion. “The fear is that I would be turned into one of those undead. That would suck. You know some of the main characters are going to get turned. There are going to be some blue-eyed main characters running around. And, god, I hope it's not me. That's three hours of make-up in the morning. I know that if David Benioff and Dan Weiss read this, they'll go, "Oh, yes we will."  © HBO We wonder which characters would be seen fighting as part of the army of the undead. We have Thoros of Myr who was killed on Jon Snow's suicide mission beyond the Wall. Benjen Stark could be dead too, thanks to Jon Snow. Considering the army of the dead is through the Wall now, Tormund could be dead too. He'd look absolutely menacing as a Wight. So would Hodor.    © HBO Let's take a stock of characters who could die beyond the Wall in the next season:  Jorah Mormount – The friend-zoned lover, the man with a broken heart, ever so loyal to the woman he loves, Jorah is the perfect choice for a heartbreaking death. © HBO/ Disha Bhatia The Hound – He has had too long a run and without a fight too. We have a feeling he'll go down fighting till his last breath and come back as a Wight. When he left for King's Landing and Tormund bids him farewell, his response is ‘Fuckin no.” Ominous much?  © HBO/ Disha Bhatia One of the Stark sisters – Theories about the death of one of the Stark sisters Arya and Sansa have been abound. As a faceless assassin, Arya would be deadly as a Wight if the White Walkers actually manage to kill her.  © HBO/ Disha Bhatia Jaime Lannister – Who knows Jaime himself might be destined for a life beyond the Wall. Now that he is estranged from his sister and has left his home for good, he could end up dead on the other side, or undead as you'd call it.  © HBO/ Disha Bhatia

Mukkabaaz Review: This Anurag Kashyap Film Is All About Love, Hate…And Punches

To watch a star-studded screening at Liberty Cinema, Mumbai, isn't less than a colossal experience. After all, this grand theatre has celebrated different shades of the film industry since Independence. This theatre has witnessed the success of many Indian classics and it once again came to life when Anurag Kashyap's film 'Mukkabaaz' was screened here for the Mumbai Academy of Motion Images. One can just imagine the huge crowd that came to watch his most-waited film. As soon the name 'Mukkabaaz' appeared on the silver screen, viewers couldn't contain their happiness.  'Mukkabaaz', unlike his previous films, unfolds a new chapter about love in the time of hate. This new rendition brings together a cocktail mixed with the right amount of punches that keeps you hooked to the story.  © Twitter Shravan Singh (Vineet Kumar Singh) is an aspiring boxer from Bareilly and can do anything to be a national player. He meets Sunaina (Zoya Hussain), his boss Bhagwan Das Mishra's (Jimmy Shergil) niece and instantly falls in love with her. A beautiful love story brews between Shravan and Sunaina who is mute and uses technology to express her thoughts. Their beautiful tale is simple and touching.  But what happens when you offend and hurt the ego one of the most powerful men in Uttar Pradesh? Your dreams are crushed, you struggle every single day and you don't get to choose who you love and you brace yourself for a never-ending fight. 'Mukkabaaz' (The Brawler) is about love, hate, passion, sports and everything above and beyond it.  © Twitter The menacing character of Bhagwan Das Mishra is someone who can crush you to pulp. You don't mess with a man like him because when you do, he makes it his life's sole motto to ruin you and everyone around you. Hurt by Shravan and Sunaina, he vows to destroy them. You also have Ravi Kishan who becomes Shravan's coach and advices him that in order for the world to hear him out, he needs to win and make people value what he says.  Kashyap introduces you to UP in a very different manner, unlike the one you witnessed in 'Bareilly Ki Barfi'. His vision of UP is cruel, vexed, enraged, corrupt, diluting yet true and real that you can't get over it when you leave the theatres. From casteism to the bureaucracy of Indian sports to not having the freedom to aspire and love, Kashyap brilliantly points out vital societal issues that sub-consciously make a huge impact in our lives.   As Kishan says in the teaser of the film, “Uttar Pradesh ke Mike Tysen hai jinhe pehla mukka chalane se pehle ek Brahmin ki kanya se mohabbat ho gayi.”  © Twitter In a country where we often talk about sports, 'Mukkabaaz' presents a true picture of how talented people struggle to achieve what they aspire and how power corrupts everything. The music of the film is yet another highlight that totally sweeps you away. Look out for the soundtrack 'Paintra' which will give you goosebumps with its beats.  Every actor fits so well to their role that you wouldn't even think for a moment that they are just playing a character. The film takes pretty good time to establish its plot but it's engrossing all the way. P.S. The film didn't follow Kashyap's usual sex and violence formula yet stands out to be a film that every millennial must watch.  The film is set to hit the theatres near you on 10 November.

We Want Thor To Hammer This TV Host Who Revealed A Major Spoiler From 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Disclaimer: This article contains a major spoiler from the upcoming movie 'Thor: Ragnarok'.  The release of 'Thor: Ragnarok' is right around the corner, and we are already losing our minds contemplating how the story will unfold in the third installment of 'Thor' series. On one hand, Marvel Studios is trying their best to be impenetrable about the movie's premiere, while others are simply making things tougher by creating loopholes in their plans by dropping massive spoilers.  Earlier, we saw our beloved 'Hulk', Mark Ruffalo accidently stream the first few minutes of the film, after he went live from Instagram at the premiere of the film and forgot to turn the video off. Well, this time around too a massive plot-twist was revealed, but thankfully the cast wasn't responsible for the spoiler.  © Marvel Studios Blame it on a universal conspiracy or the over-excited junta, there are certain things that probably even Marvel Studios can't control and spoilers lead that list. Recently, 'Thor' and 'Hulk' i.e. Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo appeared on an interview with 'The Project'. In a bid to ask interesting questions, the TV host went ahead and blurted out one major story plot, leaving Chris Hemsworth visibly embarrassed and shocked after this gaffe. The host spoke about Cate Blanchett's character 'Hela', the Goddess of death and referred to her as Thor's SISTER. (ARE YOU KIDDING US?) © Youtube / TEN Now this is definitely a massive blow because even in the comics, she has been addressed as Loki's daughter, which will make her Thor's niece since Loki is his adoptive brother. Anyway, without digging too deep into their relationship, the point is that Hela might actually be Thor's sister, if the host's words are taken into consideration. Hemsworth was also taken aback by this sudden revelation and shot back at the host saying, “You can't say it's his sister, you can't give that away.”    And not just once, the spoiler was dropped three times. So the reporter started the conversation with this bomb and we really have to applaud Hemsworth for not losing his cool completely.  First Spoiler… “Obviously it's a star-studded cast, our very own – the gorgeous – Cate Blanchett plays your sister, Chris.” Second Spoiler… “Your Sister, Chris.” Third Spoiler and the most major one… “And for a lot of this movie, your sister – she's trying to kill you, your brother…” This is when Hemsworth interrupted him, but the damage was already done, so he tried to play it cool and said jokingly that “This is not live, is it? We can rewind the tapes…” We guess after this gaffe, Mark Ruffalo is breathing a sigh of relief as he is no longer the king of spoilers. This host now takes the award home with this epic stint that we'll most definitely remember for the longest time. 'Thor: Ragnarok' is slated for an October 25 release…and only then will we know if this major spoiler is actually true.

Are Indian Men Ready To Be Asked Out?

A friend recently lamented about how Indian women never make the first move. The said friend had been on Tinder long enough to grow his beard twice. His problem was not a lack of matches—his dedicated fitness routine, MNC salary and maa ka pyaar has made sure he is a good-looking Mr Darcy in the Indian dating scene. But despite being swiped right by the handful of girls who do swipe right on Tinder, he was single and flustered. “They never initiate the conversation, man. I'm tired of thinking of creative ways to say hi,” he quipped. “This is even worse than coming up with pick-up lines in a club. At least, you don't have to wait two days for a reply.”  It got me thinking. It's a given, agreed—women don't often initiate the conversation. Is it a power trip, an ego boost that has been fed into our idea of romance where the lady is to be wooed before she finally relents? Will the men get confused about which role to play if women were to play the pursuer?  © Thinkstock Photos What if we took charge and pursued the men we like? Many of us are already there. I, for one, have often been forthcoming about my likes and intentions. You ask any twenty-something independent young girl and surely, she has at least once gone out with her heart on her sleeve. And how has that worked out? Most of the times, poorly. On more than one occasion, the gentleman in question—even though thrilled at the prospect of being an object of affection—has retreated in haste and confusion. Considering how rare it is for women to propose to men, we can forgive the initial shock and silence. Modern men today, however, don't mind being asked out for a change; many confess they find it incredibly impressive if the woman makes the first move. Kanwar Sodhi, a digital media professional, says, “I'd love it if a woman came up to me and told me she likes me. It shows forthrightness and a no-nonsense attitude.”  © Thinkstock Photos But somehow it still isn't working out. While most men are ecstatic at the idea of being coveted, they are not always sure how to deal with it. The concept of chase is so intrinsically rooted in dating, especially in India, that without it, the end goal seems meaningless. When a woman confesses her desire and denies the said man (of course, we aren't talking about all men here so please leave that conversation for another rainy day) a chase, she takes away from him the thrill of winning. Manish, 27, says, “I would personally love it if a woman confesses her love for me, considering I don't get much female attention. But I know some of my friends wouldn't be cool with it..” Kanwar agrees, “I too have a few friends like that. Men enjoy the chase but when a girl approaches them they feel their hands are off the steering.” The power trip is right here. Admit it or not, most men love the chase. Desire, chase and achievement – winning a woman over is often sweeter than the woman herself. The knowledge that a woman likes them will give them instant gratification but the same knowledge can also lead to fizzling out of desire, because there's no chase to heighten it.  © Thinkstock Photos It's human tendency to want that which is forbidden and seemingly out of bounds. We often measure the worth of something by the ease of obtaining it. Women playing hard to get and men working hard to get them is what has come out of it. And it has benefitted no one. When something is offered to you without a struggle, you fail to realise its worth. A senior once confessed he'd lose interest if a woman came up to him and told him she liked him. “We all want to date someone better than us, someone we think is just a little out of our league. If she has so easily fallen for me, I'd be compelled to think I can do better.” If you did not have to work hard for something, surely it must be an easy catch? Am I too good for her?  Why would she ask me out otherwise? © Thinkstock Photos "It's not that I have anything against a woman asking me out, I mean it's cool and everything. But somehow it plants a seed in my head that she's a little...desperate. I know, it's stupid but it's the first thing that pops into my head. Why is she asking me? How many guys has she asked before me? Why have others rejected her? What if I say yes & THEN find out the reason? It's super embarrassing, please change my name!" says Kevin*, a 33-year-old musician living in Delhi. And that's a prejudice a lot of men harbor. When a woman asks them out, they are often quick to judge her as a bit too desperate. Why did she need to ask a man out? Did she not have enough male attention in her life? Is there something wrong with her? © Thinkstock Photos When a woman takes the first step forward and proposes to a guy, does it question his manliness? Does it take away from him the power of carving out his path? He is not getting to choose and win his choice; he is being won over. "I have never been asked out by a woman, but I can't help but think that I would be kinda uncomfortable. Not with her of course! But myself. I mean...I'm a man and part of what makes me a man is finding my woman myself. No one has ever told me what to do if she finds me first!" says 27-year-old Harish. © Thinkstock Photos Sure, there are men who have evolved beyond this and are perfectly comfortable being asked out. They don't have time for mind games and are glad their chase is cut short for them by the woman. The end goal matters to them, not the challenges in the way. They are playing the game to win, not to enjoy an ego boost from crossing levels, like in a video game. But the evolution of a dating culture that has made women into trophies to be won will happen in due course of time. Men are open to the idea of being asked out, but they are still clueless how to deal with it. Blame it on our residual ideologies. Not just Indian men, but women too need to get more comfortable with the idea of discarding the roles of the pursued and the pursuer in dating. *Some names have been changed to maintain anonymity.

The Unbearable Loneliness Of Fading Royalty In The Modern World: The Death Of Prince Ali Raza

Prince Ali Raza, who had claimed to be the last surviving Oudh prince, recently passed away. Living alone in the ruins of a 14-century Tughlaq era hunting lodge in the heart of Delhi, he led a reclusive life and died a lonely death. When his body was found in the now-worn-down ruin that came to be called as Malcha Mahal, a table had been set for his mother, Princess Wilayat Mahal, who had committed suicide by swallowing her diamonds in 1993. Prince Ali Raza told BBC journalist Justin Rowlatt how he always set the table for his mother and filled a glass with fresh water every day, long after her death. Prince Ali Raza photographed at Malcha Mahal, where he lived for over 30 years. © BBC The dining table at Malcha Mahal © BCCL The days of the nawabs had long been over, but the pride and sentiment takes a lot longer to fade away. When an older order crumbles, it's more than just power and wealth that go down. The British occupation of India saw empires turn to dust, old systems challenged, ancestral wealth drained and older hierarchies replaced with new ones. In post-Independence India, aristocracy found itself struggling to adjust to the new order. A person's worth in the social order was more important than his birth and lineage was not the only way to climb the social ladder.  Aristocracy was dying and, for royals, it was more tumultuous than Independence itself. There were some who were able to adjust and build a new life for themselves in the new world. The Rajputs displayed their impressive vintage car collections, put family heirlooms in museums, turned their massive palaces into hotels and invited the world to live the royal life by proxy for a while.

She had claimed to be a direct descendant of the famous Awadh king, Wajid Ali Shah, and asked for a compensation from the then-government for the lost wealth and property confiscated by the British power. The veracity of the claim was challenged by the descendants of Wajid Ali Shah and Wilayat Mahal was branded an impersonator.  Wajid Ali Shah was the last ruler of Awadh, and a famous patron of the arts. Poet, playwright and dancer himself, he was an artist more than a ruler. Awadh resounded with the sound of music and ghazals in his reign, but the same merriment in the pleasures of art led to his downfall. He was exiled by the British in 1854 over accusations of a 'debauched' and 'lawless' lifestyle and regime.
Prince Ali Raza and his sister Princess Sakina © BCCL The weight of dying aristocracy is often too heavy to bear. With an ancestral pride and a distrust of a world in which hierarchies are blurred, the reality of the aristocrat becomes more and more befuddled. Princess Mahal's insistence on being awarded a palatial house was part of this befuddled identity. It was an attempt to preserve the leftover pride of an aristocracy that had long withered. It was this pride, mixed with a sense of entitlement, that she was to pass on to her children, particularly Prince Ali Raza, who preferred to spend his days alone within the dark walls of a crumbling monument that he called home, rather than let the world in. Mixing with commoners was not an option.  The Indira Gandhi government had offered them a house in Lucknow, which Princess Mahal had refused—Delhi was the city she wanted to live in. The offer of a DDA flat was also turned down. The last descendants of the Awadh lineage would not stay in a house meant for commoners. After a 9-year protest by the Begum, the government relented and offered them Malcha Mahal, the 600-year-old hunting lodge from the Tughlaq era.
Malcha Mahal as seen from outside © BCCL Hidden amidst a dense forest in Lutyens' Delhi, Malcha Mahal was in ruins, inhabited by animals of the wild kind and without any doors or windows. Wilayat Mahal accepted it and the place came to be called 'Wilayat Mahal'. A board was hung outside that said “Ruler of Oudh” and also warned people of terrible consequences if they trespassed the property. It is believed that the family had come with 15 ferocious bloodhounds who guarded them against the prying eyes of the world.  One of the rooms at Malcha Mahal © BCCL Life in the dilapidated remains they called Mahal was not easy. There were no electricity and water connections. The ISRO space station provided them with a water connection later, just about enough for survival. A royal family living in the ruins of a monument, fiercely guarded by their canines, is one of the most intriguing yet well-kept secrets of Delhi. After his mother committed suicide by swallowing the dust of her crushed diamonds, Ali Raza and his sister Sakina were left to fend for themselves, armed only with an inherited pride and an incapability of dealing with the new world.  © BCCL Ali Raza was sometimes seen cycling to the market to buy groceries and meat for his dogs. He had to sell his family jewels to keep food on the table. In a house with no doors, bare minimum furniture and no electricity, the dining table, with old cutlery elaborately laid out at meal times, was the last attempt to relive the splendor of a life that was no longer there.  When he died, all that was found were letters from journalists who had written to him for interviews, most of which were ignored.  Image for representational purpose only © Flickr_lensnmatter Prince Ali Raza was not alone in his misery. The loneliness of living as fading royalty in a modern world can get unbearable. Wealth and property are easy to take away, not pride and habit.  Raja Briraj Kshatriya Birbar Chamupati Singh Mahapatra, known as the playboy king of India, was the proud owner of an impressive collection of vintage cars, bikes and horses, and lived in a place with 30 servants in his heyday. In his last days, he lived in a mud hut and was dependent on villagers, who were once his subjects, for food. He died penniless and alone.  Call it the curse of royalty, but being born a king at the wrong time was worse than being a king at the right time.  Image for representational purpose only © Flickr_lensnmatter Ms Singh Baghel, who hails from a royal family, says:  “With the new government we were also made irrelevant, and the old Thakur pride had so many notions. Of not working for personal gain; of not being able to discuss money; and so first went the chandeliers, then the silverware, jewels, fine clothes till eventually we sold even our heritage and surname to interviewers and journalists.”  The royal world, as we know it, has its charms and intrigues working for it. The common outsider is fascinated by the tales of valour, pride, luxury and integrity – most of which is true. What the world fails to see is the immense pain this burden of carrying a fading legacy brings with it. Being a royal today comes with the moral obligation towards your past but often without the financial benediction and social acknowledgement.  India lost most of its wealth to colonialism and it's still struggling to be the golden bird it was once known as. When your family history boasts of a similar fate, how do you get past it?  Sources: Raj Shekhar, TNN, “Lonely in life, this Avadh 'prince' died a pauper”  Justin Rowlatt, BBC, “The lonely death of Delhi's jungle prince”   Abhimanyu Singh, The Sunday Guardian, 'The prince takes his bicycle to buy meat for his dogs'  Andrew Marszal, The Telegraph, “India's 'last prince' dies in obscure poverty in a mud hut”

7 Crucial Style Tips For Men Who're 6 Feet (Or Above)

What do tall men like Aditya Roy Kapoor have in common with a Varun Dhawan (for example)—a whole set of sartorial precautions. So clearly, contrary to your assumptions, they're not god-blessed humans in the literal sense. They too, can't get away with wrongdoing as right-doings in life. That said, besides being a genetically-blessed species (or maybe even not), most of them know the art of dressing for their body type. If they're tall, they keep a tailor by their bedside. And if short, don't subject themselves to odd apparel proportions. But that's them; they have a fleet of experts working on them. For men like us, saving for a latte everyday, we definitely need help. So, today, for men who're 6 feet or above in height, here are 7 moves that'll bring you menswear fortune everyday. © Instant Bollywood 1. Break Your Body Up As a lot of global, prolific tall dressers prove, there's a big gain in splitting your top and bottom half of the body. It's simple: by making someone look at your body as two different halves, you're creating distinct lines for the viewer's sight, eventually flattering your height by breaking it up. Masterful trick! © India 2. If You're Wearing The Suit, Go Double-Breasted As it is with God's rule of creating living beings, tall men are blessed with comparatively longer torsos. Result? They're unofficially, the luckiest mascots of the double-breasted suit. Besides adding bulk (in the right amount), they add a lot of definition to your body. And, all without making it appear wider and bigger—you don't want that. 3. If You're Tall But Thin Too, Layer Up. For some, things can really go south with oodles of weight. By piling on extra layers of fabric, we mean. But whatever said, guys who're tall needn't worry here at all. The idea is simple: layering brings along a lot of dimension, depth and focal points to your body, which distracts your viewer away from your height. You're tall, we geddit, no one needs to rub that in the face. © Instant Bollywood 4. Footwear Experiments Creating a point of interest with your choice in footwear is a great way of bringing someone's eyes to your feet. But that's a given. How does it help? Bro, c'mon: it'll help in ensuring you don't look abnormally tall, by keeping the attention on your body very grounded. Instead of a view from top to bottom, the viewer will look at your body from bottom to top—which is great. And on a side note, don't go too clown-y with your shoes anyway. 5. Doesn't Fit You Right? Grab A Tailor Unless your trial room drill is a little too strong or you lean towards bespoke tailoring daily, you need a tailor on speed dial. But this doesn't just apply to men who're tall. Everyone, literally every man on earth, needs to tailor their apparel to fit them right. There's nothing worse than clothes ruining your personality for you. Pay a few bucks, and get things altered! © Instant Bollywood 6. Shoulder Pads, Suspenders, Skinny Ties—No No If you're bulky and tall, you won't think of shoulder padding anyway. But if you're tall and thin, you might end up adding big pads to your jackets/suits. But don't—you don't want get labelled as a try-hard bulker. If nothing, do it in minimal amounts. Plus, since accessories like suspenders add length to your body, keep them at least a mile away. The same goes for skinny ties. 7. Stripes Can Be Tricky. However, Just Look Into The Mirror For Decisions One of the safest prints a man can try on himself, are checks or stripes. Talking of the latter, first off, tall guys should stay away from vertical stripes for sure (you know the reason). But we're not saying horizontal stripes are any good either. That said, that's something you can only ascertain in front of the mirror. So, simple: check yourself out, before you completely wreck yourself.
