Sony Will Be Skipping E3 This Year & Will Not Reveal The PS5 At The Annual Gaming Event

Sony has confirmed in a statement today that the Japanese gaming company will not be attending E3 this year; making it the second year in a row.  E3 is an annual gaming conference and event where new games and consoles were traditionally unveiled by companies like Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo.  Xbox boss Phil Spencer already confirmed on Twitter that the company will be present at the gaming conference this year.  © Youtube_Reuters The statement was given to GamesIndustry.biz and said Sony  "[doesn't] feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year. We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe ... We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans.”  © Youtube_Sony Computer Entertainment In a separate leak, the PlayStation 5 release date unveiling date and price was leaked on 4Chan. Sony's absence from E3 2019 could be a big mistake as E3 is the biggest gaming conference in the world attended by thousands and watched by millions. Skipping E3 could give Xbox the extra edge to connect with its target audience.  Sony had the iconic PS4 presentation at E3 in 2013 which resulted in Sony winning the console wars this generation. It would be interesting to see how fans will react to Sony's absence from E3 this year as well.  © Sony Computer entertainment Sony is rumoured to unveil the PlayStation 5 on February 5th via its 'State of Play' event and we hope to know more about the console officially from Sony in the coming weeks. It is kind of disappointing to see Sony skip E3 this year and the event will focus more on Microsoft and Nintendo this year.   Source: GamesIndustry.biz

Kartik Aaryan Wore Sneakers Inspired By The Black Adder Snake & They Cost Less Than Rs 5K

Kartik Aaryan has never shied away from sartorial experiments, and he can legit claim that he has almost never failed at pulling off anything he has tried. Be it statement jackets or strange sneakers, he has always maintained a playful aesthetic when it comes to his wardrobe. While it may be a popular perception that whatever celebs wear can't be worn by us because they are extremely expensive, Kartik just proved it wrong by wearing a pair of sneakers which are actually affordable. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Kartik Aaryan wore a pair of sneakers that are inspired by the black adder snake. We love how playfully wild they are, thanks to the black and yellow snake-patterned sole. Also, what caught our focus was the price point of the shoes. © Hummel Kartik is wearing the Marathona Black Adder sneakers by Hummel, that costs somewhere around 60 Euros post discount. When converted to INR, it costs about Rs. 4,700. © Hummel The wild soles of the sneakers coupled with the black scaly surface clearly show us the inspiration behind the sneakers, and it doesn't get better when it comes to inspired pieces. © Hummel We're just glad this is one pair we can actually afford.

Here's A Solid Evidence To Prove That Poco F2 Is Launching After All & We're Damn Excited Now

Ever since Xiaomi's POCO F1 became a huge hit, people have been flooding Xiaomi with questions about the next POCO phone. Unfortunately, there was a lot of evidence suggesting that Xiaomi has ditched the brand and we won't be seeing any new phone from POCO. In fact, people had lost all their hopes when Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 and the K20 Pro in India. There was no way Xiaomi was going to compete with their own device. But now, it's a new year, so we're pretty positive about the POCO F2. And thankfully, we have some evidence suggesting that the POCO F2 is happening after all. Yes, we now have some solid evidence that there could be a POCO F2 in 2020. As spotted by a Twitter user who goes by the handle @_the_tech_guy, Xiaomi has filed a trademark application for a device named POCO F2.  Yes, check it out -  #Xiaomi files trademark application for POCO F2

So the POCO series exists and POCO F2 is coming soon .....#xiaomi #pocoPhone #POCOF2 pic.twitter.com/3JDwplv9IJ — _the_tech_guy (@_the_tech_guy) January 11, 2020 The document is a clear indication that the successor is coming. And a similar trademark for "POCO" showed up right before the launch of POCO F1 as well, so we think we're very close to the launch. If it's really happening, then we think the phone will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 SoC. However, it's worth making a note that the Snapdragon 865 is 5G chipset, which means the POCO F2 could be significantly expensive.  But we're not sure about that just yet. The brand could very well launch the phone with a different chipset. © Akshay Bhalla/ MensXP Sadly, that's all we know about this phone currently. We hope to learn more about it very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for more details.

Anushka Takes Plunge Into Cricket, Set To Star In Biopic Of Former Indian Captain Jhulan Goswami

For fans of Anushka Sharma, it will surely be a delight to see her back in the game after a hiatus of more than a year from Bollywood, as she is set to star in a sports biopic based on Indian all-rounder and former captain of the Indian women's cricket team, Jhulan Goswami.  Anushka has stepped into the shoes of the former cricketer and is all set to bring the character to life.  Pictures of the actor, walking besides Goswami at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, have been trending and are going viral on social media.  According to reports, Anushka was at the floodlit stadium to shoot a teaser trailer for the biopic. In August 2018, she announced her retirement from WT20Is. Goswami is also known for both her batting and bowling capabilities. Going by reports, the film is tentatively titled Chakdah Express and will be directed by Prosit Roy, who had previously directed Pari starring Anushka Sharma. It will be exciting to see Anushka play the role of a cricketer on the big screen.

Arjun Kapoor Chilling In A Pair Of White Sneakers With Blue Heels Is An Unexpected Fashion Move

A champion of oversized hoodies and classic suits, Arjun Kapoor has time and again inspired us with his impeccable fashion sense. Not just that, he is also a massive sneakerhead who has sported some zany pair of sneakers. Be it at the airport or the football game, he knows exactly how to garner all the attention. © Viral Bhayani This time around, he was yet again sported making a head-turning statement with an unusual pair of sneakers. The reason why this pair looks offbeat is due to the eccentric platform heel. Now, that's an unexpected fashion move. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani Platform sneakers have been in rage and are still in trend. We have seen many elite B-town stars like Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh sporting this trend. However Arjun's pair, in particular, has a bit of an old school vibe to it but the blue heel totally takes the overall aesthetics a notch higher. © Viral Bhayani As for his outfit, he was seen wearing a blue hoodie by Helmet Lang and further teamed it with raw grey jeans. The ensemble is super chilled out and we love how Arjun stood apart with his heeled sneakers.  We have to say, this fashion move is by the far the best, Arjun. Hats off!

Nakuul Mehta Shows Us How To Stand Out In A Suit That's Chill AF

Even though the Pantone colour for the year 2020 is the Classic Blue, and indeed men look dapper in a blue suit, we cannot help but notice when someone takes the off-beaten path and wears a rather zany colour, and pulls it off so well. © Viral Bhayani Recently, Nakuul Mehta was seen wearing a rather zany neon suit that looked super dapper on him and can outright be legitimately one of the best ways of adding a spark of colour to our otherwise inane wardrobes. © Viral Bhayani Normally, guys like us shy away from wearing such bright and offbeat colours, but the manner in which Nakuul has worn this ensemble goes on to show, that if done in the right way and worn in an interesting manner, the colour neon is a sure shot way to turn heads. © Viral Bhayani The suit that Nakuul is wearing is from Brown Men's Wardrobe, a Delhi-based bespoke menswear label that has some really interesting pieces. We particularly like the way how Nakuul, instead of taking the usual route of letting the legs of his trousers just fall, has rolled it up to his calves and given it a quasi-bohemian appeal. Quite a cool way of reconstructing a suit. © Instagram/nakuulmehta Speaking of legs, we also like that instead of taking the usual route of pairing the neon suit with a pair of chunky white sneakers, Nakuul has gone for a rather simplistic but some seriously dope sneakers. © Instagram/nakuulmehta Because they look rather generic and have a very simplistic silhouette and colour scheme, it does work well with the overpowering colour and nature of the suit, and yet, because they aren't plain white, they do manage to stand out on their own. © Instagram/nakuulmehta All in all, this is a very well thought out and well-rounded ensemble. Well done, Nakuul, a rather cool and zany way to start the year with a bang. Hats off, man.

Ricky Ponting Tips Australia To Beat India In ODI Series, But Can The Aussies Really Do It?

Boasting of some of the most consistent performers in international cricket, the Indian cricket team, over the years, has undeniably established its reputation as one of the strongest sides in the world. Whether it's strong batting line-up or clinical bowling unit, Team India continues to be a dominant force in the world of cricket. Their consistency has been in display in the last eight months or so in what proved to be a dominant home season. Virat Kohli & Co began their packed home season, taking on South Africa who did well to draw the T20I series 1-1. But, the Indian brigade didn't let the Proteas settle down in the Tests where they wrapped the series up 3-0 after inflicting consecutive innings defeat on the visitors in the last two matches. Continuing their fine run, the 'Men in Blue' gave a similar treatment to Bangladesh who lost the Test series 2-0 before suffering another 2-1 heartache in the T20Is. The touring West Indies brigade was next in India's firing line as a rampant Kohli brigade clinched a 2-1 win in both the T20I and ODI series. © Reuters Ending 2019 on a winning note, India kickstarted the new year in a similar fashion when they locked horns with Sri Lanka. After the first T20I was washed off, Team India produced a convincing performance in the 2nd T20I to secure a seven-wicket win at Indore. The third and final T20I saw a similar script with the hosts dominating the proceedings, first, with the willow and, then, with the ball to seal a 78-run win and a 2-0 series triumph.  Team India has, more often than not, proved to be a tough nut to crack for the opposing sides in cricket. And, when the battle is in their own backyard, as witnessed in the past few months, they are generally unbeatable. But, such is the competitive edge in international cricket that nothing, not even a winning streak, is permanent. And, that's exactly what the touring Australian brigade must be thinking going into the three-match ODI series. Australia will be full of confidence after an excellent World Cup and a great summer of Test cricket but India will be keen to redeem themselves from the last ODI series loss against Australia. Prediction: 2-1 Australia https://t.co/r5fIiLNs6Y — Ricky Ponting AO (@RickyPonting) January 12, 2020 Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting feels that his fellow countrymen will be able to get the better of India in their own backyard in what promises to be an exciting ODI series. "Australia will be full of confidence after an excellent World Cup and a great summer of Test cricket but India will be keen to redeem themselves from the last ODI series loss against Australia. Prediction: 2-1 Australia," Ponting said on Twitter during a Q&A session with the fans. But, can the Aussies really do it? Let's take a look at the possibilities. © Reuters First and foremost, going into the upcoming clash, the Australians find themselves in a similar situation, in a similar time of the year. Last February, India, coming off a fairly successful overseas tour, were gearing up to host Australia for two T20Is and a five-match ODI series. For a team that had upstaged Australia in their own backyard months before the series last year, India were undeniably favourites to once again come out on top. However, contrary to popular perception, the hosts were undone by a strong showing from the Aussies who romped their way to a 2-0 win in T20Is. After securing a narrow three-wicket win in the first game, the Australians produced a brilliant batting performance to leave the hosts red-faced with a seven-wicket win in the 2nd T20I. Embarrassed in the shortest format, Kohli & co came back strong in the ODI series, winning two consecutive games to strengthen their position. But, the Aussies were not the one to back down either as they replied to India's challenge with their own back-to-back victories in the next two matches. With the series evenly poised at 2-2, the series decider at Delhi saw India failing to chase a total of 272 runs. A 35-run loss in the fifth ODI eventually saw India losing the ODI series 3-2. If Australia's sensational performance, in a tour that was initially expected to be futile, highlighted the chinks in India's armour at home, the fact that their 3-2 ODI series win was their first in this part of the world in a decade further showed what it meant for the touring team. © Reuters While the losses in T20I and ODI series last year would surely linger in the minds of the Indian players, the other worrying sign for the hosts is Australia's darting run in the recent months. The Australians are coming into the three-match ODI series on the back of a commanding performance at home where they whitewashed Pakistan and New Zealand in the Tests. When you talk about relevance, the upcoming ODI series doesn't really carry much relevance. It's just a three-game affair, acting as a poorly placed punctuation mark in a season of T20 where most of the teams are busy fine-tuning their squads for the ultimate showdown, ICC World T20, Down Under this October. But, the challenge and competitive edge both India and Australia bring to the table makes this a short ODI series an exciting affair. So, can India avenge their loss from last year in the upcoming series, or will it be Australia who'll, once again, spring in a surprise to leave the home fans in sheer disbelief? Well, that's a question which will get answered in days to come.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Might Have More RAM Than Your PC Because, Why Not?

We've said this once in the past and we'll say it again - you don't need more than 8GB of RAM on your phone, at least not yet. But is that stopping phone makers to pack absurd amounts of RAM in your phone? Nope.  In fact, Samsung is said to be launching a new phone which comes with up to 16GB of RAM. 16GB! Although there's no official confirmation on that just yet, it's coming from a fairly reliable source, so we're inclined to believe that it's true. It looks like, Samsung is not holding back when it comes to packing its phone with a ton of features. The phone in question here is the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. Yes, a long name, but it's supposed to be Samsung's super-premium phone with all the bells and whistles.  According to XDA's Max Weinbach, this phone will have some crazy specs, including 16GB RAM and a 108MP camera.  Here, take a look: The S20 Ultra 5G is going to keep the SD Card slot. Support for up to 1TB.

It will also be available in 128GB/256GB/512GB and have a 12GB and 16GB RAM option.

108MP main, 48MP 10x optical, 12MP ultra wide.

5000 mAh battery with 45W option fast charge. 0 to 100% in 74 min. — Max Weinbach (@MaxWinebach) January 13, 2020 Let's break it down one by one, shall we? First off, he says the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G will have an SD card slot with support for up to 1TB expansion. That's not something new because we've already seen that with the Galaxy Note 10 last year.  If you opt for the high-end variant, then you'll essentially have 1.5TB of storage between the internal storage and the SD card. That's again, probably more than what your PC might have. And then there's the fact that it might come with 16GB RAM, which is just as insane as it sounds. What are you going to need all that RAM for? Maybe nothing, but it's good for future-proofing? Say hello to a whole new Galaxy. Unpacked on February 11, 2020 #SamsungEvent pic.twitter.com/ln1pqt2vu7 — Samsung Mobile (@SamsungMobile) January 5, 2020 As for the optics, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is said to sport a 108MP main camera along with a 48MP 10x optical lens and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. That's a kickass setup and we think it'll make the phone very versatile, at least when it comes to the camera. Lastly, he says it'll come with a 5,000 mAh battery with a 45W fast-charge option. With that, the phone will go from 0% to 100% in just over 70 minutes. These are some of the crazy specs, unlike anything we've seen on a new phone. © YouTube/ JGTechBlog After seeing all these rumored specs, we really can't wait to check out the phone. It's also worth pointing out that we're not sure if it'll make its way to India along with the other Galaxy S20 variants.  Looks like, we'll just have to wait and watch what happens. The PlayStation 5's Release Date, Price And Features May Have Leaked & It Already Sounds Exciting

Sony's PlayStation 5 is probably the next big announcement everyone is excited for this year even though we haven't heard much about it. Recently, Sony revealed the logo of the PlayStation 5 which doesn't look much different than the current logo.  However, some details about the console have been made official such as SSD tech, a new DualShock 5 controller, teased backward compatibility and other features.  © Unsplash_alshckaa Having said that, we still need official information from Sony about its features and technical specifications that will probably be shown off at the company's February 'State of Play' event.   Interestingly, a huge leak surfaced on 4Chan that answers some of the questions we've been wanting answers for.  The leak gives us many details such as the release date, price and unique features that Sony is apparently going to reveal soon. If this leak is to be believed, the PlayStation 5 will be revealed on February 5 at a PlayStation meeting to be hosted at the Sony Hall in New York City. The leak mentions, "The console design, controller, UI/home screen, certain features, console specs, talk from third parties/indie publishers, as well as announcements for PS5 exclusives will be shown.” “Buzz words for the console's features include 'little to no load times', 'blazing fast downloads', 'immersive controls', 'modular installs for games, download whatever', 'disc drive included', and 'download the games, or stream the games as an option',” it adds. The pricing of the console was also detailed and is expected to launch at $499 USD / £449 UK / €449 EU / ¥54,999 JP. For Indian customers, expect to add 28% of import duty on the console as India has still not relaxed the duty tariffs for gaming products.  At launch, Sony is launching only one console according to the leak, and it will be as powerful as the Xbox Series X.  © Unsplash The 4Chan user also mentioned that game streaming will be a huge part of Sony's strategy for this generation of gaming. It will come in the form of PlayStation Now where users will get access to games via a subscription fee. Each PS5 purchase will come with a three-month PS Now trial.  Remote play will also be supported on tablets, laptops and desktop machines via a Wi-Fi or cellular connection.  Sony has already tested the backwards compatibility on the PlayStation 5 and the leaker also touched upon this topic. © Unsplashh_RohanVijay The user wrote, “Backwards compatibility with all PS4 games is also a big feature. Through a new transferring features, users will easily transfer their PS4 games to the PS5 if those games are downloaded. Save data/backups for PS4 games will also be transferable.” “Backwards compatibility is such a major feature, that games from all 5 PlayStation platforms (PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, and PS4), will be compatible on PS5, making it an “ultimate PlayStation console”, putting an emphasis on past and present gaming. More details about backwards compatibility will be discussed at a later date,” the information further suggested. The user also noted, “DualShock 4 controllers, PSVR, and other PS4 accessories will be forwards compatible on the console as well, making it easy for existing PS4 to transition to the PS5 as well.” The leaker also mentioned that the PlayStation 5 will be available to pre-order right after the launch event on February 5.  Of course, all of this information is to be taken with a grain of salt; however, if Sony is indeed hosting an event in the coming weeks, we can expect press invitations for the event real soon.  Source: 4Chan

How's The Life Of An Indian Pro Footballer? Anwar Ali Recalls After A 15-Year-Old Career

About 30 kilometers away from the city of Jalandhar, Rurka Kalan is a small village known to produce some of the biggest names of Indian football. The culture, the enthusiasm shared by the locals and the mutual love for the game are essentially why every child in that village can be found dribbling a black and white football through the streets.  35-year-old Anwar Ali was one of those kids who had the dream of making it big in the football world back when he was merely a teenager. He'd thought about going professional and maybe even representing his country in international games one day. Playing for Punjab Police & Move To Professional Football © Twitter Motivated and encouraged by his father and the rest of the family to pursue a career in sports, Ali went on to play for Punjab Police. Getting paid to play and having the security of a government job, he was living the dream, right? Well, not really.  “While I loved playing for Punjab Police, I felt that I still wanted to play as a professional and wanted to play for the nation,” Ali tells MensXP. “And that could not have happened if I continued to play for that team.” They say “where there's a will, there's a way.” One day, while Ali was playing centre back for Punjab Police in the Santosh Trophy tournament, former national coach Sukhwinder Singh was present at the venue and was closely observing the then 20-year-old Ali take away one possession after the other from his opponents.  “Sukhwinder sir used to manage the prestigious JCT club back then,” Ali recalls. “He said that my game was really good and that if I wanted to play for JCT, he was ready to bring me onboard.” Jagatjit Cotton & Textile Football Club or JCT FC was considered to be the best football club in the state of Punjab before it was disbanded in 2011. Its historic significance and the various championships that the team had won in the pastmade every footballer of the state aspire to play in their colours. For Ali, this aspiration came true during the 2005-06 season when he decided to leave Punjab Police, turn professional and join the club. “Leaving a government job like that was obviously a big decision for me but I made up my mind the moment Sukhwinder sir asked me to play for JCT,” says Ali. Self Doubt & Team India Call © Twitter But even though the money was good and the team was also playing well, there was a big question lingering around at the back of the footballer's head: “Did I do the right thing letting go of such a nice job?” The answer to this question came automatically to him within two years of turning professional when he was called to play for India in 2008. “For any athlete, playing for a big club and earning money sure feels enticing but I believe there is nothing bigger than playing for your country,” he says.  When asked to share that one moment that made him feel proud of his decision to become a football player, Ali said “Asia Cup 2011,” without thinking twice. “I remember sitting on a bench wearing my Team India jersey and our national anthem began to play. That was the proudest moment of my life.” Playing Club Football Everywhere In India One other decision that Ali made when he turned professional was to play for clubs all over the country. “I never wanted to spend my entire professional career with one club. I wanted to feel how football was treated in every corner of the world and that's why I'd switch clubs after every season.” "Football has instilled traits in me that help me both on and off the field.." â½

He went to Dempo (Panjim, Goa) in 2009, played for Mohun Bagan between 2010 and 2012 followed by the 2012-13 season with United Sikkim, Mumbai FC (2013-14), Delhi Dynamos (2014-15), Mohun Bagan on loan (2015), Mumbai FC (2016), East Bengal (2017), ATK (2017-18), Mumbai (2018-19) before coming back home to Punjab FC in 2019.  “I loved playing for Punjab but when I got the opportunity to play outside of my state for the first time, I couldn't say no. My move to Goa introduced me to the great football culture that the Goans share,” he says. “But it wasn't until I found myself playing for Mohun Bagan that I realised the level of football professionals played.” “Playing for the Mecca of Indian football taught me to play my natural game under immense pressure. People in Kolkata treat football like a religion and the craze I experienced after playing for such a big club was simply great.” When Life Threw A Wrench In the Works While things were going exactly as planned for the footballer, there was one moment in his life he had never thought of.  During his time with East Bengal in 2017, he felt some sort of discomfort while going home after a practice session. His teammate Gurwinder Singh rushed him to the Medica Superspecialty Hospital on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass where the doctors revealed that Ali had indeed suffered a heart attack.  East Bengal defender Anwar Ali in stable condition after heart attack ðhttps://t.co/NATsZcNwbe pic.twitter.com/LuGB5ZWIde — DNA (@dna) April 25, 2017 “I was admitted for five days before the doctors declared that I was stable. They found no major blockages and couldn't frankly tell me how this had happened,” Ali remembers the horrible experience. His father was in Kolkata when he suffered the attack but Ali decided to hide the truth from him and his family. He knew that if his parents found out about this, the news would get the better of them.  However, as various publications and tabloids started covering the story, it became impossible for him to hide the issue from them. “I still haven't told them the complete story yet,” he jokes.   It has been over three years since the “heart attack” and Ali continues to be equally active and efficient on the field. A Lookback At A 15-Year-Old Career At 35 years of age, Anwar Ali looks back at his career as an Indian football player and there is not a hint of regret in his voice when he summarises his journey.  “I believe my life as a sportsman was the best life I could have asked for. I am lucky to be a footballer. I converted my passion into my profession, got to travel domestically and abroad as well, but most importantly, I got to meet new people every week. Football is more than just a game for me. It has become a way of living. It has taught me patience, accepting defeat and the importance of discipline in my life. Even when I grow old, I can never stop playing football," Ali signs off.

The Oscar nominations are out, and this year, the list is slightly more inclusive and actually looks pretty good, given the fact that a lot of good movies were made in the past year. Here are 5 Oscar-nominated movies we highly recommend you to watch in case you love good content. 1. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Quentin Tarantino's brilliant direction met the genius of Leonadro Di Caprio and Brad Pitt who play fading Western stars in this ode to Hollywood from 1969. Watch it for great acting and good vintage aesthetics.  The movie is running for nominations in categories which include best picture, director, actor, supporting actor, original screenplay, cinematography, costume design, production design, sound editing and sound mixing. 2. Joker The only movie that got the whole world talking like no other movie has done in the longest time. Joaquin Phoenix is the reason to watch this masterpiece and experience it yourself. With over 11 nominations in the running, trust Arthur Fleck's character to be etched in your mind long after you are done watching it. The Irishman This brilliant movie is based on Charles Brandt's book I Heard You Paint Houses, and follows the story of Frank Sheeran (played by Robert De Niro), who claims to  work as a hitman for the Bufalino crime family, and also claims to be responsible for the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino). 'Joker' Receives 11 Nominations For Oscars This Year & People Are Not Happy About It

We all knew Joker was going to kill it this award season, but I don't think anyone expected the movie to get as much as 11 nominations for an Academy Award this year. That is a lot, and just a reminder, it's three more than what The Dark Knight got. While everyone expected, and is also happy, about Joaquin Phoenix getting that extremely-deserved nomination for Best actor, people are still unsure about a few other categories it has been nominated for, especially the Best Director nomination for Todd Philips. But, the criticism for the nominations doesn't end there. Here are all the nominations, can you figure out why people are upset? Here's Best Picture: Congratulations to the Best Picture nominees! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/Wqgdoe62Gs — The Academy (@TheAcademy) January 13, 2020 Best Director: Congratulations to the Directing nominees! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/wAnN2RM6Ld — The Academy (@TheAcademy) January 13, 2020 Best Actor: Congratulations to the Leading Actor nominees! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/juoOEIpG7X — The Academy (@TheAcademy) January 13, 2020 Best Actress: Congratulations to the Leading Actress nominees! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/LSz3nymNVY — The Academy (@TheAcademy) January 13, 2020 Remember when Marvel submitted the entire cast of Endgame for Oscars? Well, at least they got one nomination. Congratulations to the Visual Effects nominees! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/XpsELPkZ1u — The Academy (@TheAcademy) January 13, 2020 This one seems interesting: Congratulations to the Original Screenplay nominees! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/ZORIZfEtcO — The Academy (@TheAcademy) January 13, 2020 This, too: Congratulations to the Adapted Screenplay nominees! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/FkrpYXgKII — The Academy (@TheAcademy) January 13, 2020 And, here's where you can find all the other nominations. Coming back to the criticism, did anyone get it? Yep, it's the same old 'Oscars so white' story again, and this time, people feel like Greta Gerwig was robbed off a Best Director nomination for Little Women. So basically, Oscar is just apparently white and male. Moreover, The Lighthouse just got one nomination when people were actually rooting for Robert Pattinson and William Dafoe, and Uncut Gems was completely missing. Another surprising performance left out was of Taron Egerton in Rocketman. Joker, however, is leading in both the number of nominations this year as well as making people unhappy about how many other movies got snubbed and how Joker got preference. Hmm. "Three of the four most-nominated movies—The Irishman, Joker, and Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood—are stories about white men who feel culturally imperiled. The fourth, 1917, is about white men who are literally imperiled." https://t.co/xL6TviHpSO — Anne Helen Petersen (@annehelen) January 13, 2020 People are just not happy with Joker. thoughts on oscar nominees:
-great to see jojo rabbit up for so much
-for soma as best doc is great
-no acting nods for parasite is ignorant
-no lupita nyong'o is chaos
-no farewell is deeply sad
-no uncut gems is madness
-we all have to realise joker was a piece of shit — David Farrier (@davidfarrier) January 13, 2020 Some people are just enjoying the chaos. Whether or not Joker wins any of the Oscars it's nominated for, it still broke film Twitter. They are in shambles, and at the end of the day, that's what really matters. Cheers. pic.twitter.com/yCsxTCXks6 — Watch Deputy on Fox, you f*cks (@WeirdNPissdOff) January 14, 2020 I still can't believe people are upset about Adam Sandler getting snubbed. Can't believe the Joker got all those Oscar noms. Would gladly have those 2 hours back.

Would have gone Greta over Phillips and J-Lo over Bates. Robbie got nominated for the wrong movie - should have been for Once Upon.

Sandler was top-5 but I can't figure out who goes. Leo? — Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) January 13, 2020 Maybe. JOKER does not deserve as many Oscar nominations as TITANIC. — Amy Nicholson (@TheAmyNicholson) January 13, 2020 To put things in perspective. If Joaquin wins the Oscar, the character of the Joker will have more acting Oscars (2) than women have directing Oscars (1). — Caroline Siede (@CarolineSiede) January 13, 2020 The shade, tho. i don't understand why mcu stans are angry at joker getting 11 oscar nominations. like don't be mad, the mcu's time to shine will come. the kids and teen choice awards are in a few months. patience is key. — tricia ð¦ (@skywalkerwayne) January 13, 2020 Joaquin Phoenix for sure deserves the Oscar. People need to stop saying Joker doesn't deserve any #OscarNoms!

Joqauin Phoenix played one of the hardest roles in cinema history, and he nailed it.

The combo of Joqauin and director Todd Philips made Joker a cinematic masterpiece, and they both deserve Oscar nominations. pic.twitter.com/EGfFgDSyFS — The Mark (@The_Mark117) January 13, 2020

Kerala Govt Schools Are Teaching Kids How To Spot Fake News On Social Media & That's Education

With the newly-implanted government policies, a lot of people are coming out on to the streets to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens (CAA & NRC) in full swing. The environment is a bit grim as some protests have been successful while many have been intervened by the Delhi Police, who have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.  Amidst all this, when the country is going through a sensitive emotional upheaval, there is a heavy chance you'll come across 'fake news' that will put you in a state of panic, in an already intense scenario. © Twitter Now, what is fake news? Well, according to a school that is teaching children to identify fake news, this is what it is: “Fake news is completely false information, photos or videos, intentionally created and spread, to confuse the public, spread mass panic, provoke violence and get attention,”  This is the given definition on one of the slides of a PowerPoint presentation being shown to students at Amritha Vidyalayam in Kannur, as reported by Beebom.  Yes, they're teaching children in 150 government schools in Kannur district of Kerala on how to spot fake news when you see it, and we can't think of anything more progressive than this. Kerala is literally waging a war against fake news and this initiative known as 'Satyamev Jayate', was started by the Kannur District Collector Mohammed Ali. Fake news in Kerala is very common and is mostly propagated through Whatsapp forwards. Over the last few months, a lot of people have been lynched in Kerala over the suspicion of being child traffickers. Of course, there is a lot of paranoia in the air due to this and that's only been created by fake Whatsapp forwards that have been incessantly doing the rounds.  Not just fake news on lynching but Kerala floods-related fake news has also done the rounds, instilling fear and panic among people. While nothing drastic can be done to stop the circulation of fake news, this initiative taken by Kannur is a step in a positive direction for sure! © The Logical Indian Due to the constant circulation of fake news, the DC of Kannur, Mir Mohammed Ali has started a rather unique initiative called 'Satyamev Jayate', which literally mean truth alone triumphs. The initiative is mostly about teaching children the importance of truth and making the circulation of fake news absolutely obsolete. The initiative will educate school children on what fake news is, how it's dangerous and what can be done to curb it. “It is basically a training program for students to inculcate certain characteristics in them, to impart certain values in them. We want to encourage them to be more sceptical about the kind of information which is available on the internet and how to differentiate between what is true, what is false”, Mir Mohammed Ali told the Logical Indian in an interview. “We have to take sides here and being neutral is not an option when people around you are spreading fake news. If you are neutral, it means you are automatically siding with the false narrative,” he added. The program ideally targets students in grades 8-12th, which is important because at this age children become quite tech-savvy and mostly even have mobile phones to communicate with. “The  was inaugurated on June 13. We have one teacher each from 150 government schools in the district. These teachers would undergo a month-long training and they would then go back and teach their students the same. In fact, we have already conducted a half-day training for the teachers.” Mr Ali said. © Twitter The program teaches kids to identify 'click-bait' material, something they can easily fall trap to. So, a few exercises are implanted for them to recognise what is click-bait on the internet and what isn't. Another thing they're thought is the concept of a filter bubble. Which means, if you spend a lot of time on the internet, you will slowly start 'encountering news that favours your point of view'. If people know a certain section of people are in favour of something, they tend to take advantage by advocating for what they're in favour of, and fake news can be born out of that too. So, basically what the program does is it lay down a few pointers for students to check whether certain information or news received by them via social media is fake or genuine, so they can do the needful, which is to dispose of any form of fake news they read. They are even encouraged to post correct information to counter the fake news, after thorough research, of course. © Twitter While this program was initiated in July last year, its relevance has increased over the last few months and we need this implemented, not just in schools but everywhere, due to the current political scenario in the country.  We just hope people learnt to distinguish right from wrong, especially in sensitive times like these, when false information can really make a home for itself in someone's thought process, if it's not countered properly. With inputs from The Logical Indian

Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' Gets 4.6 Rating On IMDb Amid Controversy But 82% On Rotten Tomatoes

Earlier, people were complaining about Bollywood celebrities not taking a stand on critical issues. But, when Deepika Padukone took a stand, she was widely criticised and her movie Chhapaak suffered a major blow. When Deepika Padukone went to JNU and silently stood next to the students protesting against the attack that left many students injured; most people said that this is nothing but a "cheap publicity stunt" to promote her upcoming movie Chhapaak. So much so, that people made the hashtag #BoycottChhapaak trend on social media. © Fox Star Studios If people think her decision to show solidarity with the students was for publicity, it has clearly not worked in her favour. At least the movie's not-so-good box-office collection, and those 'Gold A10, A8, A9' seats that got cancelled again and again can vouch for the same. In fact, looks like people dislike Deepika so much that they gave the movie 4.6 rating on IMDb. Out of 10,501 users, over 5900 people gave a 1-star rating to the movie, not because the movie is bad, but because they're angry that Deepika went to JNU. However, the movie got 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. © IMDb People, however, smell foul play and have come forward in support of Deepika. Never underestimate the power of sad men in large numbers, rejected by women, who suddenly find an ideology that encourages hate. pic.twitter.com/da8Exiw9QP — Agrima Joshuað®ð³ (@Agrimonious) January 13, 2020 IMDB ratings for #Chhapaak 4.2/10
Its a shame that such a brilliant movie based on a great social cause is getting eclipsed by parochial mindsets. — Shashank Kataria (@shaan0098) January 11, 2020 Quick quiz: What percentage of people have rated #Chhapaak on IMDB without watching it? pic.twitter.com/9YvartwMj5 — Mohit Bansal (@mbansal14) January 11, 2020 Bhakts at it again. #Chhapaak is 4.3 on IMDB. Compare this to Tanhaji which is 9.0 currently. What else can you expect from such lowlifes? pic.twitter.com/A85p2ByccA — Vishal Agnihotri (@Dilliwasi) January 11, 2020 #Bhakts seem to have attacked the IMDb ratings of #Chhapaak as well; the reviews look diametrically opposed. I think this is better than a 4.2 rated movie. Maybe if more real ratings come in then it would show... Anyway, I'm a fan @deepikapadukone and will watch the movie soon — Nikhil (@specialordinary) January 11, 2020 Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, that was released on the same day and is being constantly compared to Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, got 8.7 on IMDb.   Deepika Padukone plays an acid attack survivor in Chhapaak that also stars Vikrant Massey and is based on the life of Laxmi Aggarwal.

Drunk Woman's Bomb Hoax Made The Flight Return To Kolkata Proving 'Drink & Fly' Should Be Banned

Away from what's happening the country currently, we have something rather strange to bring to your attention. An AirAsia Mumbai-bound flight from Kolkata was forced to return back to the airport after a woman threatened to blow it up, claiming to be a human bomb. Yes, you read that right! After 40 mins of take off, when the flight was in the air, the 25-year-old woman from Salt Lake, Kolkata, handed over a note to the cabin crew, which said she had a bomb strapped to her and she was unable to dispose it off and that it could detonate at any moment. Now, one can only imagine the panic that hit the cabin crew and other officials on the aircraft. The note was brought to the pilot who alerted the Air Traffic Controller (ATC), which directed him to return to Subash Chandra Bose International Airport for an emergency landing. © Twitter "The ATC had declared full emergency at that time. As soon as the aircraft landed at the airport, it was taken to the isolation bay at 11.46pm," the pilot stated in an interview with a popular publication. But fortunately for everyone on board, no bombs were found on the woman after a thorough check up and it turned out she was in an inebriated state and had made up the bomb story, to maybe scare people. Who knows what her intentions were, as long as they didn't see the light of day, right? Obviously, the passenger was taken into custody by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the aircraft was also searched thoroughly with no bombs to be found anywhere. Seems like the woman let loose her imaginative streak and had a really dark trip altogether, in her inebriation. The woman in question has been identified as Mohini Mondol and she's still in custody. "An investigation has been initiated and we are also talking to her family members to find out why she was going to Mumbai," a police officer informed various publications. The officer also added that the woman wanted to return to Kolkata so she made up the story for the plane to return. Well, if she hadn't put 114 passengers and the cabin crew in a state of distress, I would say she should definitely join politics! © BCCL "AirAsia India operations coordinated with Kolkata ATC to initiate an immediate landing in Kolkata. Post landing, the aircraft was secured with the assistance of airport security staff and all the protocols were followed by the concerned agencies and the individual in question was detained," an AirAsia spokesperson made a statement to the press, after the incident took place. We're really glad nothing 'explosive' happened and everyone onboard was safe and sound after all. Well, everyone except the woman who created the panic and we hope airlines are a little more strict with their protocols and procedures to ensure passengers who're under any form of intoxication shouldn't be allowed to board, in the first place.

Pullela Gopichand Shares What Led To The 'Bitter Rivalry' Between PV Sindhu & Saina Nehwal

When you look at Pullela Gopichand, you would straight away find out how simple and genuine the man really is. Having brought a series of laurels for the nation during his days as an active shuttler, there is not an ounce of arrogance in him. Composed and never the one to make any controversial comments, Gopichand is all about staying behind the scenes and letting his work talk for him. So when he decided to open up about things going south between two of his best students and the face of modern badminton in India, it was definitely a surprise.  In his upcoming book titled "Dreams of a Billion: India and the Olympic Games," the national head coach has spoken at length about what went wrong in his relationship with 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal and how he wished things would have gone in a different direction.  Saina to train with former India coach Vimal Kumar, leaves Gopichand - http://t.co/GQqBkd8cuJ pic.twitter.com/kqxEQ2ALJC — Rajneeti News (@RajneetiNews) September 2, 2014 In one of the chapters in the book titled "Bitter Rivalry", the former All-England champion expresses his thoughts of Nehwal leaving his academy in Hyderabad following the 2014 World Championship and joining Indian legend Prakash Padukone's institution to train under Vimal Kumar in Bengaluru. "It was as if something very dear was being taken away from me. Earlier, I had literally begged her (Saina) not to go. But by then she had been influenced by others and had already made up her mind. While I didn't want to hold her back and stall her progress, I knew this was something that wasn't beneficial for either of us," Gopichand revealed in the book. Essentially, it was Nehwal who believed that Gopichand considered a younger PV Sindhu his priority and felt neglected around the upcoming star who shared her hometown with the coach. © Reuters "Yes, I indeed had other players to look after and Sindhu had made serious progress in the two years between 2012 and 2014. But I had never intended to neglect Saina. May be I wasn't able to convey this to her," said the former World rank No. 5. Gopichand also went on to talk about how upset it made him when Padukone, U. Vimal Kumar or Olympic former Olympian Viren Rasquinha didn't try to make Nehwal rethink this radical decision of hers and instead encouraged her to move out of Hyderabad.  "May be Viren or Vimal or Prakash sir could have spoken to her. I don't know why they didn't. In fact, they encouraged her to leave Hyderabad. It is a mystery to me why Prakash sir has never said anything positive about me while I have always looked up to him as my role model.” Two years after moving out of Gopichand's academy, Saina had a horrible run at the 2016 edition of the Olympics when she got eliminated from the quadrennial tournament in the early stages and carried a career-threatening knee injury back home from Rio de Janeiro. Rio Olympics: Saina Nehwal Blames Knee Injury For Her Ouster https://t.co/oUD1qwCVmj pic.twitter.com/bJANBJGyHk — Veejay Singh (@SinghVeejay) August 14, 2016 "It was clearly the worst phase in her life. She had lost early in the Olympics and it had wasted months and years of hardwork. Gopi sir wasn't with her anymore and she was soon to have surgery to get things back on track... She didn't really know what to do," Arjuna Award winner and Saina Nehwal's husband Parupalli Kashyap remembers her struggling days. Letting go of her insecurities of the past, Nehwal made a career-decision of reuniting with Gopichand after securing the World Championships bronze in 2017. I would like to thank Vimal Kumar sir for all the support ððð¥ pic.twitter.com/9WRRsD1aVa — Saina Nehwal (@NSaina) August 31, 2017 "My wife is a perfect Haryanvi Jatni, if you know what I mean. She is just too headstrong and proud. She desperately wanted to go back to Gopi sir and say sorry. She needed him badly but she was too stubborn to admit it and open to him," Kashyap admits. It is funny how a little bit of misunderstanding can create such rifts in a relationship. The duo of Gopichand and Nehwal seemed to be unbreakable back in the day but boy were we wrong. While Nehwal went on to win five titles during her time in Bengaluru and even went on to become World No. 1 in April 2015, the shuttler believed that it was time for her to go back to the coach who trained her from scratch.

With that, it's the world's fastest driverless bullet train in operation in the world right now. © Getty Images The route drastically reduces the travel time from the capital city to the main skiing event area from three hours to less than one. Heck, some of them even complete the 108-mile journey in just 45 minutes, which is ridiculously fast. The trains are said to start and stop at various stations automatically depending on the schedule. Although it's a fully autonomous train, there'll be a monitoring attendant in the train in case of an emergency.  The entire project took four years to complete and has a total of 10 stations. The best part about the train, besides its speed, of course, is its features that are available on-board. It comes with storage areas for winter sports equipment, wireless chargers, and the seats are fitted with 5G-enabled touchscreen control panels. It also has real-time safety sensors on-board because that's important for a train travelling at such high speeds. © Chine Nouvelle/Sipa/Rex Also, there'll be facial recognition tech and robots to assist passengers with boarding, directions, check-in, baggage, and more at the stations. If that's not cool enough for you, then we don't know what is! Source: The Guardian

'Kiwi On Pizza' Is Now A Thing & Looks Like Donald Trump May Not Be The Reason For World War 3

Just when we thought we've seen everything and there's nothing left that will force us to clean our eyes with dettol, a Danish pizzeria came around and proved us wrong. We all love experimenting with food, but honestly, people should really know where to stop. Adding an extra pack of oregano seasoning or chilli flakes is fine. Having a bowl of fruit along with a pizza is also fine. But, putting kiwi fruit on pizza is NOT fine. It's disgusting and disrespectful towards both pizza and kiwi. © Reddit People are not even finished fighting over pineapple pizza and this Danish restaurant gave people a new battle to fight. I guess now the 'pineapple pizza' haters will join hands with those who love it to fight this monstrosity of a dish.   Recently, a photo of the pizza was shared on Reddit and was called "an unholy abomination" and since then people have lost their shit. You're more responsible for kiwi on pizza than Trump is for Iran shooting down an airliner. I@ just using modern media logic. — A Box of Rocks (@ABoxOfRocks23) January 13, 2020 NFW. Pineapple on pizza is a crime and so is this.
I make a killer fruit salad with a layer of kiwis on top but not pizza!! — Waginator (@the_waginator) January 13, 2020 we've been so worried about pineapple we didn't even think to ask if kiwi belongs on pizza

...which it does — Alanðï¸SEVENMILES (@sevenmilestv) January 13, 2020 That's an abomination for sure too. It's ok. There's a pineapple pizza section in hell. Add kiwi and anything else that doesn't belong on pizza in that same section in hell. — ð¦ King Scorp ð¦ (@PeteyRock07) January 13, 2020 Lol...I stand by it. Besides, which is worse, ketchup or kiwi on pizza? — David Vainqueur (@True_Canuck1) January 13, 2020 Like kiwi on a regular #PIZZA? Seems like it would be “runny” but. I'd have to try it! — Posty™ [Loa of Pizza] (@Postsemreh) January 13, 2020 Kiwi belongs on pizza just like pineapple belongs on pizza. In other words, it doesn't. Don't ruin pizza. — Mia Wiens (@warasaur) January 13, 2020 ''911 this is an Emergancy, this ''human being'' is putting kiwi on pizza'' — Ronan vd meer (@ColdBloodRonan) January 12, 2020 The pineapple on pizza debate is quite stupid. I'm all for anyone should eat whatever they want ... but I'm convinced that, if you eat this shit you must be a serial killer.

Like WTF IS KIWI PIZZA ?! 𤢠pic.twitter.com/1N8fgIp4Aq — Salina de la Renta (@salinadelarenta) January 12, 2020 However, there are many who are willing to try this kiwi pizza and we think it's really brave of them. But, this is not the first time people tried to brutally destroy a pizza. Earlier, people have put bananas and gulab jamun on pizza too.
