Boys From Khalsa College Perform Bhangra Amidst Snowfall In Solang Valley & We Love Their Energy

We've seen all sorts of strange videos doing the rounds on the internet ever so often that we're almost immune to them now. Some of them make sense even while they're strange and some of them are utterly senseless, with no real context. But the strange ones that make sense are another league apart altogether and are the ones with the maximum recall value. We have one such example amidst us. A video on Facebook has recently gone viral and everyone's either talking about it or sharing it on social media, only because it's that fantastic. A group of college boys from Khalsa College, Amritsar perform Bhangra in the middle of snow covered Solang Valley in Himachal Pradesh, and we think this is a bit strange and phenomenal all at once. The viral clip of men doing Bhangra on the Punjabi song Sahiba by SimranKaur Dadhli during heavy snowfall is quite daring to be honest. Braving the cold for a dance, that too Bhangra is definitely a daring act and we can't stop watching this video already!  Check out the video here In the video the group can be seen dancing even while it's snowing and the enthusiasm they exude while doing the steps is why this video is definitely worth the watch. It also looks quite scenic and aesthetic, with Solang's picturesque view. The video was posted by the Bhangra and Jhumar group of the Amritsar Khalsa college on their page on Facebook and it managed to garner over 255k views, 2.9k likes and 260 comments so far.  Their performance has garnered a lot of positive comments on social media about their 'josh' and overall enthusiasm. Well, this is the spirit young students should have nowadays along with the enthusiasm to discover and try new things. Well, in this case, they've definitely discovered how to dance in snow, after trying it out and succeeding in it so smoothly.

5 'Sad' Movies Which Eventually End With A 'Happy Ending'

Not all movies that are deep in nature need to end on a sad note. Catharsis is sure a brilliant literary device which many movies use brilliantly as they make the audience cry and feel bad for the protagonist, but some sad movies do have a happy ending. Here are 5 movies which have a sob story but do end on a happy note. 1. Room A heartbreaking, life-affirming movie which follows the story of a mother and her young kid who, after years of confinement in a small room, manage to taste freedom. The movie makes you feel claustrophobic, sad and just uneasy at the same time but the ending gives you hope. 2. Masoom If this movie has not given you âthem feelsâ and made you drop a tear or two, then I donât know what else can or will. A small boy looking for his father and wanting to be accepted in a family he loves is what this movie is about. The movie will make you question how life can sometimes be cruel but the ending reminds you that eventually good things happen to good people.  3. Shawshank Redemption It is one of the best movies of all time and once you watch it, you will understand why. The story is based on a banker who is sentenced to life imprisonmetnt after being accused of murdering his wife and her lover. The ending with Red and Andy being together explains that when we think life has nothing to offer, it often surprises us with something much bigger.  4. Kabir Singh One of the most controversial movies of 2019 but also a sad one if one may call it. A bright doctor takes the help of alcoholism as a coping mechanism for his lost love. While the character is problematic in parts, one does feel sorry for his sad and traumatic state. When the two unite in the end, one does feel happy for them. True love does exist.  5. Tamasha Trust Imtiaz Ali to express emotions and show anyoneâs sentiments like no one else can make that happen. Two people trying to make a relationship work with different views in life. You feel sad for Ved but also relate to him on an intimate level. Eventually, when the two unite as his struggle to find his âtrue selfâ ends on a happy note, all is well in the end.

Gucci's FW 2020 Collection Begs The Question If Androgynous Fashion Is Just A Fancy Label Now

Every fashion label longs for that one genius that would set the tone that their legacy takes. For Chanel and Fendi, it was the legendary mastermind, Karl Lagerfield. For Dolce & Gabbana, it was Stefano Gabbana. For YSL, it was Tom Ford. And it seems for the upcoming decade at least, it will be Alessandro Michele for Gucci. © Reuters Having spent a better part of the decade with Gucci in some role or the other, Alessandro's vision to take Gucci towards an environment that is even more inclusive of diversity and varying creativity, has resulted in some rather spectacular moments, with the gender-fluid or gender-neutral path that they have elected to go for, being one of them. However, it hasn't been a completely smooth sailing for them. © Reuters It's been five years since Alessandro took the helm of the Italian luxury brand. Yes, a few guffaws and quite a few faux pas were made. Remember, the controversial sweater, the one with a literal monkey face, that Gucci put up? Or the fact that some of their pieces were inspired by straight jackets, in 2019, a year that saw a very fervourous conversation around mental health, especially considering how Todd Phillips' Joker, released just a month after their guffaw, dealt with? © Reuters All said and done, if there has been one thing that the Florentine ateliers of Gucci have pushed out time and again, it is perspective. Gender fluid or androgynous fashion has been a theme that many fashion houses have dabbled with. In fact, ever since Alessandro took over Gucci, back in 2015, Gucci has often showcased most of their collections in fashion shows, by using cross-dressing as a statement-making tool.  Case in point would be their Fall-Winter collection back in 2015. The collection, even though it dealt with a subject that was considered much more tabooed, was well thought out and indeed tastefully done. The pieces that were shown, were indeed androgynous and seemed to push the proverbial envelope. © Reuters Cut to 2020, and we see a remarked difference in the approach. Individually, the pieces that were showcased were spectacular and indeed statement pieces unto themselves, something that people expect from Gucci and Alessandro at this point. What did come across as a little jarring would be the manner in which they were showcased. What was disconcerting was the fact that there were instances where some of the ensembles seemed as if they had nothing to do with androgynous fashion, or gender-fluid fashion for that matter, but were an attempt to create a spectacle.  © Gucci © Gucci © Gucci © Gucci No wonder post the Milan Show, people were genuinely left wondering if 'androgynous fashion' and 'gender-fluid' fashion have been reduced to fancy labels to stay woke? © Gucci The sad truth is, toxic masculinity, and the perception of emasculation that all things feminine represent, is a problem, and nowhere else it is as clearly put on display as it has been in clothes and fashion, even though this dichotomy at times falls flat on its face in this sphere? As sad as it may be, there still is a long way to go for this duality to be put to rest, and this binary that we have in fashion will become redundant. Is it a surprise then, that almost all major fashion houses, be it Prada, Dior, and Burberry have massively amped up their product range, as well as the production of luxury menswear items? Luxury Menswear, after all, is an exponentially growing segment of the market. © Gucci With that said, whether Gucci is indeed being esoteric or is it just another example of a fashion label that is using these terms for coming across as woke, for the sake of being woke; Gucci's endeavours in the past have pushed the envelope continuously and tried to be the harbingers of a society that is androgynous.  © Gucci Just take a look at the Lyst Index, a quarterly ranking of the 'It' brands and products in fashion, and you'll see that in the last eight quarters, Gucci has always been in the top three spots, and held the lead for a considerably long time. Since 2018, specifically, Gucci has been the hottest brand in fashion and was only deposed of its thrown by Off White & Balenciaga in the 3rd quarter of 2019.  © Gucci We're sure that with this collection, Gucci surely is going to jump to the top yet again. Because whatever they seem to be doing, it seems they know what works for them. All said and done, the pieces they make, like we said, are indeed statement worthy.  © Gucci So come what may, people, men and women alike, are still going to flock to Gucci stores all around the world, for their washed-out baggy denim jeans, and boxy wool suits, and their murses. People who can afford them, that is. Or at the very least, they will crop up in some form or the other in fast fashion outlets like Zara, or H&M, where they will be flying off of the shelves.  © Gucci The question remains though, where does that leave Gucci in this scenario, where there is a clear distinction between the runway and the racks? Is it going to cater to the esoteric runway, the similar and familiarity that people expect from the rack, or does the answer lie somewhere in between? That remains to be seen.

Badass Shopkeeper Chasing Robber Away Yelling 'Teri Pehn Di' Is The Most Punjabi Thing We've Seen

Getting robbed would probably be one of the most terrifying experiences ever, that is if you're not a Punjabi. No offence. But, I'm not making this up, there's proper proof to back this up and the video of the entire thing is hilarious, and probably the most Punjabi thing anyone will ever see. Basically, a guy tried to rob a convenience store but got chased away with a metal rod by the Sikh shopkeeper while he abused him in Punjabi. Great tactic. Should work every time. In the video, the shopkeeper got up to greet the 'customer' and then remained completely calm when the man was trying to rob him. The best part, though, is him saying 'anything else?' when the robber demanded all the money in the cash register. But, of course, he reached for a metal rod instead of the money and chased the guy away while yelling 'teri pehn di'! Look at how calm he was. My cousins get mugged and he's the calmest guy in the world ð¤£ð¤£just listen to him #teripehndi pic.twitter.com/Fua1mLTMcP — Harmit Arora (@harmit360) January 14, 2020 Same energy. Lol this reminded me of when a couple of guys with machetes came to rob my father's warehouse. He was sweeping the floor at the time. He snapped the broom in half & chased them down the road, roaring at them to stand & fight. He used to keep nun-chuks behind the counter too. https://t.co/h91Mg0ooTZ — Kashaan کاشا٠(@RealKWB) January 15, 2020 So polite, what a guy! He goes “anything else” like he was talking a subway order — Pastor Fred (@kiiranjjeet99) January 15, 2020 For sure. A king. https://t.co/e5gQMgeCta — Jassið (@jassi908) January 15, 2020 Good resolution. Oi dil kush kardeta Punjab de sheera# — Owais Ul nissar (@OwaisNissar) January 16, 2020 One can hope. Just clocked that the robber will see this and think what a fool he's made of himself ð¤£ð¤£ð¤£ — Harmit Arora (@harmit360) January 15, 2020  He should've. Shame he didn't whack him over the head. Calm as a cucumber though. — Ayaz (@Ayaz_Nazir) January 15, 2020 Great video. Kartik Aaryan's 'Diamond' Sneakers Are Almost As Expensive As Real Diamonds

One thing that sets Kartik Aaryan apart from other B-town celebrities is his relatable fashion sense. The latest instance where he wore a pair of sneakers worth Rs. 5,000 proves that he likes to hoard brands that are not just affordable but also easy for all of us to cop. © Viral Bhayani Another thing that's absolutely fascinating about Kartik is the fact that he can pull off anything. Be it a pair of hi-top sneakers with straps and pins or his casual ensembles, he knows how to keep up his fashion game.  Take a look at his recent fashion experiment where he was spotted with Sara Ali Khan in a zany pair of sneakers that look nothing like the usual ones he wears. Check it out here © Viral Bhayani © Jimmy Choo Kartik stepped out wearing Jimmy Choo's Diamond Trail Sneakers. Speaking of its construction, this pair looks aesthetically quite pleasing with its edgy toggle fastening and holographic inserts. Furthermore, these sneakers have a chunky rubber sole. These fashion-forward sneakers revved up Kartik's repertoire to new heights. © Jimmy Choo These Diamond sneakers are worth Rs. 64,000. Mind you, this excludes customs and import duties as this pair isn't available in India. Now, when you compare the overall price of these sneakers to diamonds, they are definitely not inexpensive.  The diamond's  rate varies as per the carat, cut, colour and clarity. The more flawless it is, the higher the prices are. These sneakers with their unique construction absolutely  justify the pricing. © Viral Bhayani Speaking of Kartik's outfit, it has a hipster vibe to it and the way he has paired his oversized hoodie with acid wash jeans makes it even more statement-worthy. Clearly, Kartik has topped the fashion game and we cannot wait for more such looks. Hats off!

Vicky Kaushal Made A Bold Fashion Statement Wearing Green 'Waffle' Sneakers With Heels

Post the phenomenal success of Uri, Vicky Kaushal was on a short break in 2019 before he resumed filming again for various projects.  The actor is now prepping for Karan Johar's Takht where he will be seen starring alongside Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor.  So, now that he's back at the game again, Vicky Kaushal is making sure that he's also armed in the best way whenever he steps out. This also translates into his outfits.  Kaushal's signature style can be easily described as accessible aesthetic, courtesy his stylist Amandeep Kaur.  © Viral Bhayani Recently, he was spotted wearing a light blue coloured sweatshirt, grey track pants with a pair of really edgy yet vibrant sneakers. Take a look here: © Viral Bhayani Vicky is wearing the green colourway sneakers from the Sacai x Nike LDWaffle Collection. © Viral Bhayani In collaboration with Japanese high-fashion label Sacai, the silhouette is a hybrid in a double-themed design. This special-edition sneaker combines the elements: Waffle Daybreak and LDV. The sneaker also features double tongues, shoelaces, and swooshes on the side and a co-branded insignia of Nike x Sacai on the heel tab. The silhouette retails at 13,995 Rupees. © Viral Bhayani The interesting element of these sneakers is that they have an added wedge, so wearing them will definitely add a couple of inches to your height. Not that Vicky needs it. We wonder if he has to bend a little to enter through doors while he's wearing these sneakers.

Style Pundits: We Spoke To Jay Samuel, The Man Behind Some Of Aparshakti's Best Sartorial Statements

Quirky, eccentric and yet subtle - perhaps this is the most appropriate way to describe the style statements that we have seen Aparshakti Khurana make. Now, even though he, like most of our Bollywood celebrities, are born with an innate sense of style, he is rarely the one who comes up with the ensembles that we have seen him wear. © Jay Samuel The stylist who is responsible for the drool-worthy sartorial sensibility that we have come to associate with Aparshakti, is Jay Samuel, a London-based stylist, who, apart from Aparshakti has closely worked with a number of style icons from across the Indian subcontinent. © Jay Samuel Here's what Jay had to say, when we sat down for a candid conversation over men's fashion in India, the icons of style in Bollywood, and all things fashion. Tell us about your journey, how did you start out?  I've always had an eye for detail and a passion for fashion from a young age. Over the years, this passion grew even more, since I was styling family friends for various events. I also understood how to shop cleverly and work around things that I have. Gradually this habit led to a sense of recognition, which I pursued further.  What is your creative process when you are working with Aparshakti Khurana? Being a stylist entails coming up with ideas for someone else to pursue. Aparshakti and I have worked together for many years now. We share the same energy when it comes to fashion. He is open to ideas and not afraid of setting trends, trying out new stuff, so that definitely helps. © Instagram/jaysamuelstudio We have seen this new trend of celebs getting a shoot done before going out for public appearances, be it a red carpet event or for promotions. Why has this practice developed as the norm? We are living in a social media frenzy where everything is constantly being snapped -  whether it is your gym outfit, or an airport look. Sometimes, the images are flattering. However, sometimes they are far from it. Therefore this new trends gives celebrities the opportunity to have those perfect images ready for posting online. Furthermore, it's a great way to credit to the designer and stylist. However, as a photographer, I don't always agree with this habit, as this diminishes the need for a proper and creative photoshoot.  Does being a photographer allow you to visualise your styling projects in a better way? How does it work? Definitely yes. As a photographer, you envision the end result in your mind, way before the day arrives and you clicking the image. From a stylist's point of view, I will prepare everything else, keeping that image in mind. © Instagram/jaysamuelstudio Virgil Abloh in a recent interview said that streetwear will be dead in the coming decade. Do you agree? Why or why not? Streetwear has stepped up, it's not just about being comfortable anymore. It's adding that quirkiness to give ensembles a certain look and feel. In my opinion, streetwear will always be there. We have seen a rise in multiple bags which started from the ramp and quickly could be seen on the streets.  What is that one fashion trend that you don't like, or don't agree with? I didn't particularly like the trend of getting over the top, big hairstyles. I think they overpower the entire look. What are some must-have staples that men should hoard in their closets?  A properly tailored white shirt, a smart jacket, a pair of brogues, a well fitted pair of jeans. Also, invest well in accessories, such as belts, watches and sunglasses. © Instagram/jaysamuelstudio What are some basic and often repeated mistakes that people make when putting together a look? I've always noticed that people often dress ignoring the kind of occasion they are heading to. For example, you often see men wearing the wrong shirt collar, for the tie they have chosen. If you opt for a bow tie then go for the right collar.  Also the trend of wearing oversized garments. Although this may seem cool and look super comfortable, it can be overbearing for some people.  How would you describe the last decade in terms of fashion? What trends, according to you, were huge? It was the decade of the smart suits paired with sneakers - sophisticated and yet comfortable. Also the whole neon effect for both women and men worked well. © Instagram/jaysamuelstudio And what trends do you see going big in 2020? Trench coats for both men and women will be a big thing. I do see people rocking more colours with spring emerging, particularly shades of yellow and orange. I also feel a comeback of the '80s trend of tailored blazer jackets with enunciated shoulder pads.  What advice would you give to a budding stylist? The main thing is having that inner passion for fashion and style. Be creative and believe in your craft. Take inspiration from others but find your own style. Always work hard and remember to have fun.  © Instagram/jaysamuelstudio How would you define your signature style? Quirky. Your favourite place to shop or look for new pieces to work with. I love shopping and I'm a creative but selective shopper, so the place doesn't matter. Just show me the stuff! © Jay Samuel One historical era that you find extremely fashionable? I loved the '70s in terms of fashion, with their fitted shirts and well-tailored trousers. One celebrity who can teach everyone else a lesson or two on how to pull off the Indian aesthetic elegantly, when it comes to menswear. It's between the godfather of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachan and Shahid Kapoor. They both have everything on point, every time. © Jay Samuel One thing men should never do while dressing up in traditional Indian wear. Get the shoes wrong, for some reason the outfits whether its grand sherwanis or just a plain kurta are always paired with the wrong kind of shoes…. Please can we show the footwear the same kind of love! One traditional Indian menswear item you believe every Indian man should have in his wardrobe, and why. A white or black kurta. It oozes comfort, but also looks very stylish, whether you are pairing it with a traditional churidar or some trendy chinos. © Jay Samuel 3 International Celebrities that you would love to style.  David Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and David Gandy   3 Indian celebrities who have a natural flair for style. Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Ayushman Khurrana  Ethereal, elysian, and sublime - these words can often be used to describe the ensembles and outfits that we have seen Bollywood celebrities wear. However, more often than not, there is an entire team of people, working behind the scenes to bring us some iconic and memorable statement ensembles. As a series, Style Pundits looks at the eccentric people behind these ensembles and celebrates the ever-changing notions that have come to define India's sartorial sensibilities and the fluidity of our style.

Where Is MSD? Indian Cricket Fans Question BCCI's Decision To Deny MS Dhoni A Central Contract

Tasked with the responsibility of leading a fairly inexperienced side early in his career, Mahendra Singh Dhoni didn't just repay the faith of the selectors and the team management, but allowed India to etch its name in the history books with the maiden ICC World T20 title in its inaugural edition in 2007. His capabilities in limited-overs cricket had already turned heads when he played blistering innings of 148 and 183 within a year of his debut, but the World T20 triumph in South Africa was indeed the platform that gave everyone a glimpse of the noticeable leadership skills of a long-haired and fearless Dhoni. And, since then, there has been no turning back for MSD. © Reuters Bringing a thick skin and relative indifference to the results, two key things that had earlier set the norm for an Indian captain to keep his job, Dhoni thrived in his natural progression as India's leader on the field. His partnership with Gary Kirsten in 2011 saw the Indian team ending the country's wait for 28 years to get their hands on the coveted ICC World Cup trophy. It was undoubtedly an achievement that no other Indian captain, barring, of course, Kapil Dev, has achieved. But, Dhoni wasn't done just yet. Two years later, Dhoni helped India clinch yet another ICC trophy, this time the Champions Trophy which was held in England and Wales. In the process, Dhoni became the only captain to have won all three major ICC trophies - a feat that is yet to be matched by his counterparts. © Reuters But, just like how all good things must come to an end, Dhoni, too, has reached the twilight of his career. Ever since, India's ouster from the 2019 World Cup, speculations have been rife that 'Captain Cool' might call time on his illustrious career. He missed key series for India last year and the selectors have made it pretty clear that the Jharkhand cricketer is no longer in their scheme of things for the future as they continue to groom and nurture young Rishabh Pant as his potential successor. While fans are still getting used to the absence of Dhoni on the cricket field as Virat Kohli continues to marshall his troops, the 38-year-old was handed a critical blow after being overlooked for the central contracts by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) - a move that has pretty much summed up the fate of the former Indian captain. Skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah receive BCCI's grade A+ central contract for 2019-20.

MS Dhoni has been left out of the annual contract list. pic.twitter.com/VFBjIuVYac — ICC (@ICC) January 16, 2020 On 16th January, the Indian cricket board announced the list of central contracts for its players for 2019-20. While the likes of Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah saw their Grade A+ contract (Rs 7 cr) being renewed, Dhoni's name was missing from Grade A (Rs 5 cr), B (Rs 3 cr) and C (Rs 1 cr) list of central contracts for the players. The BCCI announces the Annual Player Contracts for Team India (Senior Men) for the period from October 2019 to September 2020.

Apart from Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Khaleel Ahmed and Ambati Rayudu were also left of BCCI's list of central contracts for players. But, it was Dhoni's notable omission that took social media by storm. Dhoni deserves a great Farewell. BCCI should not be so selfish.

Sonam Kapoor, who is in London right now to shoot for an ad, took to her Twitter account to share a scary experience of taking an Uber in the city. She tweeted, "Hey guys Iâve had the scariest experience with @Uber London. Please please be careful. The best and safest is just to use local public transportation or cabs. Iâm super shaken." Hey guys Iâve had the scariest experience with @Uber london. Please please be careful. The best and safest is just to use the local public transportation or cabs. Iâm super shaken. â Sonam K Ahuja (@sonamakapoor) January 15, 2020  A user asked her to share the details of what exactly happened with her, to which she replied, âThe driver was unstable and was yelling and shouting. I was shaking by the end of it.â  After she raised a complaint on Twitter, the cab vendor apologized as she had such an unfortunate experience.  The driver was unstable and was yelling and shouting. I was shaking by the end of it. â Sonam K Ahuja (@sonamakapoor) January 15, 2020   After her tweet started to gain attention, her fans bashed the cab vendor and asked for immediate action against the driver responsible.  Hope you are okay...@Uber_Support please take strict action against the driver... â Punit (SidHeart) (@Punit03147132) January 15, 2020
@Uber_Support Can you please look Into it. This is serious. ðð¼ â mahi (@mahi_lahsgdidj) January 15, 2020
Some users expressed being puzzled as to why would she would need a cab to travel around the city when she could easily get a car of her own.   Something is cooking !! She has many luxury cars yet she is going in uber ??

Somehow this will be connected to RW later !! â Srikanth (@srikanthbjp_) January 16, 2020   I agree ... She can afford the best of cars, whether in India or even in the UK.. why did she opt for Uber ð¤ð¤ð¤ guess she wants free/cheap publicity... May be some picture of hers may be due to be released anytime soon... â Punit Jani (@_punit_jani) January 16, 2020  Of course, some people were sympathetic with Sonam, as they shared similar experiences of having a tough time with their cab drivers as well.
Actually uber drivers are not tested for drugs and we have had a similar experience in Delhi where the driver kept braking all the time and driving zig zag for no reason. Uber trains drivers for just half a day where they are only taught how to use the GPS. â chandnimathur (@chandnimathur5) January 16, 2020 Sorry to hear that. Have been victimised several times.... @Uber_India â Karan Bhardwaj (@Karan_Bow) January 16, 2020   There were a few users who then informed that the particular cab vendor in question has apparently already lost its license and has been banned in London.  Oh dear hope your ok...Iâm pretty sure Uber lost their licence for London in November last year be careful dodgy people out there â Kiran khan (@Kirankhan79) January 15, 2020 Uber banned in London but how come u got it..

Virat Kohli-Led India Must Bring Normalcy Back To Their Line-Up To Stay Alive In The ODI Series

Going past one opponent after another in what has turned out to be a dominant home season in recent months, the high-flying Indian cricket team was shot down to the ground by a clinical Australian brigade that romped to a commanding 10-wicket win in the 1st ODI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The prolific form of Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul in recent matches had the Indian team management and selectors convinced that they should play all their opening batsmen, including Rohit Sharma, in the ODI series opener. The move saw Rohit and Dhawan, quite understandably, opening the innings and Rahul occupying Virat Kohli's preferred No. 3 slot, pushing the Indian captain further down to No. 4. While the move would have surely looked like a masterstroke on the drawing board, it had quite an opposite effect on the kind of result Team India and their fans would have hoped for.  Rohit's dismissal at the score of 10 runs had India on the back foot early on, but a brilliant 121-run stand for the second wicket between Dhawan and Rahul probably had Kohli & Co believing that tinkering with their usual line-up was still going to pay off. But, it didn't. © Twitter/@BCCI Rahul and Dhawan, the biggest accumulators for India in the match, were sent back into the hut in a space of two overs. With a decent score on the board and still more than 30 overs left to play, India needed a partnership and the onus was on captain Kohli. But, a lack of respect to Adam Zampa saw Kohli joining Dhawan and Rahul in the pavilion sooner than the Wankhede crowd would have expected. Then, it was Shreyas Iyer's turn to take the long walk back into the Indian dressing room as the hosts found themselves reeling at 164/5 in 33 overs. Luckily, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja steadied the ship for the home side with a crucial 49-run partnership to keep India in the hunt for a decent total. And, a 26-run stand between Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav later in the innings saw India posting 255 runs on board. For a team that boasts of one of the strong batting line-ups in the sport, India could only manage a below-par total. But, with Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav bolstering their bowling attack, many believed that it was probably enough to contain the touring Aussies. However, contrary to popular perception, the Indian attack conceded the biggest ODI stand against them ever - courtesy centurions Aaron Finch and David Warner. © Reuters Playing his first ODI in over six months, Bumrah, and even Shami, struggled to hit the right lengths and barely troubled the Australian opening duo. The Indian seamers were initially too full and then overcompensated by going too short. And, the familiarity with the conditions due to the IPL experience saw Warner and Finch making merry as batting became easier under lights. On the other hand, the spin bowling duo of Kuldeep and Ravindra Jadeja, too, looked ordinary while conceding over five runs an over. But, the weakest link in the Indian bowling attack turned out to be Shardul Thakur who bowled just five overs and was plundered for 43 runs, conceding almost nine runs an over. In the eight matches he has played so far, this was his 3rd ODI wherein he went wicketless. To make matters worse, Shardul, who bagged the 'Man of the Match' award in the last T20I against Sri Lanka, has struggled for success since 2019 and remains one of the most expensive bowlers in the 50-over format among those who have bowled a minimum of 20 overs. His economy rate of 6.49 in ODIs is the second-highest among all Indian bowlers who have bowled a minimum of 50 overs bowled in the 50-over format. © Twitter/@BCCI âTotally outplayed in all three departments. Itâs a very strong Australian team, and if you donât play well enough, they will hurt you. In phases, we were too respectful against their bowlers and didnât take the game by the scruff of the neck. Itâs another challenge to bounce back from here,â Kohli had said after their tame loss. But, a closer look at India's tactics in the 1st ODI reveals that their decision to play all three openers disrupted the flow in their line-up. Playing Rohit, Dhawan and Rahul meant that India had to make do without a middle-order specialist - something that they dearly missed in the middle-overs as wickets kept tumbling. © Reuters Furthermore, accommodating the prominent trio made India rely on Shardul's batting lower down the order which also didn't pay off as he could only score 13 runs. And, the key impact came on the bowling line-up that India had to persist with five bowlers and rued the absence of a sixth bowler, even a part-timer who could give the hosts some respite when their bowlers were getting clobbered all over the park. Finding themselves in a must-win situation, the Kohli-led India need to stick to the basics and bring normalcy back to their line-up, especially in the upcoming clashes in Rajkot and Bengaluru, where the pitches are expected to be flatter and the boundaries relatively shorter.  The time for tinkering with the playing XI is over and the hosts need to get it right in the 2nd ODI, else it will be their second straight ODI series loss to Australia at home.

While the Indian cricket team were in the middle of a great run during World Cup 2019 before the disappointing loss to Kane Williamson and the New Zealand side, one of their biggest and most heart-warming highlight came during Indiaâs match against Bangladesh at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. The cameraman caught one of the most excited fans at the venue, a 87-year-old Charulata Patel, who was seen cheering for the Men in Blue whenever Rohit Sharma walked down the pitch to slam a six or one of Jasprit Bumrahâs yorkers gave the Bangladeshis a tough time at the crease. Came to be known as âCricket Grandma,â her energy and the passion for the game and that for Virat Kohliâs team was so pure that both the skipper and deputy in-charge, Rohit Sharma had to come out of the dressing room and spend some quality time with her after winning the ODI clash. Kohli even put out a tweet sharing how incredible it was to meet the superfan:  Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. But earlier this week, her grandchildren shared the heartbreaking news that their grandmother was no more.  â"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you, our beautiful grandmother took her final breath on 13/01 at 5.30pm. May Lord Shiva bless her atman always, please all say a prayer.â The official BCCI Twitter handle extended the teamâs condolences towards the familyâs loss. #TeamIndia's Superfan Charulata Patel ji will always remain in our hearts and her passion for the game will keep motivating us.

6 Indian Army-Led Operations From The Past Decade That Will Make Your Heart Swell With Pride

When I was younger, I would love to spend time with my grandfather, while he would regale me with his "war tales". I would be absolutely mesmerised to say the least, and imagine him bravely fight our enemies, in wars that are only studied in history books now. The brave sons of our soils have fought horrifying wars and when we hear their tragic yet heroic stories, we can't help but have immense pride for our soldiers who risk their lives everyday just so we can sleep soundly. © Twitter On Army Day today, I would love to pay an ode to all the martyred, brave soldiers who have led some daring missions to protect Indian borders, rescue people and fight terrorists and keep us all safe. Here are some outstanding military operations carried out by the Indian Army in the past decade.  (1) Operation Surya Hope (2013) Operation Surya Hope was the Indian Army's Central Command response to the June 2013, North Indian floods in Uttrakhand. If you remember the floods that happened in Uttrakhand in 2013, they were devastating, and affected millions. The floods left over 100,000 pilgrims and tourists stranded and killed thousands of people.  The operation was commanded by Lieutenant General Anil Chait, the General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC in C) of Central Command. He was succeeded by General Rajan Bakshi, on July 1, 2013, who said the army would continue with the relief operations. The Indian Army managed to rescue a number of civilians caught in the dreaded floods. © Twitter (2) Operation Maitri (2015) Operation Maitri was a rescue and relief operation in Nepal by the Indian armed forces and the Government of India, in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake. India responded to disaster relief within 15 minutes of the earthquake occurring. The armed forces helped rescue a number of people stuck under debris and also assisted them with medical aid. Over 43,000 Indians and 785 foreigners were successfully evacuated.  © Twitter (3) India Counter-Insurgency Operation In Myanmar (2015) In June 2015, India announced that it had conducted a cross-border operation against insurgents belonging to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCS-K). The operation took place in Myanmar and it took place in response to the ambush of the Indian Army convoy of 6 Dogra regiment in Manipur. India destroyed insurgent camps and a large number of insurgents were killed during the cross border operation in Myanmar, according to India. © Twitter (4) Indian Line Of Control Strike (2016) In September 2016, India announced that it conducted 'surgical strikes' against Pakistan-based militants, across the Line of Control in Pakistan administered Kashmir. The surgical strike was successful as the terrorist bases were neutralised. A documented partial footage of the strike was released for the Indian media, in June 2018, as proof for the strike conducted. © Twitter (5) Operation Calm Down (2016) Operation Calm down was started by the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, in the wake of the death of Burhan Wani in July 2016, which led to unrest in Kashnir because of which more than 90 civilians and two security personnel were killed and many got injured.  The operation was started in September 2016 and it was initiated to bring the region back in order, while using minimal force. Connectivity was lost over some regions and schools and shops were shut down for three months and the Army aimed to undo the unrest and try and bring back normalcy in the region. © Twitter (6) Operation Sahyog (2018) Indian Army launched operation Sahyog to rescue people in flood-hit Kerala in 2018. The Army deployed its men and machinery into disaster relief and rescue operations at Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Idduki after incessant rain and landslides hit various northern districts of the state. The Army was deployed to rescue people stranded in heavy rain and water. They constructed temporary bridges for the evacuation of the stranded people from the isolated villages. © Twitter Mostly this decade, the Indian Army has focused on a lot of rescue and relief operations in flood hit areas in India and Nepal and maintaining peace in certain areas experiencing unrest in the country.  Our Army has shown absolute determination and extreme dedication towards serving the country with their bravery and tenacity, so we can get a good night's rest. These stories and missions mentioned above should be written, spoken and regaled as often as possible to uphold the honour these soldiers truly deserve.

4 Alfred Hitchcock Crime Thrillers Which Were Badly Copied By Bollywood & Ruined For His Fans

The brilliance of Alfred Hitchcock is no surprise to any cinematic lover who appreciates a well-written mystery. The English director, writer and producer has some insane work to his credit and is one of the biggest names in the history of entertainment. With a plethora of work to his credit, it is no surprise that some of his genius was an inspiration for many more movie makers, including in Bollywood. However, not all copies are a form of good flattery and these 4 thrillers are proof:  1. Rebecca Alfred's award-winning psychological thriller which was also his first American project was copied in 1964 as Kohra starring Waheeda Rehman and Biswajeet. The story follows the story of Amit and Rajeshwari who move to his mansion after their wedding and eventually the wife discovers that the mansion is haunted by his ex-wife's spirit.   4. Video Of Granny Dancing At Pongal Celebrations Is All Of Us After Getting A Good Appraisal

Whenever people say "Age is nothing but just a number", our backpain, headache and our poor stamina and metabolism unanimously disagree. While our 20-something bodies are already cribbing about a 70-year-old backpain, people twice or thrice our age are setting goals for their younger generation like a true boss. Arvind Kejriwal Talking To His IIT Batchmates On A Video Call Is Now A Wholesome Meme

Just like a lot of politicians out there, whatever Arvind Kejriwal does ends up becoming a meme, more often than not. Recently, he himself has been supplying people with consistent memes on his Twitter as well as through Aam Aadmi Party Twitter account, but I'm guessing he didn't expect some wholesome pictures of him would go viral as the new hot meme. Recently, IIT Kharagpur had its annual reunion event but seems like Arvind Kejriwal was unable to attend it. The solution? A video call, of course. Kabir Khan Strongly Condemns Police Beating Students & Seems Like '83 Might Face 'Boycott' Too

Following the nationwide protests against CAA and NRC, many Bollywood celebs have spoken about it, condemning the violence in the country. In a recent interview with IANS, film director Kabir Khan was asked about the police brutality in Jamia Millia Islamia. On this, he said, “I feel strongly about these issues. It was, for me, a very uncomfortable visual when I watched those students of Jamia walking out with their hands in the air. I feel students have an absolute right to dissent, students have a right to protest. If you stop students from protesting, then it is the death of democracy. How can you prevent them from expressing dissent?” Kabir had recently joined other celebs in protesting against CAA in Mumbai. He strongly believes that police have no right to suppress these voices by beating them. He instead feels that if people think the students are wrong, they should debate with them.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kabir Khan (@kabirkhankk) on Feb 29, 2012 at 9:30am PST “If the students don't like something and they want to talk about it, you cannot stop them from doing so. A Candid Virat Kohli Recalls The Moment He Found Out He Was Finally Going To Play For India

Virat Kohli became a member of the Indian cricket team as a young man who had a lot of fire in his heart and ample talent to back his words. Known for often losing his cool when an opposing player tried getting under his skin or even letting it out on the spectators watching the match from the stands, the cricketer has come a long way since then and he has the greys in his beard to prove it.  In his 11 years of playing international cricket at the highest level, Kohli has been on a roller coaster ride. First as a batsman, then as the leader of the side. A very candid Virat Kohli opened up at an event:  "...for me, the moment that will always be very dear to me or special is the day that I got selected in the Indian team. I was at home with my mother, watching news, I was getting no information from anywhere and as my name flashed I had no idea what to do," Kohli recalled. "I went berserk, there was no synchronisation. I didn't know whether to sit, stand, run or jump...I think that is one moment that I would multiply eight times any day and replay it," he said. An enthusiastic batsman, Kohli led India's U-19 team to World Cup glory in 2008 and was fortunate enough to make it to the senior team within months of lifting the trophy in Malaysia. © Reuters "...when you are playing for the national team, tournaments or series become achievements, they become accomplishments. But something that you work hard for as an eight-year-old starting to play cricket to representing your country -- that is a feeling you can't replicate," he said. "The starting point stands out for me because it gives you clarity, vision and motivation and also because it keeps me grounded and reminds me where I'm from," he added. The man has come a long way since getting excited seeing his name make the headlines, because everything that the cricketer does now is in the news, be it his performance on the field, his family trips or even his diet. However, that feeling of wearing the Indian cricket team's jersey for the very first time is something special and nothing can ever come close to it.
